Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII looks awesome I have to say it is much much more promising then FF 12 ever was and the new gunblade looks amazing. I also like the scifi setting and moving away from the medivel look. What are other peoples first impressions?

No they are unrelated to each other, character and story wise but exist in the same universe or alternate ones that are similar

I know, way to jump the gun a little but there Square Enix. Maybe someone should tell them 12 isn't near the shelves yet.

ok so what this isn't for the same system it dosn't need to wait for 12..... Hell 12 is already done it just needs to come out here, this is their project for PS3 not a chaser game for the 12.

Well XII is been out in Japan for months already so its no suprise that they moved on a bit in their end. I think the trailer is cool, but I am worried cause it is "NOT" set in some sort of medival setting since the ones that were kind stunk (*points at FFVIII and a little of FVII)

I disagree the medival concept is tired and old out and way to many RPGs do it.

And FFVIII was the only FF game on the PSX that was a standout title in my opinion. FFVII was a tired rehash and FFIX while fun and better than 7 was a bit weak story wise.

Well, as old and tired out the medieval setting may be, I despise the contemporary, sci-fi, pseudo-psycological crap (cough Xenosaga, cough).

Its because the team for 12 fell very behind schedule.

XIII looks like Square-Enix are trying to pull off a Dot-Hack buy creating a franchise with milking made in mind. Also, with the new generation, they'll be hoping they've made another 7.
I'll be looking forward to seeing a more sci-fi Final Fantasy, even though I would prefer to see a return to steampunk.

Normally I would agree with everyone who says "Why talk about FFXIII when XII isn't out!" But when I saw the freaking trailer, I fell in love with the woman who I call "Ms. XIII" (Miss Thirteen). I love strong women as main character in game, and from what I have seen, she fits it quite well. She's no Samus but who is. I love her.

Then there is the other games. Sure Agito is on phones so I probably won't ever play it, and Versus is interesting, but I'll wait until I see gameplay or whatever.

Eitherway FFXIII is one of the 3 reaons I still plan on getting a PS3 (the other two being Virtua Fighter 5 and Metal Gear Solid 4).

Very beautiful looking game, the trailer has definately got me hooked in wanting to play this game in the future but i am still looking foward to when XII comes out here in the states

this series is going in a bad direction first I hear that 12 uses the same battle system as tactics then I here this one is going to be like x-2, lame.
