A few screenshots have been released. Confirmed new characters are Solid Snake, Meta-Knight, Angel Pit, Wario, and some weird version of Samus. Hopefully in addition to regular Samus.

Well Mac from punchout does sound interesting it can be like mugs got in the game but as a skinny person with some speed. And if he does get in I would love to see a Punchout stage which everytime you KO somone Mario comes out as a ref and calls it. I love to see one of the characters from River city ransom. Dedede would be cool, he can be like the Ice climbers except Heavy but kinda have the same moves as them.

Maybe Banjo can get in there if Rare is nice enough to let them use him cause c'mon Nintendo is the reason why Rare was so popular and microsoft is just wasteing their talents. Megaman I like to see too and Bomberman as well. Maybe Megaman can be like Kirby and gain his enemies abilitys but only by beating them.

I'll show you who's top tier when we hold AA's first SSBB tournament.

It looks like a great game, but those special attacks featured in the trailer really turned me off. It looks nice, but it just seems to interfere with the way Smash games tend to flow and it's unique appeal. Then again, I am extremely attached to SSBM, so my opinion is probably really elitist. Whatever.

I'm a relatively dedicated SSBM player (I still play twenty minutes a day with whoever; it's like a daily routine for me), and I plan to attend tournaments all summer long, as after all, this is the last summer that SSBM will still be "in season".

Whether SSBB turns out better or worse than its GC counterpart, I know it'll still be a hell of a lot of fun, and I intend on getting into this game hardcore.

And as an update, Nintendo of Japan currently lets fans submit their character and/or music theme suggestions to them. Let's see if I can figure out how to properly put Tingle in katakana. =D
Oh and Nobuo Uematsu wrote the main theme for the game. That should draw in some Square fanatics.

There's a small chance that Banjo could be accepted. I mean, they made Banjo Pilot on GBA, even though Rare is working for Microsoft. I also think Pacman could be implemented. He's just so classic. I have no clue what abilities he would have, but it'd be neat to see him nonetheless. I'd also be pretty neat if they could add Rayman, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Jak & Daxter, but that's quite a bit of other franchise characters I've mentioned. Gotta save something for the sequel.

And I know this would never happen, but I'd love it if they added Sora from KH in there.

As for an item idea, I think it'd be cool to grab an item that makes Tetris blocks rain down from the sky on your enemies.

Argh. Too many ideas. Endless possibilities. But I hope they think big or bigger than I've thought. If so, this game will blow me away.

They said that the game will use the Gamecube controller and not the WEEEEEEEEEE's!!! RevMote-ler. Which is quite good because I cannot imagine playing Smash Bros. with a remote without causing considerable damage to my already writing-weathered, noodle wrists.

The "archer" guy is named Pit , from the game kid icarus , I suggest playing the original nes or the gameboy version. I played the gameboy one to DEATH , very fun game.

What I'm worried about is the depth of the gameplay. SSBM looked simple on the surface, but just the sheer versatility of each character was astounding. That free, easy movement anywhere on the stage or off it (as opposed to, say, Soul Caliber) gave rise to advanced techniques that made Melee practically a sport.

Wavedashing, wavedancing, SHFFLing, shorthops, bomb jumps, chain throws, Fox's infinites, shine combos. The list goes on. If the developers knew about all that and meant it to be uncovered, they are geniuses. What I'm worried about is that SSB: Brawl will screw up the perfect formula.

Am I the only one who thinks it's a terrible idea to have snake in the game? He just doesn't fit the cartoonish classic gaming roster at all. I guess you could say he's a classic too since he had 2 games on the NES but the character as it is now and the hype weren't until the first MGS.

I do hope Master Higgins from the Adventure Island series will find his way here. Now that was a cool classic game and he would fit perfectly. Megaman would also be perfect and Sonic's pretty much a given I think.

Ditto with Super Mario Bros. 1, when you do get to meet the Princess it's against a black background. So even if only for that they were forced to go for a more, erm, bright haircolour.

Who's to say who will be secret and who won't? But I'm willing to bet they'll throw Viewtiful Joe in there. Maybe even some characters from Golden Sun, though they may not be able to get permission. Besides, they'd probably play too much like Marth or Roy, only with magic.

Well if they are such a concern I'm sure there'll be an option to make sure that the items that trigger them never appear. And I'm sure it won't be that bad, no one complains about the Shun Goku Satsu (wp wp, fwd, wk hp ) interrupting fights in the Street Fighter games for example. I mean sure, you don't have four people jumping about in Street Fighter, but judging from the trailer those supers wouldn't last very long. 5 seconds tops and you're all on the go again.

I am the Samus user and I shall enjoy her new secondary mode. She was already super good, and now she gets the Zelda Sheik treatment to make her even better. Also, my predictions were correct that her gun did not turn into a sword, but rather a whip. It was kinda hard to tell in the trailer, but I think it made more sense for it to be an energy whip.

My gosh this game can't come out fast enough.

Now the question is, who is the fifth character on the website?

There will be no neck slashing in SSBB. How do I know? Solid Snake (and it is Solid Snake because he has 2 eyes) is not fond of blades. You could assume he will use the items that he picks up (including the energy sword), but in all probability he will not go to the lengths of using it like Big Boss/Naked Snake does. Also, his character model does have a gun, so you could assume he will at least have tranquilizer bulets (as it would also work well in the game). My guess is that he will use the box as his shield, much like Yoshi and his egg. He will probably also have a use of his stealth suit for a special, but that seems fairly obvious to anyone.

Actually, the way I understand it, once you're Zero Suit Samus, you're Zero Suit Samus for the rest of the match. Thus making it sort of a middle ground between the Zelda/Sheik thing and being a whole new character.

Simply put, he won't. =D You can't sneak up on people in a fighting game simply because everyone can see your character.
Although Nintendo might just make a mini-game/mission where you, as Snake are supposed to sneak up on a number of characters and KO-them without them ever seeing you, or something. =D

And besides, if Snake had to use real guns, Nintendo would have to buy the licenses of the makers of the real guns. >.>;;

Well, Snake has guns in the games that were not real. I still think that a tranquilizer of some sort may work well, but it may not happen. Also, as far as sneaking up, that could easily be a move for Snake that only worked when he was behind his opponent, since Mewtwo had a move that was based on whether the opposing character was looking at you or not.

I can still easily see him using C-4 and/or Claymores.

Well, currently some sources are claiming that in a japanese radio interview Sakurai-san had stated that Young Link, Mr. Game & Watch and oddly enough, the Ice Climbers are getting the axe. They would be replaced by Wind Waker Link, Kid Koopa and Ridley.

He apparently also pointed out that all clone characters will be reworked entirely so that they are more unique-like. And the total character count would be somewhere between 30 & 40 characters.... and there might be one or two more third party characters.

Not bad all in all. If it's true.

While I agree that Mr. Game & Watch was more of a novelty character than anything (so much fun beating people up with him) and Pichu was utterly useless, Ganondorf, Dr Mario and Young Link aren't clear-cut clones.

They have the same move sets sure, but there’s a very noticeable difference in the way they play, but if anything Nintendo will hopefully give these characters some new stuff to make them stand out a bit more, like Ganon getting his sword or a transformation technique to turn into Pig Ganon, Young Link will most likely be replaced by "Celda" Link but I’m not sure what they can do to make him stand out from how Young Link plays now, unless they give him that counter technique used in WW and junk like that and I'm gonna assume their gonna make Dr Marios costume part of Marios alternate wardrobe which is probably for the best.

Well, if you look at the select few clips of gameplay footage in the trailer, Link fights still the exact same way as he did in SSBB.

As to Zelda, just because they chose her most recent fashion update doesn't mean they'll axe Sheik. Sheik is for a good deal what made her such a popular character. (Although I mainly stay in Zelda form when playing as her.)

Story: Ok so it was that time again. Animenext, a con which I have been at since 2004. I bought my aunts cam and just messed with it and been through some events and went outside. As my friend and I was waiting for one event to occur and found a guy roaming around a cardboard box so it was good ol Solid Snake. Of course he denied it at least what this here box said.
