It's a good thing I talked to Harmonix at Videogames Live. You knew this was comin, a sequel to the best and only guitar wielding game on the Playstation 2......in the U.S so far.

What is new here you ask or don't care? Well new songs, co-op and backwards compatability. I couldn't ask for a better sequel. Lets just hope Stairway to Heaven will be put in there. You gotta have the Led Zepplin in a guitar game ya just gotta.

I wish Sony would announce some kind of support for converting the PS2 controllers to USB for PS3. I already had to hold off on the first one because I don't want to have to buy a separate PS3-compatible guitar later.

Kinda a long time to wait for a game if its one you want to play... especially if your like me and dont plan on buying a PS3 right away due to its launch price...

But anyways this news makes me STOKED!

* Senshi starts shredding air guitar Bill and Ted style!

That Coop game sounds awesome... where you can play Coop as Rhythm guitar or bass guitar... plus it isnt gonna cost as much so I dont have to buy the guitar again...

definitely gonna keep my eye on this one

Maybe I mistyped my saying about the backwards compatability. When I meant by that I meant that you can use your guitar from the first one and use it in the sequel. That way ya don't have to put down the dough for the second one and assume there is goin to be a guitar in that. Think of this sequel as an expansion pack cause the first was great, but it was in dire need of more songs. I'll just hope that with the quickie negotiaions I did with Harmonix, they will fufill the need to add AC/DC, Van Halen and The Zepplin. Who knows I might meet up with...what was his name? Enos something when I tour Red Octane soon.

guitar hero has a long way to go before it can catch up to guitar freaks(11 versions of it so far) what i like about guitar freaks more than what i like about guitar hero is you can play drum mania and bass freaks with it so its like having your own band.

dont doubt it though guitar hero is great so its newer version should keep up with its name so for but i will always prefer arcade over console...

edit: guitar freaks 11th mix with drum mania 10th mix http://www.familyfuncenter.net/gfdm.jpg

TO probably make a wish come true are there any songs that you wish could be in the game? Maybe some classic to modern? From like No More Mister Nice Guy to New Disease? No The Smiths though, the ESRB might make it M just because someone heard and/or took a bullet to Death at One's Elbow.

Well, Guitar Hero wasn't released until late 2005, at which point the PS3 was supposed to about 6 months away, so it wasn't that long of a wait initially. And with the co-op mode, if there was no converter, then I was looking at buying 4 guitars for 1 game in the span of 6 months. Personally I'd rather pay more for one that works on both machines than buy the same one twice but with different plugs.

I'm reviving this since it just came out today!!! Anyone bought it/played it yet? My friend is having a Guitar Hero II party tonight (shut up) so I'll hopefully get to play some highly anticipated songs... like Trogdor and Thunderhorse (from Metalocalypse). I've seen some videos of the songs on youtube, it looks like the difficulty level is going to be much higher for Expert... 3 buttons at once, oh my! :P

Trogdor is on the soundtrack? That almost, kind of makes me want this game.

Crap! I made a hilarious post in the DDR thread without knowing this thread existed (shame on me!)

Oh well, I get to expand on my experiences with GH 2 fanatics.

I think the game is cool by the way, but working at a Wal-Mart when a game like this is released remains a unique perspective, being there's groups of people who just kinda hang out to get a copy. I worked in grocery, so hearing questions from people about the game felt hilarious, especially since I was right in front of a freezer (I work frozen foods) when they ask me. Do I know how many copies we have left? NO! I do know where to find some Hot Pockets though! XD

Of course, it's ok to ask the guy in front of the freezers and not the guy who's at the electronics counter, I have a duty to perform to the customers after all (plus I enjoyed the attention). Me and my friend play GH at break (given we have a demo in the electronics department). The original game we had displayed was the full version, which meant customers and ourselves always tried keeping their high scores handy (hahahaha!), but GH 2 just had a demo disc with no recordable scores, which means I'll just try it a bit. Of course, I suck at GH, but it's still quite enjoyable. I'm like a grandma with that guitar, seriously.

And I still stand to it: when we get more copies, we should hold a GH 2 tournament for our customers to see who earns the chance to buy a copy. Being all the copies were wiped clean out, with mobs of other people (and a few *******s, but thankfully not many) who stuck around to see if we would cough up any more, which we didn't.

It's understandable if people want a game badly, but it's sad to see someone get harassed over stock and availibility of a title. Somebody gave our electronics guy some bullshit over a Guild Wars expansion (our website gave them a different release date than our store up here, which releases the expansion two days after the website claims it's supposed to be out, and some ******* on the phone thought he was lying when he said that). GH 2 wasn't quite as fun as Halo 2 on its immediate release, I'll give it that, but there was still some rather party-hearty folks who looked heartbroken when they had to accept the current supply and demand. Strangely, GH 2 sold way better than FF XII did at our Wal-Mart. Okami and Power Stone Collection have also sold out completely too. Our sales are kinda weird when I think about it...

We've all been customers and clerks alike, but I just thought I'd give you guys that fun perspective (given I had a conversation with the electronics guys about GH 2, and saw some of the action). I have nothing against gamers, just those gamers that harass people when they don't get the game they want, when they want it. And most of the GH 2 fans were nice about it, just really intense for what I was expecting (still shocked FF XII didn't get as much of a rush).

But that's all from me, enjoy the game and rock on guys!

Note: Trogdor!? That does sound better!

I'm waiting for the 360 version of GH2. Hopefully along with downloadable tracks over Xbox Live they put in online co-op/versus play (get ready for some horrible singing over the headset and/or camera). And then there's the new Gibson "X-plorer" controller:

So I just got back from the Guitar Hero 2 Party, and oh man it was fun. I played the Trogdor song, along with a good 70% of the other songs. Really fun, I'm definitely buying it for myself soon.
