Heh. I found it rather interesting that my favorite arc (Greed Island >= York Shin >> Celestial Tower >> Hunter Exam, by the way...) was considered so terrible.
I'm not sure I have too much of a complaint; I can [sorta] see how someone might disagree. I don't really agree that HxH's primary focus has been action or fights - characters and introspection seemed to be more important, though.
I suppose for me that the show was incredibly fun, and changing the focus of the show didn't seem like a bad thing.
The way this site is set up, it seems like it is bad to be as imposing as possible when trying to disagree. Not really sure if I did this "properly". Well, whatever.
I agree with most things on the site, save FMP!, so I suppose it was more noticeable.

I don't disagree, I love HxH. It has its flaws, but there are anime out there that are really, really bad. Don't take it the negative comments on Greed Island too hard ^^

Yes, but I wanted to express my self-righteous anger.
You felt the anger, didn't you?

Mumei, I agree with you. I enjoyed this anime quite a bit. I think the reviewers were just finding reasons to dislike the anime.
I enjoyed Greed Island and Greed Island Final a hell of a lot more than others mostly because HxH is IMO one of the best anime to come out of Shounen Jump. The thing I like the most is that Gon and Killua have a long way to go to become the strongest nen users even though they have raw potential you can see a growth through their training. Greed Island is not my favorite arc though I thought it slowed the TV series down.

My fave arc was the one that directly followed the Hunter exam, especially when they were going up against Gen'ei Ryodan. All this culminated to the Greed Island OVA, eventually. One thing I loved about the characters in HxH is that they were very much flawed, in the sense that though in the story the heroes (Gon and Killua) were said to be potentially oh-so-powerful, Togashi-san stuck to the idea that they were still kids and very much vulnerable.
@etane
Personally, I think they've done that to most anime they've reviewed. I mean, they find something wrong about it. But, I'm not going to comment anymore on that. Got enough detention on real life already :P

Pffft, this is just another case of KTR and Eek not knowing shit.
Hunter X Hunter was great because it was fun. Not because it was serious, dramatic, and action-intensive a la the crappy first OVA.
Greed Island resumes the playful, game-like, light-heartedness that made the rest of the series so entertaining.

That's what I liked about it, though the entirety of the York Shin arc (including the first OVA) is still probably my favorite arc in the anime now. Rewatching changes things. <.<
Anyway, thanks for the responses.
