Congratulations Anime Academy!

I can safely say that without you guys, without the inspiration that this place gave me (yes it exists inside each and every one of us), I don't think my anime music video, Anime Academy Heroes (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=105541), would have made it as far as it did.

Last weekend as some of you would have known, Sakura Con (http://scmb.sakuracon.org/viewtopic.php?t=12766) in Seattle happened, and so did the AMV competition. I entered Anime Academy Heroes there in their Comedy segment.

As luck would have it, it won.

It won Best Comedy... Most Artistic... Judge's Award... and Best of Show.

:thud:

It seems for this I am to receive 3 trophies, 1 director's chair (I'm assuming this is the trophy for one of these categories), 4 DVD box sets and a clapper board signed by Guests (I'm assuming of Sakura Con). How that's going to reach me by mail is going to be interesting... it makes me regret and feel guilt the more that I wasn't able to attend Sakura Con this year... if it had only been next year when I am planning on a tour of the cons in the US :D

So yes... I want to thank the Academy... :XD:

Seriously though, you guys deserve my heart felt gratitude for the inspiration that I got. The guys and girls in the AARP thread deserve the praise as much because without the creative stories we put together there, this wouldn't have happened. A special word of thanks goes to Zero who took the time to report to me that first it was well received in the AMV screening on Friday and then that it won 3 things in the Closing Ceremony (yes he told me it won comedy, artistic and show, and so it was more the surprise when they told me it won judge's award too).

For those a bit confused, click here (http://www.animeacademy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21720) for the thread that might explain to you a bit more what I'm talking about.

Also, in my random musings, I found this video uploaded to YouTube by some random person, so you can check it out here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2p0xs1nL9Y), however I stress that this is really the lowest of the low qualities (which is why I do not upload my videos in YouTube) and it's better you download the version I have on my animemusicvideos.org account.

Nice one - I signed up at AMV to watch it. In fact I might dust off my ancient copy of Adobe Premier 0.01 and have a go myself sometime.

...And can I have your director's chair? :cute

To quote myself...

I think I can safely say with no bias what so ever that that was the greatest AMV of all time. Well done Shino.

So, I'm not in the least bit surprised it won. Congratulations Shino. That AMV is freakin' brilliant.

Liegy and DK, thanks :)

This is actually the second convention it's played at... I sent this in to AI Con as well, a brand new anime convention here in Australia in which it won Fan Favourite... man, I sound too much like I'm bragging, please shoot me if this is how I'm ending up looking... I wouldn't have even brought it up here but at the day that I posted this thread, I was, and still I suppose, shocked beyond belief that AAH did that well... :p

Yes... I'm... resurecting a dead thread. But there's a good reason... sort of. Well, in any case, I didn't want to make too big a deal out of this :p

Anyway, the Viewer's Choice Award (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/amvvca/2007/) in www.animemusicvideos.org have now reached the Finals. In it, Anime Academy Heroes has made it, in contention with 4 other awesome videos for the title of Best Instrumental Video.

As the title suggests, this is something that viewers vote on. So if you've got a user account in the org and want to show your appreciation or want to display your loyalty to the Academy, then this is your chance. Support Anime Academy Heroes... IT'S YOUR STORY!

I'm gonna be blunt here... I want you to vote for this... and none of the other videos, regardless of their awesomeness. In return... I'll... umm... get you backstage access to the Melbourne Anime Festival if you're ever around (not that there's much of a "backstage" :XD:)

Voting ends April 12.

And yes, I know it's taking a long time, but part 2 is on the works -_-

Holy **** on a **** Sandwich. Congrats Shino, glad to hear it won. It deserves it. Did anyone ask what the plot or what the characters are based off?

ShinoMatrix
03-31-2007, 05:46 AM
Well, I made it so that it can work as a stand alone piece, however in my video description page, I've made extensive references to where it all began.

Anyway, it hasn't won yet :p

I'm just saying it's in the Finals round and needs some vote pimping ;)

I totally missed this thread when you first posted this but I didn't know that video was made by you. I really like the video I even have it saved on one of my disks oblivious that is was made be someone on here. :D

Good Luck with the VCA awards I voted for you!

sorry...I had to vote for Ordained from Above. That AMV was quite an experience. But good luck with the award!

sorry...I had to vote for Ordained from Above. That AMV was quite an experience. But good luck with the award!

I hadn't seen that one before. I admit it was very entertaining. Especially considering it was mostly people typing in the video. :D

Though in general I really like Many Lemons. They created my favorite One Piece video.

Sorry to go off topic. I still really like ShinoMatrix's video. Ordained from Above was in several categories so I voted for it in a couple just not best instrumental.

I, too, missed this thread when it was posted. Damn, I enjoyed that video, mainly because I was intimately involved in it's initial inspiration. It's pretty good on it's own right, but I suggest that if people have the time, slog through the AARP thread. Then try and pick who is who.

My favourite line:

'Let me guess. Gundam.'
'Yep.'

I don't know how, but some massive weapon of awesome destruction always somehow managed to find it's way into our adventures.

Good luck on the current contest, and congrats on last years win.

Oh, has there been any movement on the lastest RP ideas that were bandied about in IRC....last year?

Oh, has there been any movement on the lastest RP ideas that were bandied about in IRC....last year?

Err... dead in the water is probably a good way to describe it :p

Anyway, thanks guys for the support. I'll update again when the results are out :D
