I don't think RPGamer allows direct linking to images.

All I am hoping for is that it will not turn into another Star Ocean 3 or Radiata Stories (not that they are bad games, but their stories were pretty disappointing).

I hear alot of people enjoyed Valkyrie Profile; I didn't like it very much. The story sounds very interesting, but the game play was just a headache for me to get through. I think that I only ever got as far as defeating the first boss before I put the game away.

* Linuts puts on "VP Fanboy" headband

You press a button... A character attacks... How hard can that be? And to abandon the game at the first boss already? Tsk tsk tsk...

* Linuts puts down headbad

Well it's too bad though... I'd recommend you to give it another try if you're ever in the mood, cause VP is one of the sleeper hits of the PSOne era...

*AO Hangs head in shame*

*AO cries twin waterfalls*

You are right. I will give it another chance. It was quite some years ago, so things might be different now.

*AO flies home to retrieve old games once more*

Link doesn’t work because I’m using a school computer, they block all sites that are not school related, and I think AA isn’t blocked from the filter because it has the word academy in it. Doesn’t matter though, I figured out what the game is. I remember almost buying it one time but didn’t because I've never heard much about it.

hmm sounds interesting I do like tri-aces work

I'm on a school computer and it never troubles any of my sites. anime academy, anime high school and runescape all go through just fine

I just learned today they are using a friends animation rendering technique, so it should looking amazing.

I love tri-ace, especially the Star Ocean games. Unlike Linuts I loved the SO3 story. :p But it is a one-time only type story, once you know the twist it isn't as fun (but I'm replaying it for the 3rd time! Still good!)

Can't wait for this game. Going to be in 2007 for US, or knowing tri-ace maybe 2008... ;(

Yes! This great RPG is getting a new game that is an entirely new story a few hundreads of years before the first game. The only difference I have since so far is that now there are no sprites and hand-drawn backgrounds, the game is still 2D, in terms of movement but it is all rendered in 3d, making it look cool.

If you never played the original, you will have a hard time finding it, since it is a game for the PS, no PS2, but if you have a PSP, Square-Enix (the original was before they merged, by Enix) will be realeasing it for it. So, you snatch that and get hold of a huge and greta cast of characters with a great plot. If you don't have a PSP, but you do have a PS or a PS2 try to get, but it will be pricy. Very pricy.

More info here:
Valkyrie Profile 2: http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/valkyrieprofilesilmeria/index.html?q=valkyrie%20profile

PSP version of the original:
http://www.gamespot.com/psp/rpg/valkyrieprofilelenneth/index.html?q=valkyrie%20profile

PS Version AKA the original:
http://www.gamespot.com/ps/rpg/valkyrieprofile/index.html?q=valkyrie%20profile <--- Don't let the 7.0 score fool you. That game is easily a 9.

I'll miss the hand-drawn backgrounds and te sprites, but it still looks awesome. And I do blame Square for shifting the game to 3d rendered.

I swear I've posted about this ages ago... :p

Anyway, this is the first game I will buy in a while. I loved VP, so I can't possibly miss this.

BTW, SquareEnix is planning to re-release the original VP for playstation as a classic collection title... In Japan anyway. Hopefully, they will do the same here. The last time I checked on EBay, the game has already went over the 100 dollar price mark.

I played it at E3. VP Silmeria has the best battle system ever put into an RPG, I kid you not.
