So, to all of those that haven't heard of it, go to: www.skype.com
To those that have, post your contact info in here, so who ever wants to talk to you can do it.
My skype username is pretty obvious: dtortot

I guess there are some ignorants still around.
Skype is program that allows you to have conversations over the internet like a normal phone all over the world, as long as the other person has Skype.
So if I have slype and you have it, we can talk like if it was a normal phone call, except it is for free.

Ive used it for quite some time, and it works very well. You can have up to 4 people in voice chat, but if you download vSkype (http://www.techcrunch.com/2005/06/15/profile-vskype/) then you can have more, as well as video chat.
I mostly use it because everyone on the amateur voice acting boards I got has it.

Just tried out vSkype and I must say that IT SUCKS BALLS.
A really big drop in quality, an increase in lag, and it's kind of confusing. I think that having just the 5 people is worth keeping the quality.

Love Skype, but also love Gizmo (http://gizmoproject.com/) (I found it back in June and began liking it more than Skype, it's prettier >.> :O). I found it has better sound quality than skype for internet calls. But Skype wins for land-line calls.
SkypeOut and SkypeIn are our primary telephone because our families are back in Arizona, and we bought a 623 number for it, so it's very handy. Family doesn't have to pay international to call us, nor do we.
Anyway, skype name is ChesireKoneko but I am hardly on it except when calling my mom. So don't expect me to chat all the time.
Same name on Gizmo too.

It can be a little akward at first, but you get used to it quickly after. Especially if your talking to more than one person. Makes for less akward slilence moments. :D
Roark and I used Skype while he was in Japan. Decent program, but it has its downsides.

I'd be wary of Skype. In a lot of cases it can lower one's opinion of others. Those lovely gay jokes and flames that people toss about like water balloons on the forums/IRC/whatever quickly turn to hard stone once you hear it from the horse's (or in some case, ass') mouth.
A fair warning, I'd think.

Why not use Gizmo (http://www.gizmoproject.com/) then? I use it instead of Skype a lot of the time and is a lot leaner than it too... probably will work better on shit computers.

The newer versions of Skype have problems with memory leakage, which really just cause all sorts of problems. They're not as stable as they were six months ago, which really sucks, since I'd never had a problem with it before version 1.4 or something around there. The Skype people need to make their product less broken, because it was really good and they made it crap. :/
I should probably check this Gizmo thingie out, too...

So if you can get your hands on an older release, you may have an advantage in that case.
It's freeware, so it's okay to link, rite? Here (http://www.skype.com/go/getskype) you go, Mana. Skype 1.0.0.9 for Windows. Page is http://www.dvhardware.net/software/131.
If the link isn't allowed, I'm sure you'll edit it out. ^_^

I'm pandoras_xbox, but I don't wanna talk to you if I don't know you. That's just awkward. At least take me out and buy me dinner first.

This is a lady you have to wine and dine before you get to hear her sulty Southern accent. Hopefully I can measure up. <3 Em.
soh and I tried that silly Gizmo thing a while back. It totally did not work for us at all. We had an awful time getting it to connect. When I tried to sign in, the program would give me some sort of unrecoverable error, then totally shut down. This happened every time I opened the damn thing. So we junked that idea real fast. I'm guessing the Windows client is total crap compared to the Linux version. Skype's still top shit for now.
