I absolutely love the first one. The hair looks especially fantastic. A++
The second one is nice, very clean. Their elbows are very pointy. 0.o
In the third one, I love the tree-dude. He looks awesome. Nice touch with the bird in his hair. XD The chick's butt is way too small, though. Her flared cropped pants are cute. Oh, and great coloring. ^_^
I'm not really liking the fourth one, though. :'( The red head looks okay, but overall the coloring kinda throws me off.
And you're in Texas, so you automatically rawk. XD

Newbie of the year. Hands-down.
In that fourth one, I think Lina's hair is kinda flaring too much to the left. It'd be understandable if it was windy, but Gourry's big blonde waterfall of hair is just hanging there like normal.
Also, in the second pic, the girl on the left. Around where her hair ends, the perspective gets a little screwy. Between that and her waist, she resembles a cardboard cutout. Try adding some width or round shadowing to her shoulders and arms, particularly the right hand.
First one is so damn pretty.
And the third -- I want to know the thought process behind that one. :D

You've definitely got some talent. A ton more than me, that's for sure. I don't think I'm qualified enough to comment properly on all of them, but they're all really, really good, especially for original and fanart. My favorite is definitely the Slayers one. Lina's face looks a little weird, but that could just be your style. Doesn't really matter, as I still think it's all awesome. :>
Keep up the good work.

Hah, well, when I was drawing the third one, it was just going to be a guy with an afro. But then my friend said it looked like the top of a tree so I turned him into one XD.
Thanks for the advice, too! (Teh, the first one was done when I was bored in Health class last year ^^; )

I quite enjoy that second there (the one with the guy with chains on his neck)...
I find myself relating to it quite a bit... most of my thoughts are a jumble of lines... these days anyway... apart from glasses though (and mine are oval), there's nothing else that's similar to me with the pic :p
All in all, yes, I agree with the others... there's talent there. Keep up the good work!

I have to say your artwork is very nice. You have a style that I find interesting, specifically in the very last pic you posted. That being said:
The quality of your shading and coloring varies quite a bit from picture to picture. Your first colored pic has great coloring and shading, the second has average shading. The third is sub par, while the last one is over par.
Another suggestion:
Try giving your drawings actual backgrounds. Put them in a setting. Doing so will add a lot of life to your drawings even if your backround sketch is bad or lacking a lot of detail.

Where do I start........
First set: 1)The shadings great and the hair is awsome(not a lot of people can get thoses). 2) A little plain but the drawings good. 3) She doesn't have a butt. I like how you drew the little branches poking out of his shirt and the. Its very neat. 4) To good for me to judge.
Second set:1) I like how she stands outside the boarder and great color to pick(I'm a green lover;P). 2) Good coloring and shading. He doesn't look that upset but I guess thats what you were going for. The puffy greenish thing on his neck what is that?
Nice Job on all!

I have to say that all of these are really great, the way the some of the coloring is done, the shading. I have no clue how to do the coloring like that but i do know how to use ink after i am done drawing i use ink over top of my drawings if i can get a scanner that will help me out then i will show ya guys, I would really like to see some more of you drawings.

Your newest colored pics are very well done. I think the way you do your hair is interesting... But you might be over doing it a bit with all those hair lines. It makes the hair look a little stiff and ...uuh .."wire"-ry (?).
But your coloring is very good. One more thing you can work on is to make your characters look less flat. Don't over exaggerate your oulines too much. Try to imagine your characters in 3D and visualise how you will follow the contours of their bodies with your pencil.
I can't comment much on your Salem P.D. comic yet since there still aren't that many pages to read through. A nice post WW3 alternate universe plot though ^^. Are you interested in a link exchange, by chance? ^^

wonderful.... you are a super artist!!!!!!!! this pucture is really cute, and i love how the wings arn't attached, idk i just really like that in this picture n_n I cannot wait to see more!!! just one question though, why is the girl in the blue, why is her face fuzzy looking? well its like got a softer touch to it, whereas the girl in the pink has a sharper face, may i ask why you did that? or how that happened?

Very nice job, another artist is joins AA ^^. Well to say I do like the colors you chose for this particular drawing, the shades are nicely done and overall for that you did a great job. Now to say for the drawing itself, I like your drawing style, and I especially like the way you drew the girl on the right. Though I have to say the girl on the left of the drawing, I'd saw that her elbows could've been more curved as well as her legs, both I find need to have more of a curve to them.
Other than that, I pretty much like it. Good job.
Nicotine
11-01-2005, 03:13 AM
Yeah, I could have done better on the girl on the left. She's one of the major reasons why I don't like that pic much XD. I made it blurry in some places on purpose but I guess it didn't give such a good effect. ^^;

Really nice picture. The feet look a little off, not quite flat on the ground.. but other than that the perspective looks really cool ^_^

The coloring for the picture I like the most on the drawing, however, I find that some parts are a bit shaped 'differently'. One thing is the curve of her feet and up to her ankles, and the second is supposedly if it's a cell phone she dropped it doesn't look much like a cell phone^^;;; Other than that I like the way you sketched it and colored it, good job.

her feet are off (as has been stated) but idk I think it looks just like a cell phone (its a pink flip-phone with bubbles on it, right?) anywho, yeah the perspective is totally cool though, I don't think I've ever seen a pic drawn like this before! n_n The buildings in the backgroud add a lot to the picture too, they make it more interesting... I also love how angled the word bubble is, that makes it really like pop out more too n_n I like it!

It's really set-up nice. Everything flows with each other and the colors are finely placed. You have a good sense of highlights, shadows, and all those lighting items. However, your legs are bent in a weird way and the left leg (her left) seems a lil' flat. Her right foot looks sprained. It kinda puts me in pain to see ^__^;; . Work on anatomy and your planes of view and you'll be set. I'll be looking for your next submission.

Some good stuff. Obviously you need to work on proportion a little (For the pictures for which proportion is applicable.). Colour isn't bad at all, better than mine. It's all pretty cutesy stuff. Maybe try to broaden your material, if you are interested.
Props on the name, it's inspired me to have a cigarette.

its kind of random.... (how its just legs) but I like it....
I think my favourite part is the pink swishes you added going across her legs (no not the ballet shoes, the brush strokes) I know thats an odd thing to like, but they add just a little like (idk how else to put it) but they just catch your eye and bring it to the ankles of the dancer. I don't know, I just like those.
I think the dangling part of the dress could use a little work, it just looks like folded or frumpled rather than a flowing dancers dress. Nice color selection again, I like the lavender and blues and pinks, very girly/feminine, I like them a lot n_n
Overall its a great pice other than the dangling piece of dress (on the right) but yeah I really like this picture too! (its like abstract almost... idk I just think its awesome!)

I really like this drawing of yours, how you drew the face upwards and added good shading throughout the picture. Good way you drew the hair curled and wavy adds more to the realism of the drawing, good job there. Though one thing about the drawing is the neck and how it moves up to meet the chin, it seems that the part is too wide on the face. It looks like it needs more of a curve on that area, other than that I really like this piece you have here. Good job.

I agree about the neck, it just looks straight, it doesn't really have much depth or demention (except the adams apple) and the mouth looks a tad bit small for the face, but otherwise the hair and the ear are really good, I don't think this is your best drawing but it is well drawn n_n (I really like the background too, you do them very well and they make the pictures look so nice!!!!) :)

BTW, I love your sig. Creepy much? :XD:
I have a mixed bag of feelings about your art and often any time an artist sticks to a familar theme. On the one hand the design and detail in your art are really quite extraordinary and really displays how much effort you put into it, making the picture all the more beautiful. But on the other, the "anime inspired" art I find to be unoriginal and after awhile boring, that's not to say that some of your pictures aren't orginal. I think an artist with your talent should try their hand at drawing a variety of things even though the picture may not be the best, but hey at least you gave it a shot. Finally the adding of the colour, I think some of the pictures look really good with it but others could certainly do without it, for example this new picture, I think would have worked better had it been done in pencil.

I see what you're saying, lots of people tell me that. I guess the reason why my art is so anime influenced is because I started drawing because I liked anime, plus I had a friend who was really good at it. Once in awhile, I do some realism sketches (people, flowers..) I'll probably post some here later. I know I still have room to grow - I've only been drawing for 3 years ^^;

yup, I think actually her leg is a little to thick and her foot looks odd, but maybe its just an optical illusion (???) anyways its a totally cool picture, I love the whole idea behind it. It's just playful and happy lol it made me smile.

wow the solids one is nice :)
just a few things...
Her face is a bit misshapen, I think also the shoulder is alittle high up compared to the position the rest of her body is in. Did you use a reference? if not I would suggest buying an anatomy reference book. I think it would be really helpful :)
your anime drawings are good. But to improve on your porportions, Dabbling in realism abit (doing anatomy studies and whatnot) would be a great way to improve :).

I really like the realism that you put into most of your pictures, it is simply remarkable of what you're creating. The hair and expression on her face is what I like the most, the detail put into it is what mostly stands out, in my opinion. Though for critism I find that the shading on the skin tone of the girls face is a bit sketchy and that her left eye, the one farthest out is a bit too small. Sorry if my critism is idiotic at all stating that, the picture is still very good otherwise. I hope to see more of your drawings in the future^^

I like how the picture is done just like the rest of you art, but the hole in here head really doesnt seem to fly with me. Now the detail of this is awsome so there are some bonus points on this, the only thing that i dont really enjoy on this image is the hole in her head the rest is great.

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, the bullet hole was rather random XD. I was bored that day, I was also bored when I did this just now ^^;:

Ohnos! She's going to jump off the edge! Stop her before she bleeds all over those socks!!

I donno if that's what your perspective is (the person is tiptoeing at the edge of a ledge?), but if it is as above, nice... ...

it's nice!! really good..the only problem is that her head and shoulders seem abit to large cocmpared to the rest of her body :) nice job!!

The art work is good, SM is right the head does throw off the body a little and it sorta looks like a guy, but I think that the shoulders look just fine, the legs are what look to skinny to me. But I like the start and I would like to see more of this character if you decide to fix it up.

I realize the legs are thin, I did that purposely, but I do agree with the head, it's much to big XD. I don't think the had is making it better ^^;. Here's another picture of that same character:

If your wondering what my story is about, here's a short summery. It's going to be a challenge though, seeing as I know nothing about the 70's XD:
Finally, long time friends Daniel Langley and Chuck Peterson (both purebred Southern boys) have graduated from Central High School in Macon, Georgia as part of the class of 1970. Their days of having fun, rocking out, taking road trips and their memories of Woodstock '69 are laid to rest for a future of college and boring jobs, right? Wrong! As far as Daniel and Wallace are concerned, they're just getting started. They hope to spread their country-flavored rock and make it out of their small southern town and finally "get to workin' on bein' somebodays!" - that is if they can successfully get on a record label. Once they recycle their college applications and get on the road of their dreams, Daniel and Wallace begin to notice how shady the business is. Picking up their drummer, Naomi-May Jackson was a relief, but they're still in for a long ride. Unfortunately, they're too determined to turn back.
Welcome to the dubious world of the music business. Popularity don't come easy.

The image of the Girl is better than the last but it seems that the head is off set, I dont like to point these things out because it makes me feel bad. Now I am no story writer myself I have tried twice and I actually seen some light but your story as of right now I find to be really good. For a person that doesnt know alot about 70's you have showed plenty enough of it. I like it keep going please.

It really seems like a good start of the comic so far, but it's really hard to judge by anything by just a first page. I like the art style that you have here, it seems that you drew everything with a simple outlook, but it stands out well with the shading that you did.
Though I do have to say that it does look like you don't have much experience on drawing cars, quite yet. Not to be mean at all by saying this, I just find that in the first panel the car is really has less appeal to it. But everyone I find has trouble drawing cars, especially from the front end. Other than that, it is a good start on everything.

Nope, I don't, and it's not mean that you said that XD. I'm going to try to work on that because I'll have to be drawing cars later on, of course. I'm just so used to drawing people.

I like the first page of the comic, it is very good for a first time comic.
Like said before it is hard to judge what the comic will turn out to really, even though it is a great start.
The title page is done really well the color stands out great, the only thing is the guy with the bandage looks different from the first page of the comic, even though that is normall. I look forward to some more.

It is very dark, but that was your intention here. Looks like it took some time to do because of all the detail that you put into it and it being so dark probably added some more problems, umm is the persons eye bleeding it looks like it is or maybe it is just something else.

Its really good, but the shadowing on the chest is a little funny looking I think, like I mean it makes the person look over weight >.> maybe its just me, but other than that, wow. I love it, great job!!!!

I dunno. That drawing started as a glob of black and I just ran with it. ^^;
It looks really good but the wings coming off his head make it look a little stupid and his head seems a tad bit out of preportion. They just don't seem to blend.

I've been following your art thread, though I haven't yet had a chance to comment, so here's one for you!
I love your latest painting. The features are really well-developed; you have an excellent grasp of where real-life values lie in the color scale. (That made no sense...what I mean is, most people tend to go too light on their lighter colors and too dark on their darker colors, thus skewing the balance and making it look really fake and unrealistic. You don't do that.) It's a fabulous skill.
In addition to being well-developed, most of the features are well-placed, but I can't help but notice that the top portion of the face is a little bit out of proportion to the bottom half of the face. Try to think of the eyes as a sort of half-way point on the head - it sounds strange, but you'll probably be surprised by how much more proportionate things will look.
Other than that, nice job!

Page two of my comic. I did it two different ways. The first one is the same way I did the first page and the second I used simpler shading and more tones. Which one's more appealing?

The first link that you gave us was a picture of you I think so I really cant comment on that because it isnt part of the comic^ ^ , however the second link is good to talk about. The story is coming along good and the illistrations are still good to so all I can say is keep going and it will be a good comic.

pretty good :) only problem really is proportions and it really doesn't have a very finished look..I understand if your going for the sketchy style..but it just looks kinda messy really..I'm assuming you do all your coloring on oekaki?
also the placement of the panels is pretty nice..the one profile shot of the blond guy is a bit random but i like it :) Good start!

No - I draw the comics by hand then color them in Photoshop. It's just so hard for me to control color in there sometimes, it's kind of ridiculous but I can't always keep in the lines ^^;. I don't use the fill button because that would mess the lines up, instead I color under them. I want a tablet so I'll have more control, my birthday is comming up so hopefully my parents got the hint that that's what I want XD.

oooooh i bet you could do wonders with a tablet <3
they take some getting used to but once youg et the hang of it using a mouse seems almost sinful XDD I understand what you mean about photoshop and colors. photoshop is really frustrating sometimes.

Well I commented on your first comic page, so I have to comment on your second now^^ So far I do like how the story is progressing, but I still would like to see more before I judge on anything, since it is only 2 pages along. I do like the first link of shading over the second link, the second link's shading to me is much more grainy and I just don't find that style appealing. Other than that, the drawings and shading are both coming along well so far, a steady pace, but a pace none the less. Good job, and I can't wait to see more.^^
