Here is the official website website (www.j-blackcat.com).
I'm not a huge GONZO fan, but they have entertained me in the past. I'm gonna be watching the first episode as soon as I can get my hands on it, then I'll post my opinion.

I'm actually interested in seeing what some of the opinions on this series are, since this is a "maybe" as far as series I follow this season is concerned. Some of what I've seen of it around the place looks really intriguing. But some of the shots I've seen just look silly.

Looks like another Gonzo series. Pretty to look at, not so much inside, maybe worth your while.

I've read a little of the manga (about 5 volumes) and it wasn't bad just not great either. Since the manga is over at least you know the anime won't drag on. I'll probably check a few episodes out.

The scriptwriter worked on the scenerio for Gankutsuou so I'm somewhat hopeful, but the director is undistinguished...

Episode 1
It looks like its going to be very familiar for anyone whos seen a GONZO series, but, even so, it was better than I was expecting. The music and Seiyuu were preety good, except for the ending song...it just felt out of place. It was too happy and cute for an anime thats about an assassin.
So far, the characters seem to be very typical GONZO characters. Nothing we havent seen before many other times, hopefully this will change in future episodes.
If your reading this, you probbably know wether or not your gonning to want to check this one out already. If you like GONZO, then you'll probbably want to give this one a chance. It may very well be worth it in the end. I'm personally going to continue to watch this, I have hopes for it, but at the same time, I fear that it might end up being rather average and boring.

Huh. That was... interesting. Not the greatest series I've seen, but not bad. It was pretty confusing, though; I felt like I was watching a sequel or something. I'll have to see some more episodes before I decide whether or not to follow it.

FYI, GONZO has a pretty bad rep, but the last couple of years have seen some pretty decent material from them, like Gankutsuou, Last Exile, Kaleido Star and Speed Grapher

After watching the first episode it seems that the anime is going to be based on the manga and not actually follow it. I guess only time will tell if this is a good or bad thing. But I have to say I much prefer the manga character designs.

Episode 1
Let me sum up this episode in one word: Mediocre. The animation is sub-par and the music is bland. The characters are all cliched and it seems that we have a tragic bishounen as a lead character. I'll continue to watch this since the first episode wasn't that bad, but the ending song scare me. I just hope this doesn't go in the way of pseudo shounen ai. (Oh wait, too late)

Please... tell us what you REALLY think.
Joking aside, this one seems like a bland series. Darn... Gonzo = inconsistent

I agree, especially the main character seemed like he was borrowed from oh... just about every other Shounen series out there.

Yeah, the ending song just seemed so out of place. It started playing and I was wondering for a second if I was still watching the same show.

Actually, they are quite consistant if you look at their casting (mainly the director or the script writer). The director of Speed Grapher worked on the storyboards of Zeta Gundam, Gundam ZZ, V Gundam and Infinite Ryvius, while the director here is relatively unknown.

No, it's actually about a black cat. You must've got the old wires crossed there.

I don't think he actually has cat eyes (unless the anime is changing things). I think he is called the black cat because he brings bad luck like a black cat (also why his number is 13). Although he is a little catlike in appearance and actions as well.

I thought he was the reincarnation of Felix the Cat, who became a vengeful spirit after being assasinated by Betty Boop.

The animation was pretty good, but besides that I was confused the entire episode. This may be from the fact that I have not read the manga. The only thing I really grasped is that their is a child assasain who has mysterious catlike powers(?), then there is some kind of undercover cop who has a soecial eye that lets him see into the future. He's after the forementioned kid and will eith join him or continue th chase him through the entire series.
Whoever said this feels more like a sequal is definatly right. I will reserve my true judgement for leter though.

Episode 2
Dear god. I just realized that everyone is a cliched stereotype. I had my doubts since episode one, but this episode tells me that this anime has no future. Being a fair critic, I'll stick with it, but the show has better shape up fast.
On another note, it seems that that Kimono girl is not what she appears. Instead of a more restrained character, she reminds of an odd cross between Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin and Faye (CB).

She also looks like Fu (I think thats right) from Samurai Champloo.
Episode 2
I actually enjoyed this episode more than the first, it was interesting. We learned more about some characters, like our Fu look-a-like, shes not just an ordinary girl, shes also a "sweeper" and can hold her own. (More or less) It wasnt without its flaws however, I still think its lacking in the music department, it needs that jazzy feel that Gad Guard had. Not to mention that the ending song still doesnt fit at all. He was pointing a gun at a girl, I'm all wondering "Is he gonna shoot her?!" Then BANG, dancing kitty people appear and ruin the mood, rather than the slow moving, sad, and dramatic song that it should of had. Standing alone, I kind of like the ending song, its funny seeing the characters as...cats...and interacting with each other in funny ways, but just not in this anime.
I'm kind of enjoying this one, to my surprise. I'm actually anticipating the next episode.

Episode 3
I can't stress enough how cliched this anime is. There is enough entertainment to keep me around, but I can't imagine going past five episodes at this pace. The show has already exhausted all its potential. The actions of the characters are baffling at this point. It is annoying to see another seemingly air-headed girl... Ugh..
On another note:

Alright before I made the mistake of forming a new thread on Black Cat since I was very tired, I got to watch the first episode. I must say I'm veru intrigued both with the animation style and the plot. It's a cool new interesting show. I am interested about the guy with the eyepatch and Black Cat himself.

If it stays true to the manga it will become a strange magical power, conspiracy plot, with a group of 4 that kind of reminds you of a more modern version of Lupin and his gang.
Since i’m a fan of the manga, I may be a bit biased, but I think it’s pretty good so far.

Episode 3
Still not original at all, but still keeping my interest. Was it just me, or was it kind of a good thing that the Fu-look a like wasnt in this episode? (Except for the very beggining where she was singing.) Anyway, the ending song is still completely out of place, but kind of catchy.
Episode 4 is out, hopefully I'll get around to watching it soon.

Right now, this is one of my favorites of this season. I'm enjoying the interactions between the characters and the battles are silky smooth. There are many conflicts that will prove to be very intresting once they get resolved, my only problem is (hevent read the manga) that according to the intro, there are a few more characters to be shown and with only eight episodes, they won't be any development. There really isn't that much developmen for the current characters except for the Gentlemen (and thats limited).

I'm kind of enjoying Black Cat so far. I've seen up to episode 5. The characters are a bit cliched, but they're all pretty likable and overall the show is really easy to enjoy and get into. I am a little dissapointed to see the series is only 13 episodes as it does seem that a few characters will go underdeveloped.
