Are the Gundam Seed Movies any good? I thought about getting them but I wanna hear from some AnimeAcademy students' opinions on them if they've seen it. (._.)

They're just ninety-minute compilations of the episodes with very little (if no extra footage).

They essentially go like so:
Movie 1 goes up to Desert Tiger Arc
Movie 2 goes up to them reaching Alaska
Movie 3 covers episodes 41-50

I've actually never seen them but don't have much desire to either - condensed clip shows have never been my thing. See what resident SEED expert Shino says when he comes along though, he knows his SEED far better than me :D

/me wishes volumes five and six were released in the UK NOW rather than October

Ironically enough, I've never seen the movies. I'm with Tremolo when it comes to compressed stories in that I find the build up (no matter how many re-used cells, or overdrawn story with supposedly not enough character development) in the long run series to be much more fulfilling.

I guess in the end, what the movies *might* entail is far less filler/recaps and the the re-used cell problems :p

Oh, and I'm to assume also the great songs that come out on the season episodes will not be making too much of an appearance, so there's something to not look forward to.

I don't know, if you've seen the series, it really won't hurt to watch the movies. But if you haven't, don't watch them... I made that mistake with RahXephon and now RahXephon is in my anime 'must-hate' list after seeing the movie before the series.

Being as i'm the only one that has actually watched them... They aren’t bad, especially considering how bad some condensed anime movies are.

The movies cut out a lot of the stupid parts I didn't like in the show but also messes up on some of the action sequences. Overall, you get a better experience just watching the series skipping a couple episodes and the use of a fast forward button a few times.

They retcon a few things, specifially the very end is different, and the implied death of one character is removed, so he can alive for Destiny.

Which, from the moment I heard it, I felt became the crappiest aspect of the movie entirely. *sigh*

Some things should be left dead and buried...

I saw it and was throughly dissapointed, possibly because I didin't expect a recapt whn I went into viewing it.

Nope never seen it, and never will. Frankly, suffering through the tediousness that's the beginning, the rising expectation of the middle and the utter disappointment at the end once is enough.

I saw the first one and you're not missing anything but this sex scene with Kira and Fllay.

These are nothing like the compilation movies for the original Gundam series. Those were awesome. Also, those are the closest thing you'll get to a Japanese audio track for the series since supposedly they are badly damaged so they only released a dub version when they released the series on DVD.

Getting off topic... you can get bootlegs with badly done subtitles that don't make much sence too. Also, some fansub group is trying to translate them... they're going very slow though. Also, I'm looking forward to the Zeta Gundam compilation movies. From the previews I've seen, those look pretty cool.

Actually, when I first heard about it I thought for sure it would be something to fill the gap between Seed and Seed Destiny, but like Escaflowne the movie and what everyone else has already said, just a retelling of the story with some new things added in. But I do have to add that the idea of condensing the entire series into three 'movies' isn't such a bad idea *ducks thrown books* No really, think of it, buying all ten volumes is really going to cost you compared to buying three volumes- or it's like reading the abridged version to a book rather then the unabridged ^^; It's also a plus for anyone who isn't patient enough to sit through the entire series before getting started on Destiny.

i was wondering how they could make a movie after a series and what it would be about. this is a big let down.
