Although the show is coming to a close (23 of the 26 episodes have been fansubbed), I realized that there was never a thread for this. That's a shame; this show is pretty awesome.

Is anyone other than me following this?

I think it's licensed, so I haven't seen it yet. Too poor at the moment.

Yeah, it's not licensed or anything like that. Maburaho, Mahoromatic, and all those other animes that have similar titles are.

I sit corrected. Never started this one. I always figured that whichever seasonal titles I didn't pick up, someone else would. See, I was trying to start the ball rolling in this way so that several regulars could watch anime and tell the rest of us how it goes before we invest the time and / or money in acquiring said anime. Loner picked up Zettai Shounen and is running with that one, so I was kinda hoping I'd start a trend.

Ah well. I guess that whole thing was my reason I never got into this one.

No it hasn't been liscensed your thinking Mabaraho maybe. As for the series in question its a very good episode but the story arch with Sayako and Asami was very intersting and really took it from being a comedy anime into full drama mode even if it was for a couple of episodes. I can't wait to see how they finish this series off. Oh and btw the Occult Club president is one of my fav character's man what a freak so funny.

It's not the most original anime ever, but the comedy works, and there isn't any fanservice, so that's always nice.

It's very cute. None of the characters look or sound older than 12, which is off-putting at first. However, I do feel like they could be doing much more with it than they are. There are plenty of potential plot threads that could be more interesting than what they're doing, like the reason for Kozue's condition beyond writing it off as a simple quirk.

I agree, it looks very cute, and I've heard nothing but good things about it. It's one of the ones I'm desperately (but quietly) waiting to get finished fansubbed.

I don't like it. It's just not my type.

Agreed. Kozue's "condition" kept me watching after the first episode. So little is explained about that though. Then again, there have been a lot of hints with the bells she wears.

Anyway, I like this show. It has its own cute charm to it. And Sayako's dead-weight personality wins the entire show :D.

I have all the volumes that have been released so far... the show is all right or else I wouldn't be collecting em'. (Way to go... point out the obvious, LadyYuina...) I tend to reprimand myself quite a bit... just not out loud but I wanted to type this one... ~(' . ' *)~ {Weirdo}

Yatta! I became a Senior with this *post* ^^

I just watched the last three episodes of Mahoraba today.

To be honest, episodes 24 and 25 left a very bad taste in my mouth. They used the same jokes over and over again, and they just weren't funny anymore. Instead, I was annoyed.

But episode 26 worked for the most part, delivering a cute and happy ending. Yay! ^_^

This isn't a review or anything, but just my general opinions on the series as a whole.

I loved the art style. I think they made all the characters look really cute. However, it was little too shiny for my tastes. Also, I thought Shiratori was ugly. The animation is fine. Nothing spectacular.

The OP and ED were both weak, IMO. However, I liked the weird techno-ish background music. The majority of the voice acting was disturbingly high pitched. That got annoying after a while. But it's not bad at all.

Each episode pretty much stands by itself, as there is hardly any overall plot. It's okay though. My favorite episodes were the ones that concentrate completely on a single resident, like Episode 16. Those worked. Kozue's multiple personalities were funny at first, but they got old really fast. After seeing them more than a couple times, I got sick of them. Many episodes focus on the comedy, and that's fine, because the comedy rocks.

However, I do feel like they could be doing much more with it than they are. There are plenty of potential plot threads that could be more interesting than what they're doing, ...
I agree with this entirely.

The characters are cool, for the most part. Tamami, Momono, Asami, and Sayoko all get a little development, at least. Haibara doesn't really get any attention. Kozue is fairly interesting at first, with the mental disorder and all, but IMO, she got boring. Shiratori is your standard, uninteresting, friendly loser. Except this time, he looks like a girl.

It works. IMO, some of the episodes were downright hilarious. Watch a few episodes. On the other hand, if the comedy or cuteness don't work on you, Mahoraba is going to be hard to like. I <3 Sayoko.

It's actually pretty awesome, for the most part. However, it got a little stale towards the end.

Just watched the first episode.

OMG THIS IS JUST AS CUTE AS HELL.

I can fully understand why a lot of people have nicknamed it "Moe-raba". It's played out pretty much exactly how I imagined it. Very light-hearted, innocent, cute with a fair cast of humourous characters. And a shitload of "moe". Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen so much "moe" in my life. And that's just the first episode.

Anyway, I really look forward to seeing how the rest of the series turns out.

OKAy, time to crash your OMIGAWD KAWAII party <_<
first of all it is unscientific to say koze has "multiple personality disorder" (this has been bugging me and my psychology knowledge)
the proper term is DID (dissociative identiry disorder) because there is no proff that certain parts of the brain are certain personalities, very little is known about how, but it appears more like teh brain dissociates or shifts changing the person't personality and thinking ways.
NO MULTIPLE PERSONALITIES >_<!!
you jsut shift...
either way i have seen all the episodes and the anime was pretty good especialy the ending, loved every bit of it.

even though they said "multiple personalities" <_<

Finished.

I gotta say, despite some rather tedious periods during this anime, for the most part, it was a hell of a lot of fun. It had a similar sort of cute fun, almost frenetic energy that Nanoka 6/17 had about it, with a significantly better ending. Although, there were lots of times where it just couldn't escape the fact that it's premise borders on categorizing it as a harem... despite the obvious differences that the cast wasn't entirely female, and only Kozoe's female lead (and her personalities... although this wasn't explicitly stated) had an interest in Shiratori's main character.

The characters were fairly well done. Most of them I found fairly frustrating and/or boring to start out with, but the series made a good attempt to give them each a deserved amount of attention. Probably helped by the fact that the cast was small though. Very small for an anime of this type and of this length, in fact. My only real complaints include Johnny and Haibara, who we know almost nothing about by the end, except for the fact that he has the ability to produce little morsels of wisdom when the time calls for it. I mean, he lets himself be dominated by a sock puppet dog on his hand... there's gotta be something interesting about him. Momono's my other significant complaint. I've never been a huge fan of the drunken louch in anime, especially when they're as spontaneous (and spontaneously stupid) as Momono, so she had a real uphill battle to get my sympathy. And, she almost had it in that episode that focused on her. But, she quickly lost it again shortly after that... probably from her normal antics, I can't exactly remember now. Shiratori was the typical doormat nice guy you get in these sorts of anime. I wasn't expecting him to be anything else, though, so I can't really say I was disappointed with him.

Kozue's split personalities were great, though. I wasn't overly impressed when Saki first came out... brash, loud, obnoxious, spotlight stealing... but her second appearance really redeemed her, and she became one of my favourites by the end of the series. Nanako doesn't really deserve much of a comment past "-_-"... Chiyuri's cosplay maniac was as funny as hell. "CORRECT". Honestly, I didn't think I was going to enjoy her antics as much as I did when she first came out, but, her antagonism of the rest of the poor residents at Narutakisou for some odd reason really struck a chord with me. And what was with Tamami's complete submission to do Chiyuri's bidding and the disturbing "My partner" "My sweetheart" thing they had going on? Disturbing, yet cute, in a way I think only Moe-raba could have pulled off. Natsume I really liked as well, despite the fact that she barely spoke in the entire series, and 50% of everything she said was "...maybe". No hyperbole here. I never hyperbolize. So, yeah, the personalities I had no real issues with.

Tamami actually shows human emotions in the final few episodes. Hooray. Actually, on the topic of Tamami, I'm just happy to see Horie Yui doing something different from the overly cute nice girls she usually seems to do, and take on a role somewhat sinister and antagonistic (although I'd say sinister and antagonistic are characteristics another of her recent roles in Sawachika Eri had in spades, but that's possibly something open to argument... particularly among the Eri fanboys). I liked the self-reflective style of telling character backstory Kare Kano oh-so mastered that they used for Tamami. Good stuff. Speaking of good characters, the Kurosaki family were possibly the highlights of the show character-wise. They played off each other really well, and their particular story was quite heartwarming. And then there was that massive cast of side characters who... even though had virtually zero development among all of them (which is to be expected, since they're side characters after all), did their job of providing more comedic value more than competently.

Animation style was great, and in a sense really defined the mood this sort of series needed. The music was top. I usually don't expect great soundtracks from comedies, but this was one just completely blew me out of my seat. I certainly wasn't expecting anything near this good, music-wise. And the ending didn't leave me disappointed. Which is something not a lot of anime have had me saying in recent times.

Mahoraba probably didn't quite live up to the hype I was hearing about it before I went into it, but I certainly can't say I didn't enjoy this series. Heartwarming, feel-good and fun. Good stuff.

hey like the above review...

i am quite disappointed there is not a single episode to develop johnny and haibara...

i really like that character(i think johnny's quite cute given his full range of expressions and roles he can play for a hand puppet)...and i wanted to know whats behind this character...

i read somewhere that the manga do have a part to give us more background on him....can anyone who read the manga shed any light??
