in the phillipines dragon ball z is a big hit.even adults love this anime, but when i see the review in this site i was shocked you all hate it i dont know why??

I thought DBZ was meant more for adults, nudity and etc,(or was that just DB?). Anyways, mine would be DBZ, and now recently scryed. (GITS:SAC If you count that, many "casual" anime fans thought it was VERY boring)

What I don't get is, why does the title question have nothing to do with the first post? As far as the first post is concerned, that's an issue that's been discussed to death in many a flame war, and not one I'm particularly interested in. As far as the title question is concerned, I don't really have anime I "secretly" love... if I enjoy something, I don't see the need to hide it. As far as anime I enjoy that I probably shouldn't have, there's Kannaduki no Miko, Ichigo 100%, Ai Yori Aoshi, Nanaka 6/17, Kujibiki Unbalance, and probably 20+ more I can't remember off hand.

cause some people like me feels that listening to the mesmorising rhythm of a clock ticking is more entertaining than watching azumanga.

The question 'whats wrong with liking those' itself is pointless, no matter what the people say, no matter how bad its ratings are, people shouldn't be afraid of expressing what animes you like. This point has been raised more than enough, reminding me of that 'anime vs cartoon' thread. I can only hope, this doesn't generate another 192384 more posts of 'wtf, anime we secretly love? this is stupid, because yabidabida...'.

In the words of a DBZ fan I'll explain it's downfalls..

1.) It's animation, at some times it's very well definded more then half of it has horrible animation that could burn the eyes right out of socket.

2.) It's cast, most of the characters just arent interesting and the ones that are were dropped by the end of the 3 series run.

3.) Some fights. Major fights are dragged out over more then 20 episodes and that looses some peoples interest in the show alone.

4.) Filler. While almost all anime has some DB/Z/GT has more then 100 episodes worth altoghether and that doesnt get you a very good score.

5.) The fanboys. Not really a factor of the show itself but it definatly adds to it once tons of 5th grade boys say things such as "OMG DBZ is the best anime ever! way better then stupid Ghibli stuff!" and so on. First impressions are hard to forget.

Long fight scenes lasting a dozen episodes that consist mainly of the "RAR! My energy ball is bigger than your energy ball! AND I have yet to release my true power!" variety

Yu-Gi-Oh! - for some reason waking up Saturday morning, having some dunkin donuts and watching Yu-Gi-Oh! is a great way to start the day and brings me back to my childhood when I'd watch Saturday morning cartoons
One Piece (the edited one on cartoon newtork) - i just think it's fun
Lastly I'm a fan of the fanservice genre and that's something that's always hard to admit.

all the you would see a six-13 year old boy whatching....I love shounen jump XD...its fun tho because my little brother (6 yrs) adores the fact that I like it...and I have so much fun buying him mega man and pok3 montoys and just having fun whatching the shows with him...so yeah I am a seventeen year old who likes that stuff..but it gives me a way to connect with my little brother who I absolutely adore..so yeah :)

I think watching kids shows (Digimon, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, DBZ) really does help us relieve most of out childhood memories. I am currently watching Digimon on ToonDisney, and so far I'm liking it. It helps me remember the days when I would get up and watch Fox Kids religiously to no end. I also remember good ol' events that I used to enjoy with my friends and other cool thoughts I had back then. Yeah, Digimon was one of my favorite anime to watch when I was a kid and still like it now, though it ain't my favorite that much since I have been exposed to different anime now. Digimon also had one of the best dubs a saturday anime could have: keeping most of the Japanese town names, leaving some of the digimon names alone, Beelzemon with guns, the deaths of some characters, damn you couldn't get away with half of those stuff on 4Kids TV (besides Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...) or Kids WB. The only negatives of the dub was some lame jokes for the Digimon Adventure series, some dub add ons, and the Digimon Movie and that's it. Definitely exceeds Pokemon in every size, shape and form.

Needless to say, I still play my friend's Pokemon Emerald game whenever I come over to his house...

in the phillipines dragon ball z is a big hit.even adults love this anime, but when i see the review in this site i was shocked you all hate it i dont know why??

Hey, i think that the review and the grade is a critic, where you actually look for flaws. Take me for one; i love Eatman 98, and in the review it's got one of the worst grades. The review is just a really critical way of looking at an anime, so don't worry about it. Just because the grade is low and the theme may be repetitive (like boy-sets-out-to-save-the-world), doesn't mean it can't be fun and enjoable.

Back where I came from, Futari wa Pretty Cure is a major hit. Personally, I dislike it because the series kept repeating itself over and over again, but somehow, I watch it myself. I don't know why I'm still watching it -- maybe because of the cute girls in it... :bnono:

Mazinger Z. well..nothing really shameful about it. first anime i ever watched.
Gundam Wing + Seed. though i'd never admit my love for such visually pleasing gundam series over the more mentally stimulating universal century gundam series amongst the gundam fanboys (this forum is largely shoujo-centric and give off a warm safe fuzzy feeling)

Cliche-ridden though they may be, I did enjoy Hand Maid May. Probably wouldn't watch it in front of company, though.

Also a nostalgic fan of Pokemon, although it's not exactly a secret. My Surfing Pikachu is just too cute to not prominently display on my desk.

You know, you're going through all the trouble of creating a new account, begging for attention, and thinking that everyone is remembering you. However, noone cares or even does remember you, since you only had a mere 14 posts on your other account, which makes you unnoticeable through all of the hundreds or thousands of threads that have been created over time. I didn't know who you were then, and frankly, don't care who you are now.

Anyways, to get back on topic, I guess I can say that I love Naruto (not the filler though, but the first 135 eps) and Bleach. They're not very deep, but they are fun to watch when you want to turn of your brain and watch some fun action scenes.

Its good your proud and all :D. I have to say though i always thought it a bit embarrising i like Hentai. Always wondered: Am i a sick guy? Stopped with that now. Dont believe im any weirder than others but I certainly dont brag about it.

Oh and I really like Sandybell which probably many of you have never seen. its from the early 80´s and is kind of a girls anime. But i love it :D.

I more or less enjoyed the TRIGUN anime despite completely hating Vash, he was like a more idiotic version than Kenshin. I liked the second half of the series because it gets more serious and all the enemies there wanted to just make Vash's life a living hell(thats the reason why i liked Knives the best), and also because Vash only acts cool when people are either in danger or killed.
