Madvillian Madvillany
This collaboration between MF Doom (aka aka Viktor Vaughn, King Geedorah, Metalface) and and Madlib (aka Quasimoto, Yesterday's New Quintet) is hot.
Never has such chemistry developed between Doom and another beatmaker. Madvillainy is inexhaustibly brilliant, with layer-upon-layer of carefully considered yet immediate hip-hop, forward-thinking but always close to its roots. Good luck finding a better hip-hop album this year, mainstream, undie, or otherwise.

"mesmerize" by System of a Down. it kicks ass
"Demon Days"-Gorillaz, and I haven't stopped listening to it since.
They are a pretty cool band I wish I had heard of them when they first came out though, I feel a little left behind. When I finally visited their site http://www.gorillaz.com/flash.html I found out they have some kind of thing going; "Reject False Icons" which kinda disappoints me because I don't want to learn later on that they were just faking it, but if they really are going to stay with it then more power to 'em.
The fans on the forums there are a little over-obsessed with these animated characters, and the stuff they say *shudders*. But on a lighter note, on the site there are these little short cartoon things that involve them which are pretty amusing, especially the Noodle and Russel fight scene.
I recommend you give them a try, their songs can sound really different from each other no matter what genre you like. I have yet to meet someone who after listening didn't like at least 1 of their songs.

I haven't picked up any new CD's for awhile, but the last couple of albums I did buy when I had the cash to splurge on music were..
"Odessy and Oracle" by The Zombies (Digitally Remastered from the 60's original)
"Wind in the Wires" by Patrick Wolf (Hands down, one of the best albums I've heard all year.)
"When Ice Met Cream" by The Brunettes (A b-sides disc I picked up the last time they came to town. While it's not necessarily as fun as their other albums have been, it's still a nice bargain priced release, and still manages to show off the sweet natured vibe and sense of humor they bring to their live shows. The highlight on this one has to be a ballad about what it must be like to be The Incredible Hulk.)
"Guero" by Beck (Another nice release from Beck.)

'The Essential Micheal Jackson'. Regardless of what opinion you hold about him, you know that when Beat it/Thriller starts playing, you know you likeded it (that was intentional) and it has songs all the way from the Jackson 5 to now and it gives that feeling of nostalgia to hear all those songs I remember hearing when I was 7 or 8.

My spoils from MANIFEST, ranked in descending order of awesomeness:
5. His and Her Circumstances Soundtrack
This is not really a "sing-and-air-guitar-in-front-of-your-mirror-while-your-roommates-pretend-to-not-know-what-you're-doing" type album, it's more of a "gotta-do-my-laundry-and-clean-the-pool-and-I-need-some-cool-background-music-to-stop-myself-spontaneously-collapsing-into-a-state-of-boredom-and-procrastination-while-absent-mindedly-watching-the-cricket" type album.
4. Haibane Renmei Soundtrack- HANENONE
I don't care if you're an emo, a high powered business wanker, a garbage man or a four year old, etc, this is the music everyone hears when they go to their "happy place".
3. Hellsing Soundtrack Volume 1: RAID
The first half of the album is like someone poured swank and awesome into an industrial-strength blender, set it on high for about 30 minutes then marinated a CD in it, then you get to the second half and it's all "Meh" and you remember that CDs cannot be eaten.
2. Arjuna Soundtrack- Into another world.
It'll take you from the earth-rumbling chaos of tribal beats and drumming to the very stratosphere of ethereal vocals. Easily Yoko Kanno's best work and a true pleasure to listen to.
1. FLCL soundtrack- Volume 3
I wonder if anyone on Chapel Street in Melbourne heard and appreciated me and my friends' loud rendition of the Engrish in "Hybrid Rainbow" while we stumbled home at 3am in the morning completely drunk of our arses? I gotta learn me the lyrics, because from now on any night out with me will end up like this:
Beer, beer, beer, gin and tonic, dance, laugh, beer, bourbon and coke, dance, laugh, beer, kebab, Hybrid Rainbow, sleep.

The Rasmus; Hide From the Sun. I'm not sure I like it as much as their last album (In the Shadows?) but I certainly think its better than their first album. arrgh, I can never remember the names of albums. Oh really? I mainly just remember Parachutes being marketed as their debut and the others as EP's, singles and mini-albums.
AllMusic.com has this to say:
They played their first gig at a festival for unsigned bands in Manchester, and The Safety EP was issued shortly thereafter. The Brothers and Sisters EP was issued by Fierce Panda and released a year later. Both releases saw only 500 pressings. Their sweet melodies and swooning lyrics landed Coldplay a U.K. deal with Parlophone in April 1999, and the limited-edition five-track, The Blue Room EP, followed that fall. With endearing nods from the media, the dream pop foursome were hailed as the next Travis thanks to their simplistic acoustics and charming personas. Two more EPs, Shiver and Yellow, arrived in spring 2000.
Their full-length debut Parachutes, which earned the band a Mercury Music Prize nomination, was released in the U.K.
I personally don't count EPs (especially with only 500 pressings) as full albums, so I'd really consider Parachutes to be their first proper, debut release.
* Tremolo wonders why he's discussing a band he's not all that keen on anyway :D
