This looks like its going to be a nice little show. Gonzo are going to be the animation studio and I heard this is going to be publisised by ADV.
Samuel L Jackson [The Man himself!] has been confirmed as the voice actor for the lead.
Nice ^_^

That series looks pretty awesome, I'm looking forward to it.

That art looks like something off a Metal Gear Solid game.
Of course, SLJ anywhere near anime is already cool. "Imma mushroom cloud layin' mother ****er, mother ****ER!"

Haha, Jackson will be great. Who cares about what the story will be.

It looks a lot darker than I thought it would, but I guess it works. The art style has a very gritty look to it and I think it'll flow well with the story.
Samuel L. Jackson owns all. I wonder whether they'll surround him with other celebrity voices or hire no-names and let him sell the show...

Haha, AfroSamurai, that sounds like a funny title.

I this needs sigs:
"I double-dare you mother ****er!"
and
"BAD MOTHER ****ER"
Isn't Sam Jackson new to voice acting (especially anime dubbing)? I wonder if he'll be any good.
Judging from his work as Officer Frank Tenpenny in GTA: San Andreas, we'll be just fine. He has a very good "pissed off" voice and if he can nail "Afro" well, it should indeed be memorable. Samuel L. Jackson is, pardon my French, frais.
"Frais" literally means "cool" and/or "fresh".
The website says the creator is a big hip-hop fan, which makes me wonder whether there's going to be hip-hop in the background like in Samurai Champloo (which I haven't seen). Also, both anime have main characters with big hair.
You're not the only person who thought "Samurai Champloo" after visiting the site. Hell, I thought "Samurai Champloo" when I read the thread's title. Shikatanai, I suppose.
As much as I try to steel myself against all "star factor" when getting psyched up about something, I can't help but be curious as to where this will lead. SLJ in anime? Why, that does sound curious indeed...

With Jackson behind the scenes, this anime is guarenteed to be amusing.

Ara ra,
Now if they could just get the opening theme to be done by Isaac Hayes, then we've got a contender...
IH: "Aw yeah. Afro Samurai, he is one bad mutha--"
Womangs: "Shut yo' mouth!"
IH: "But I be talkin' about Afro."
Womangs: "We can dig it!"

He also did the voice of Lucius "Frozone" Best in The Incredibles.
"Honeyyyy! Where's my super suit?"
"What?"
"WHERE... IS.... MY... SUPER SUIT...?"
"I put it away..."
"WHEEERRREEEE?"
etc... he ruled. Samuel L Jackson just flat rules period. The man is a JEDI for crying out loud.
As for being new to anime dubbing, I am not entirely sure this show is going to be just produced for Japanese audiences then dubbed in english. I have a feeling it'll be made more for the english speaking audience. Just a hunch tho.

Gonzo? God no. NO. Only one Gonzo anime comes to mind that was worthwhile... Last Exile.
However, this has Jackson. It'll probably be worth it because of that alone... I hope.

Ditto.
Gonzo has the best in television animation. And Samuel L. Jackson turns everything he touches into gold(with the exception of Formula 51 of course).
It looks interesting, but the afro ninja seems like something Sinichi Watanabe might have thought of.

Episode 1
WTF? Is this Samurai Champloo on crack? The voice acting seems like an amateur production, but the animation quality makes most Japanese samurai shows look like something from the dollar menu. The art is sharp, the motions fluid and the camera moves so fast it makes the action genuinely exciting. The script, however, sucks... badly.

Frankly the comedic relief and the fight choreography is the only thing that makes this bearable to watch. Think of this as Final Fantasy: Jackson’s Children. (No not that Jackson)

Aside from the animation, it stinks out loud. But Jackson is good enough for me.
Somehow, I get the feeling I'm stating more than just my opinion.

I don't see what's wrong with the voice acting, although there seemed to be some awkward pauses and bad lip syncing which makes it seem like it was originally supposed to be in Japanese or there's some carryover of your standard horribly lip syncing you get from most anime.
Story-wise I wasn't expecting much and didn't get that much so I'm fine with that. It's your basic revenge story with some window dressing, I sure wasn't hoping for some groundbreaking, revolutionary, original story.
Animation/Art. I expect nothing less from Gonzo. It was fantastic.

I found the first episode alright, i wasn't expect much out of this anime. Although i still want to see what happens in the next episode.

I felt like this anime was going to fall flat on it's face. Just because it has Samuel L. Jackson is the voice actor for the main character does not make the whole show immediately good. I was getting annoyed by all the hype that I heard about it, so I'm glad to hear that the show isn't that godly. I guess I would have to see it first, but I'm not really expecting a whole lot out of it.

I'm not disappointed in this at all. The next episode will confirm whether this is truly a great. For now it is just plain fun :D
Right now the style and blend of east-west, future-past feels fresh and goes where Samurai Champloo and Samurai7 didn't quite touch on.
The lip sync was noticeable but in a way that reminded me of the deleted Kill Bill scene.
I look forward to seeing how the rest of this unfolds.

I have to admit that I missed the first episode. I was looking forward to it too. I have been curious to see if it was a real show or just a spoof. I have no doubt I'll be able to catch a rerun. Rather please to hear it isn't all bad.

Nothing wrong with the voice acting. Just some pretty awful lip synching. If I hadn't heard anything else about the series, I would have thought it was a dub.
Animation is top-notch, but what did you expect? I read somewhere they had a really obscene budget for this show.

Nothing personal, it's just...
BORING.
The visuals were highly impressive, although that's to be expected of a $1M/episode show. Unfortunately the plot seemed about as generic as it gets and the voice acting felt stiff and forced.
"Oishii, refreshing"? Gimme a break, Joey Gladstone - cut IT out.

Yeah I mean it's a pretty cool looking show, but it's a typical samurai show, but that doesn't it mean Sam Jackson doesn't kick some serious ass.
