I wouldnt mind spitting on a couple of series that I saw such as X... haha... I mentioned the movie for the other thread. I dunno.. the idea was really good, however, too many tangents occurred throughout the series.. it started off cool and then it just dragged on so badly. Then the obvious can be stated such as Salior Moon... Dragon Ball GT... Pokemon.. That genre. Also in addition FLCL (Oh I said it.. I really hated that series.. and i'm not some uneducated layperson.. even with the psych degree I thought it was stupid) <--- I hope I dont get crucified for that.

No, Saikano was pretty moving initially. But it just degenerated into this suffocatingly angsty, soulless mess. The show defines the word manipulative. And I actually liked Gonzo before seeing it.

Luckily for me I have not seen an anime that deserves to be banned from existence. I am not saying that they aren't out there I have just been lucky enough not to experience any myself. I guess I am a pretty good judge to know that the anime that I do watch I will at least tolerate.

It is a movie that depicts a tale from a book. (Based off a real story, mind you.) Asking why it was made is like asking why Schindler's List was made.

I must agree with you for rewatchability... It is a hard one to enjoy experiencing again and again.

Kiddy Grade. I remember when it first came out it looked so good and pretty. Then when it came out...wow. Such a disappointment. The plot was about as thick as watery soup and the only thing that the series had going for it was the pretty artwork. Yech. Twenty-plus episodes of total muck.

If the main characters were real humans they'd be the type of people who would drink far too much at a party, cry and talk about how much their life sucks. Then everyone gets worried and asks you to hide the alcohol esky while that hot chic you were cracking on to plays psycologist as they hack their guts up in the toilet.

Good God, there is such a sickening level of angst. The least you can do is space out the episodes so it doesn't piss you off to no end by reminding you of all those high school parties that were ruined.

I can imagine a lot of the AA student body disagreeing with you about Boogiepop Phantom. (Looking back, I'm the first to disagree.) But then again it is all about opinion.

PS: I can understand your disposition about the series as I was the same in the first two episodes, but it makes more sense later in the series.

I like Zatch Bell so far, I haven't found a reason other than the irritating blonde to not like the show, Zatch is pretty funny, and the concept isn't all that bad, I hope it improves.

On the other hand, I greatly dislike Rave Master and before I saw yesterday's episode would have gladly sent it to the netherworld, but yesterday's episode almost made it feel like a "real" anime, aside from the horrible voice-acting by the villain, way over-the-top, did anybody else see this episode?

Well, I think I'm gonna need two lists for this thread. The first is the absolute worst animes I've ever seen and the other are my most dissapointing animes, since the dissapointing animes pissed me off a lot more than the ones that were just plain bad.

Worst animes I've seen:

1.) Sword For Truth (rode on the coattails of Ninja Scroll's success. Action is the worst I've ever seen, and the story leaves you feeling violated.)
2.) Ninja Ressurection (also rode on NS' coattails, in fact only reason I saw it was from rumor mongering that led fans to believe it was the long awaited sequel to NS. I still wonder if ADV started those rumors...)
3.) X: The Movie (just a bad movie that leaves you feeling dirty.)
4.) Reign the Conquerer (don't ask me how I sat through all 13 episodes. Its a very mediocre anime that gets pushed down into this catergory by its displeasing aesthetics and often convoluted story.)

Most dissapointing/"left with head shaking" animes: (these animes do not quite deserve eternal damnation, but should get punished just the same).

1.) FLCL (to avoid a rant, I'll just agree with TenchiMasaki's take on page 1)
2.) Metropolis (ending tanks what would have been merely a mediocre anime)
3.) Ah my Goddess (original 5 ep. OAV) (probably the least inspired, most boring shonen romantic comedy I've seen)
4.) Excel Saga (a few funny moments (the dating sim episode or Excel going to America!) but mostly a "huh?" show. Too experimental and random.)
5.) Please Teacher (wasn't good until episode 13, although ep. 13 was classic. I'll give it that.)
6.) Noir (nice action and animation, highly stylish, but slow and little plot. 2nd half gets a lot better but overall a 70% anime tops)
7.) Rahzephon (still watching this one, and I intend to finish. First half has been slow, frustrating and hard to enjoy).
8.) Ghost in the Shell. (See Kains review here. I agree 100%.)
9.) Akira. (my first anime ever. Slow paced and long movie, and it left me feeling dirty. Scared me away from anime until I saw Ninja Scroll 3 years later.)

There are probably more but thats all I remember for the moment. Ironically, the first two anime I ever purchased were Sword for Truth and X: the movie. I threw those in the trash a few years ago, it was actually a big relief even though each one of 'em set me back 20 bucks. I nearly bought Ninja Ressurection when it was released as well.

I understand how people may not like or be disappointed with RahXephon, because everybody have different tastes, but I can't fathom how it should be classed in the same category with Tekken, MD Geist and Ninja Resurrection. Lol. The anime was fun, but it was not attractive to watch the girls. While I've never been the type who enjoys animated fanservice, Elfen Lied permanantly killed ANY enjoyment I had for animated girls. (Note: Elfen Lied contains more nudity that Green Green, but it is very disturbing. Despite the fact that the girls were "attractive," blood, guts and gore along with fanservice does not go well with the whole "attraction" factor...)

Yumeria: Your typical harem anime that tries to incorporate Power Rangers style themes to an already weak anime. The female characters thus are very shallow, very busty, and wear some kinky outfits. The male is your typical loser lead character. The comedy does not work and frankly the plot is corny. (Boy meets a girl who can only say one word...)

Knights of Ramunes: See Eek's review.

Melody of Oblivion: The show had potential, but it was ultimately too corny. The story relies on your "typical villain of the week" premise, and the characters are frankly uninteresting to watch. The events on screen is serious, but is ultimately hard to care about since the anime is so unrealistic. I shall commend you for watching the entire series and call you an idiot at the same time.

Your right, I have never played Sega Saturn, I was a Playstation person. However, just being fans of the videogame shouldn't stop people from viewing the movie objectively. The show doesn't develop the characters at all and they don't outline any plot once so ever. All that happens is the characters appear before you and fight. This movie is a perfect example of what you shouldn't do when writing a storyline.

Like the Samurai Showdown anime, it was made out of the video game who was created a bit nice but sadly the anime suck. I mean where is the justification that the video game was a good title if the anime story sucked.

It is a publicity attempt by its distirbutors to market their product or to increase their franchise's life span. More like DBZ and DBGT, Street Figther and some other video games that became an anime or cartoon and vice versa.

I won't argue with you that it's bad, because it is. But it's just like a lot of movies spawned from popular games/series/whatever. It's just like a filler episode in an anime. A lot of people hate te monster-of-the-day episodes in Sailor Moon that does nothing to the plot whatsoever. But the hardcore fans still love them. Are those fans suffering from judgement impairment? Well, in a way it does really, but rest assured there will be many people who will enjoy this and think you can't understand them.

The Sakura Wars games are extremely popular in Japan and rest of Asia. It is not just on Sega Saturn now, but also PS and PC I believe. It is the second most popular RPG in Japan, behind FF. And the fans of the games will find a lot of enjoyment out of any sort of Sakura Wars.

I could not agree more. The spin-offs, and Pokemon, that show was so frickin' sweet (not cool, but as in sugary) sugary it was always "I'll be your friend forever! My pokemon is weak because it is sad." Yes it is meant for kids, I would know I watched it when it first came here and liked it (I was young and stupid, *slaps self*) but god the same thing over and over and over. The games were ok until the third series (the current one) then I lost all interest.

Why do people keep talking about something called Ninja Scroll: Resurection? There is no such anime.

There is the orignal Ninja Scroll movie, which as much as it was bad, has a certain appeal. There is the Ninja Scroll television series, which I've never seen and thus have no opinion. There is also a Ninja Scroll 2 which is in production but not yet available.

Are you perchance talking about the movie Ninja Resurection? Where there are like jetplane ninjas and stuff?

Exactly I agree with it all. All too overplayed or just plain dumb. More are Ninja Scroll: Resurection (cant spell), Cromatarie High School (too dumb for my tastes, FLCL was a one of a kind randomness), and Tokyo Mew Mew (the anime only, manga version RULES).

Gravion must be one of the lamest anime out there. Godannar and Gravion should really team up to be entitled "Worst Mecha-Pair in History".

There's a few that come to mind....probably the most prominent being Ghost Talker's Daydream. Now THAT is some baaaaaad anime. Being an OVA that's running time spans 4 episodes, it manages to use not a second of those 4 episodes for any plot progression or, well, anything good at all. Chracters are downright unlikeable, and it's idea of "humor" is nothing but the most blantantly crude sexual references to the main character's job at bondage club, and her lack of pubic hair (seriously, I'm not kidding). The show features animation that is mediocre, especially for an OVA, as well as a schizophrenic attitude which jumps back and forth between dark and morbid, to moronic humor constantly. On top of all this, the hsow features no ending....because, really, how could a show that made no attept at progressing any plot or character development really end, anyhow? The bottom line is that this show is just plain worthless, and a total waste of time. There is so much wrong with this show that it hardly even seems worth my time to try listing all it's flaws. Just know that this anime is horrible An anime NOBODY should bother with. If you see it, just scream and run.

Another has to be Tenjou Tenge, which I also believe to be one of the most incredibly bad anime out there. The story is told in only the most incoherent and poorly-paced way possible, in the middle jumping to a multi-episode flashback that wastes nearly a third of the series, and makes very little progress anyhow (they probably could've summed up this flashback in 1-2 episodes). On top of that, the ending is so rushed that it actually seems even the characters in the show just realized in the last 15-minutes of the final episode that it had to conclue, as they all seem to rush frantically to make it to some sort of anti-climactic battle. (Apparently, the OVA offers more afterwards, but this just backs up my point that the show was so horribly paced that it couldn't use it's time effectively enough to tell any kind of conclusion in it's original 24-episodes). What plot there is is over-dramatized to the point of ridiculous and the show takes itself far too seriously, considering that it comes down to nothing more than a brainless fighting-and-fan-service show, anyways. And when it tries to be dramatic, it's untterly laughable. Even as a fighting anime, the show fails miserably, as the animation quality drops after the first few episodes, and the fight scenes become composed of nearly nothing but freeze frames of stupid moves, with what animation it has being used on bouncing breasts or the removal or the females clothes. What's more it's character, especially it's main cast, are idiots to a remarkable degree, with it's main character, Aya, having about the brain-capacity of a dirt pile. This show is just grade-F trash. Not quite Ghost Talker's Daydream-calibur crap, but still of remarkably poor quality in all aspects.

Not really for me. It was exactly how the person who graded on here portrayed: "You'll either love it or hate it". For me, I could not stand the dumbfoundedness I felt afterwords. That type of comedy just didn't appeal to me. Didn't mean to offend you.

But while I'm here posting, I might as well add GallForce. My GOD!!It was like 6 girls and an android girl who all die out through the movie! NO PLOT WHATSOEVER!!!!!!!! :rant: I think I lost most of my intelligence just by giving the movie the time of day!

But yeah. Mai HiME was boring and dumb. The characters did nothing for me. I tried to stick through the entire series but couldn't. So enough people bitched at me about how great the ending was and how I should totally see it, that I just skipped to the end, watched it, liked it, and I choose to exile the series to the netherworld for ****ing up what might have been a good anime with the entire first 3/4ths. That and where the **** did that blue sword come from? His ass? That was batshit.

Honey & Clover is boring. That's about all I can say about Honey & Clover. It was boring, I couldn't force myself to watch past episode 7. I mean, I really wanted to see the whole show, so I could legitimately hate it, but I just can't do it. It's so boring and uninteresting that I just can't do it. That and Hagu and the way everyone acts around Hagu irritates me. Same goes for Rika, and the Yamada character.

It's boring. Nothing happens. The characters are mainly awful. Hagu is a crime against humanity. The much-lauded insert songs all sound exactly the same. The OP is horrible.

All I can really see going for is it's sporadically amusing and looks nice. And that's not good enough.

If DH and Eri want to include it, they can. I'm sure a few solitary Ninja Resurrection fans (there must be some, surely) are pissed at you for mentioning it like, five-hundred times in this thread. >_>

I'll tell you why. The people who wanted to enchant children wanted to do so in order to push their trading cards, toys, and any other marketable junk that's tied to the show.

Another anime is Rurouni Kenshin: Seisohen. It's just a quick cash in on the RK franchise that failed miserably.

they all suck like jenna jameson (sucks, jenna herself doesnt really suck and is actually quite cool and super sexy...) no plot, first one's animation was worth exactly shit and piss, characters which i learned to hate very easily and lots of other stuff that made me throw the dvd's out the window!!!

but thats what i think... play twister and have lots of sex and weed afterwards....
