Man i love Rush, There an awsome band! They have alot of good songs like Fly by Night, Tom Sayor, Spirit of the Radio, etc. I saw them in concert last summer and they were amazing! I was wondering if anyone likes Rush?

Rush is pretty good. Their songs are catchy and Getty Lee's voice is most definetly unique. I hear their songs on the radio a lot (I listen to classic rock), especially due to Canadian content laws. Fly by Night would probably be my favourite of their songs. My brother is really into Rush. He has their greatest hits CD and plays it A LOT.

Rush is great! Lots of talent, and were one of the first progressive bands.

Tried and true, they're one of those rare bands you can instantly recognize just by the first few bars of a new song. They've carved their own niche and have been untouchable since 1968! Ever see a piece of sheet music for their songs?? Holy schlamoly!

And they still don't get the recognition they deserve. [grumble-grumble]

Best songs, IMHO, "Neurotica", "Subdivisions", and "Tom Sawyer".

I'm also partial to Subdivisions, Tom Sawyer, Limelight and Distant Early Warning.

Such great songs, well as to the question I like Rush, but I get insulted alot for liking them though.

I agree they're a great band. My father went to highschool with the bass player.

I know what you mean. I did a drum solo at a concert I played a while ago and some kid that came to the show with my friend said to me, "Hey man, this isn't a rush concert." I thought that was pretty funny. Rush is just too sophisticated for some.

I'm a fan. I used to listen to them a lot in high school and college, all the classic stuff.

I saw them in Oklahoma City on the Power Windows tour. They sounded great, but it was a little disappointing because they basically played the album and NOTHING prior to it*...I really haven't heard any of their stuff after that.

It was kinda disappointing to see Lifeson in the news over that Florida incident, but hey, we've all had bad days :bik:

* (and also because another of my then fav bands, Blue Oyster Cult opened and their sound set-up SUCKED, oh well)

I think Rush was the last band I saw in a big arena. They were also the most technically sound--not sloppy like a lot of bands tend to be live.

Aside from many of the songs already mentioned, I have a special affection for "Bastille Day" and "A Farewell to Kings."

and don't forget 'Rivendell', sich a pretty little piece.

I dig Rush. But I think to some degree they are like Pink Floyd, in that each album is a sort of connective work. I never get into greatest hits by either band, and when I try to make compilations, I end up doing strings of songs in thier album sequence.
IF you like Rush, try Marillion. Script for a Jester's Tear, Fugazi, Misplaced Childhood, and Clutching at Straws (before the original singer, Fish, left the band) are phenomenal albums.

Alas I never did see Rush live, though I hear it is an amazing event.

Marillion is an interesting phenomena:

I liked the lyrics better with Fish, I like the lead vocals better with Hogart.

I've got a casette of that somewhere. A little too melodramatic for me, but I liked the "Don't give me your problems!"

I love Rush. Just recently got into them, actually. Les Claypool always cites them as a huge influence, but I never really knew what he was blabbering about. So randomly I was watching futurama, and it's one of the "what if machine" episodes, and fry says something like, "I'll need my all Rush mix tape and a bottle of Shasta." Tom Sawyer ensues. I put two and two together and went out and bought an album. Yeah, they rock.

Whoa, I love me some Rush. Geddy Lee..<3
Limelight and Subdivisions are great songs, and then there's Distant Early Warning. Yum. Rush is something else honestly. I mean, you want something different, go for it.

[Sorry, huge Rush fan. If you're into Rush though, Try Coheed and Cambria.]
