Well, i dont know if this thread was given out before but if not I'd like to start it...basically, the question is: What was the "VERY FIRST" anime you've ever watched in your life?? Is that show what made you a fan of anime if not then which?? Did you even know if that show was anime back then??
My answers:
The very first anime i've ever watched was the very very old transformers when I was 4 years old...i didn't even know it was anime back then truthfully...i just thought it was another cartoon show that looked like lots of fun. Since I didn't know it was anime back then, that show isn't what made me a fan. The show that made me a fan was SailorMoon back when it was on the WB 11 here in NY...

Hmmmmm... I'm not exactly sure. But, the show that made me a fan of anime was Mobile Suit Gundam, 8 years ago.

The Very First anime I believe I ever saw was Samurai Pizza Cats. Yes, Samurai Pizza Cats, if any of you even know what that was. I feel old...but I am just a kid so I bet alot of the really old fan's remember it well. Then came SailorMoon, the first one to air on Toonami was cool, and a great intro into anime for any fan, although it seemed to be more directed at girls. Then came Tenchi Muyo, and Gundam Wing....I think I am going to go remenince...thanks for digging up old memories

It could be anyone of these three (was so long ago i'm not exactly sure which I saw first)
transformers, sailor moon, and thunder cats (if that an anime)

I don't believe Thunder Cats was an anime...I think it was ment to resemble one...Like now aday's Teen Titans

Actually...Thundercats is an anime...A very old school anime from the time of Speed Racer. I've seen a few subtitled versions of Thundercats because a few certain eps weren't released in the US ^_^x GO ELIZABETH CENTER CHINATOWN FOR SELLING SUBBED ANIME EARLY!!!! MUAHAHAHA

O.o Wow, I loved Thunder Cats...but shhh...thats a secret. I read in Anime Insider, that alot of the anime's shown on Toonami were seriously edited, also those of WB like Card Capture Sakura was cut down in its romance areas.

yeah they were sadly...anime shows that are put on TV are very much so editited...Digimon in Japan is actually rated 15+....there's lots of stuff they dont show such as the cursing and semi-blood...Sailor Moon also...they Uranus and Neptune went from lovers to cousins...and as for Card Captor Sakura...many episodes weren't shown in the US....a great deal many.....those meanies....-_-...anyways...lmao...back to the topic ^_^x

The first anime I watched I think was the same as isolatedotaku ,Super Samurai Pizza Cats. I was like 5 years old and didn't even know it was Japanese. Then I watched pokemon and then I saw Tenchi Muyo! on Toonami and ever since then I've been a huge anime fan.

Thundercats was chiefly animated by Japanese artists, but it is no more anime then King of the Hill. Sorry kids.
You can actually make a stronger arguement about Transformers, except that the first few seasons were chiefly made with the idea that it was going to be a primarily American audience show. What ended up happening was a lot different, of course, especially nowadays.
But, of course, saying shit like that will only start ye merry olde "what makes an anime an anime" debates, which I personally dont give a flying fist **** to go into again. So just take my word for it and let's leave it at that.

I used to look forward to watching Speed Racer after school in the second grade.
After that there was a dry spell until they stared showing StarBlazers (aka Space Cruiser Yamato) and Battle of the Planets in like '79/'80 or so.
I never liked Battle of the Planets very much (the parody in Nurse Witch Komugi really cracked me up, though), but cable was like nine channels back then, so you took what you could get....

it would have been one of Astroboy, Prince Planet, Gigantor, or Kimba, way back in 1964/5 of course i didn't know they where anime then, the first show where i was aware of it Japanese Origins would have been Star Blazers in 1983.

Hmmmm im not so sure, but I really think the very first anime I watched was Demon City Shiguru when my bro recorded it on the sci-fi channel when aired 5 different animes. It's such a blur.
Either that or DBZ when I heard things about it and saw it one early morning when it aired on Sunday mornings in the WB.

I have no idea - I presume it was, but I watched it on video. Not all 50 episodes obviously, but a good amount. And it kicked serious arse, even the Token Anime Mascot (a flying squirrel of all things) was cool. I'd love to see it again some time.

I think it was either Soccer Hunters or Akira when I was 5 (or was I six, it could've been at the beginning of my sixth year...).

Also, Akira scared the sh*t out of me

That would have to be Cowboy Bebop. I kind of had to see it because my boyfriend made me. As if that weren't bad enough, we saw it in 'marathon mode'. That's what I call it when we watch an entire anime series in one sitting, which we do often. I think that might be why I don't really like Cowboy Bebop. The first anime I saw that I actually liked was Vampire Hunter D. I think that's because I have a thing for vampire animes.

Mazinger Z (Tranzor Z) without a shade of doubt. The first memories that I still recall contain one of a cousin and me desperately trying to adjust the antenna of the TV because that day's episode was about to air, and we didn't get anything but fog instead of our colorful mecha and boob-missile goodness on Channel 3.

I came a smarter person, and I guess because of the way I was introduced to the idea, I have held no prejudice against homosexuals to this day... just goes to show how vulnerable your perspective of life is at just 10 years old... an Anime literally changed my life, made me a better person..... and I got to see naked women on Bubblegum Crisis and Key The Metal Idol, so it all balanced out.... sorta...

The first anime I ever saw was either Macross or Robotech, and the only thing I remember about the first time I saw it was that they had point source shields. I spent years trying to track this series down once I got interested in anime and I am still not sure which one I saw (probably Robotech since it was on TV).
The series that got me hooked was NGE, although I had actually bought my first series, Record of the Lodoss Wars, a year earlier, and both are still high on my favorites list.

I think Voltron or Transformers. I didn't get hooked on anime for a long time afterwards though, when a friend introduced me to Rurouni Kenshin. I still consider the original Kenshin OVA's to be some of the best, if not the best anime I have seen yet.
But I am still pretty new to anime, and have been watching more of the mainstream stuff I think, and sometimes have no clue about some other series that are mentioned. Boogiepop whazzit? I'm sure I'll ask for some recommendations later. :hapbounce

Speed Racer when I was about 6 in the very early '80's. I didn't know what anime was back then, but I did recognize it as different, and I wanted to watch more like it.
In college I watched some, but nothing so memorable that I recall any titles.
The first anime I sought out as anime was Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen. It is still among my favorite.

I was 4 years old and watching The Midnight Run. And Sailor Moon came on. Back then I had no idea what anime was or even what the word cartoon meant.

Let's see....chronologically the first anime I ever saw was G-Force/Battle of the Planets back in the '70s, but I never knew it was anime until the late 1990's. but then there was "Warriors of the Wind" on HBO in the early '80's -that was my introduction to anime as a serious art form (I kept wondering why the aft shots of Nausicaa flying in the beginning kept showing flowing skirts with nothing underneath, and why she didn't freeze to death in the process), because the material was treated so seriously as compared to say, Popeye or Bugs Bunny. (or even Turbo-Teen). I remember thinking "this is a cartoon?" and being shocked at how violent it was (for the 1980's and a sheltered West Virginia boy) -then again, I think back then HBO had given it an "R" rating.
Now, my first conscious exploration of anime was during the heady days of college with Project A-Ko, Gall-Force, original Appleseed, and whatever other obscure stuff was stocked at Blockbuster and Hollywood Video in those days. And the rest, as they say, is history.
:greensplo
edit: oh yeah, how could I forget Transformers (and GI Joe), and the simply absfab Saber Rider and the Star Sherriffs. And of course Mighty Orbots! ah the joys of after-school cartoons in the golden 80's! And I must never forget the other foreign delights: Danger Mouse, Count Ducula, Mysterious Cities of Gold (Spanish), and Sparatcus and the Sun Beneath the Sea (French, I think) Thank you classic Nikelodeon!

There was an anime on Robin Hood? Now there's a surprise.
There have been anime versions of many popular stories and books, including:
Peter Pan
huckleberry Finn
Tom Sawyer
Little Women
Perrine
Hans Christian Andersen fairytales
Grimm Brothers fairytales
The Bible
Don Quixote
Swiss Family Robinson
Treasure Island
Anne of Green Gables
Marco (a side story in Cuore)
Cuore (a.k.a. School of Love: Heart's Story)
Daddy Long legs
Lassie
Pollyanna
Heidi
Little Lord Fauntleroy
Just to name some.
As for me, Mako, Gatchaman, Triton of the Sea and Princess Knight (there is a channel in Mexico that airs animation from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily and has done so since the late 60's/early 70's, and those 4 were among other giants like Ultraman and the Live version of Comet-san). The first ones to really catch my attention though would be Mahou Shoujo Sally, Ie Naki Ko (Remi), Candy Candy and Heidi which started airing about 2 years afterwards.

I still find it to be one of the most intriguing plots in Anime. Just like with Ah My Goddess! this one deserves a full TV series.

Maybe mine was Robotech. I think they showed it here in 1986 or 1987 (they had to port it here first) when I was 5 or 6 years old. I liked the concept for the Hovertanks at that time. I even got some bamboo rods and pretended I was a 'tank with its weapon systems. Nowadays, I think the cyclones are cooler.

Did you watch Daimos? Its story is very similar to Voltes V in many ways: aliens invading, aliens look human but have distinguishing feature, bad guys try using robot with invincible armor, bad guys try to use a method to keep the good guys from transforming into robot state, the bad guys are betrayed by their superiors and they try to make up for their misdeeds in the end, etc.
If you did watch it, which do you think is better?

The very first anime that I had ever seen must have been Akira. I remember being amazed of the art work done in the movie. However, the first show that got me into taking a different perspective in watching cartoons was actually DBZ. I was obsessed with that show back in the day when it was on Toonamie at midnight on the cartoon network. However, I must say the one show that got me interested in Japanese anime as a whole was Tenchi Muyo. It was unlike any other cartoon that I had ever seen. There was comedy, romance, drama, and just the overall human condition thrown into a cartoon. These types of shows then evolved into my understanding of anime. I became hooked.

Dunno if it counts as anime, but the style is similar. Thundercats! HO!
The first REAL anime I saw was My Neighbor Totoro when it was first released on VHS in the US. Then, many years later, my friend and I watched all of DBZ together for the first time, but the first anime I saw when I was mature enough to understand most anime was Evangelion. It was the first anime I ever bought. I first noticed it when I was looking for a music video for "Knocking on Heaven's Door" by Guns N' Roses and accidentally downloaded an AMV. It started me on my quest and I now own 434 anime DVDs.

Transformers was not an anime..............I thought Transformers Armada was anime but it turns out to be unintereseting, repetative, boring. Just like with the other western cartoons I have seen. Transformers the Movie was a little bit okay.
Speaking of which, why is that there is a major difference between western animations with anime?(including all disney animation movies produced)
....... For ya'll fellas out there which is better?
And when they do copy anime like art or genre, it turns out awful, ichy, and unimpressionable.
though some are a bit okay I guess... the only advantage they have over anime is CGI

Then came Tenchi Muyo, and Gundam Wing....I think I am going to go remenince...thanks for digging up old memories
ohyeah!!! i remember those shows!!!
good times back then
wow, i haven't thought about this in a long time. lets see... Transformers, (i am not that old so it might be one of the newer ones) Salior Moon, Digimon, Escaflowna, one of them. Escaflowna was what did it for me. it had me hooked. i just had to see more and more until it was cancled.
if you haven't noticed, these shows were all showed on fox saterday morning, i was a "fox-kid" growing up. the anime around me was limited but everyone of them i did not know was anime except for Escaflowna.

Akira (http://www.animeacademy.com/finalrevdisplay.php?id=16) was my very first, and I loved it, even with the original English dub. However, it never got me to seek out and find new anime. Several years passed and I caught a second movie: Princess Monoke (http://www.animeacademy.com/finalrevdisplay.php?id=407). Loved it enough to go buy the DVD, but I still wasn't really conscious of anime as a medium to be considered seperate from American animation. I didn't just grow up on goofy Saturday morning cartoons, but stuff like The Hobbit (http://imdb.com/title/tt0077687/) and The Secret of NIHM (http://imdb.com/title/tt0084649/), so seeing Japan produce animation like that didn't seem like a big deal.
Obviously, I did eventually wake up and smell the anime, quite on accident. I had just installed Winamp 5 and was checking out the streaming radio and streaming tv for the first time. Well, one of the tv channels was streaming an anime series, so I tuned in to check it out. Several hours later I stopped only because I had to grab some sleep before work. That series was the much traduced Love Hina (http://www.animeacademy.com/finalrevdisplay.php?id=293), and the rest, as they say, is history.

My very first Anime was Speed Racer. My story is like Animerules15421, in the way of how we became addicted to it. Hey how ironic he has the same numbers as I do.

The word anime is short for animation. Animation is moving pictures. Thus an anime is anything watched through moving pictures. We can get deeper with this by introducing genre, a way to classify similar things with in a group. To do this we take a group, anime, and group them by similar things.
We have shows that are funny, and their main purpose is to make the view to laugh. The title that it should be giving would show that it’s funny. Comedy perhaps? That is a perfect title for it, but that can be sub categorized, and the sub categories can then be made into a major category. We’ll start to group it by other things. A major issue is age grouping. For this purpose will look at shows that are intended for children, but appeal to anyone. We then remove everything above PG. We also want our sub-genre to only hold specific shows, and will do this by saying only shows that are stand alone can enter. Now we have a Family Oriented, Stand-Alone, Funny genre. What shows qualify? Any shows that is below PG and is funny. Pok'eMon? A show like that will not fit because you need to know about the series in order to understand it. Flintstones? A basic understanding is needed but anyone can start anywhere in the series and like it. Loony Tunes? Perfect for this seeing as it’s purely stand alone, and is fun for the whole family. As shown, any show that can be enjoyed by the whole family, meaning its not truly limited interest, is funny, and does not require back-story or any form of understanding is allowed in. We do not need to name this since it already exists, it’s the cartoon genre. This sub-genre has matured enough to be a major genre, how ever it’s an overly used term used to describe animated shows.
Genre can have many filters or just one filter. The Disney Genre has only one filter, and that is, it must be an animated show made by Disney. Their are major Genre that are fully matured, such as cartoons; their is basic descriptive genre that just tells of major aspects of a show, such as action or drama; their are minor sub-genre that exist and are commonly used but not fully matures seeing as the term could die quickly, such as Disney or Thinking Anime; and their is the most basic of genre the fan made genre, this is genre by reference which refers an anime by being like other animes, or declared apart of a persons interest.
The point is anime is a beyond basic term that is on a two-layered system. Things are either animated or live-action. With in that it’s then sub-categorized. My first anime would be unknown since all my life I have been watching animated shows on cartoon network and Disney channel. After I first seen Toonami, and started enjoying shows such as Tenchi and Outlaw Star, I then started looking for more things similar. Then seeing X on upper channel I started looking through ever channel for anything I could see. I always liked animated shows over live action; it’s just a matter of what genre I was introduced to and what was available with in my limits at given times. If none of that makes sense I can further explain it based on specific questions asked, and feel free to state opposing view points on this matter.
Earlier shows I seen: Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Original Transformers, Thunder Cats, original Heman (the show with skeletor and the huge guy with the great sword)
Later shows I seen: Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, YuYu Hakushow, Inuyasha
Transitional Shows: X the movie, Akira, Perfect Blue, SE Lain
Thank you Mr. explanation. and I don't really consider Sonic, He-man, or Thundercats really anime.

What you’re saying is it’s not Japanese Anime. JAP Anime is a very common category in anime. I was trying to explain that anime is anything animated, and showing how to better categorize it. Saying anime could mean any number of things. You ask what a persons first anime was, yet did not specify what type. I listed the first animated things I seen, latter things I seen, and shows that started to get me further into anime, mostly Japanese anime and "thinking anime," though allot of the latter things I seen have changed who I am, hard to explain.

No, it isn't. "Anime" is the name given to Japanese animation, and is a French word if I recall. That's just the way it is and whether it's right or wrong or not doesn't come into the equation. That's why there's no reviews of He Man on this site, because it isn't Japanese.
JAP Anime is a very common category in anime.
JAP? What? Nonsense.
I was trying to explain that anime is anything animated, and showing how to better categorize it.
That's what you personally may think, but it's not how the most of Western anime fandom works. It's far easier to refer to anime as anime rather than every cartoon ever made as anime - you may not like it, but that's the way it is.
whatever:rolleyes2
Or that.

It can be noted that Anime stems from the word Animation. however when you consider it as a word, it does not actually mean 'Animation', Animation is mearly the word it has basis from/is derived from. American or western animation is usually called Cartoons or Toons, Toons being derived from that, however i think toons also includes flash animations, still frame toons such as comics or online comics where Cartoons is strictly animation, and more over Western animation usually defines as a short (usually 20 - 30 minuet show)
Anime can also be expressed as the shortform of Japanimation, so strictly speaking Anime is just that, Japanese Animation, not encompassing all animation
(lets not even go into 3D animation....)
Also throw in Voltron (both of them) for my earliest 'Anime' Shows
EDIT: further note. Toons can also encompass Claymation (such as the EVIL gumby) and stop motion animation, as Toon Characters whereas Cartoons usually do not include this and 'Anime' definatly dosn't
The show that made me a fan was SailorMoon back when it was on the WB 11 here in NY...
i think the anime that got me hooked was gun parde march and robotech

I have no idea where any of you got that messed up view point. The word anime is French? :D Okay, I'd like to see you prove that.
* Tremolo prooves that
Some theorize the word comes from the French animé ("animated") or "les dessins animés" (animated drawings) and pronounce it as "ah nee MAY", though the Japanese themselves deny this theory, and the fact that it is written in Japanese syllables as アニメ (anime) rather than アニメイ (animei) further lowers its credibility.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime
That wasn't so hard, was it? Obviously it's not the only origin of the word, and it's not the most valid, but I've heard it mentioned a few times before.
As far as what I said. Look up Disney Anime on goggle, and all you'll find is Disney animation, words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words
Do you know what happened when I looked up "Disney Anime" on Google? Results after results of porn websites. "Anime Disney"? Pages about Disney buying Miyazaki and Ghibli movies, and more porn. So don't try and lie to gain credibility on your already flimsy argument.
I have no idea what listing Macross 2 and Tenchi or whatever is trying to say. Answers.com is hardly the pinnacle of Internets Knowledge - them not mentioning Gundam doesn't surprise me at all.
It's not an important enough of an issue to debate.
It clearly is if you come in and post some enormous near-essay post of complete rubbish.
What the word was, and is are two differnt things. I can refer to my dog, who happens to be a girl dog, with out being yelled at now adays. Same goes for this word.

i think Tremolo has some excellent points that shouldn't be refuted outright. as for anime being used for the word Animation, wouldn't it then be shortened to Anima? just cause the word is similar dosn't mean it's the same word, we have too many words like that in the english language that you should never take word association like that for granted.
Anime is indeed a slang word that has now become the actual word we use for this style of animation. in the same way that some people call vaccum cleaners - Hoovers (Hoover being orignally a brand of vaccum cleaners that became so popular people just called them hoovers)
other words have also started out as slang and turned into actual words (if they arn't offensive) it's just the evolution of lanugage.

I didn't think anyone would be foolish enough to look anything up on google with the filter turned off. I turn all filters up to full because of the simple truth of the internet. "The internet is for p**n." Line from a funny movie. :cute
Avenue Q is a stage musical. Or is a movie anything that moves? That seems to be how your logic works.
Fact: when a word moves from one language to another, sometime the meaning changes. If you look up kamikaze in the dictionary, you won't find reference to "divine wind" except maybe under the etymology. Hell, you even find the changing of meaning within English, British vs. American. Refer to a lorry on one side of the Atlantic, and people will look at you like you're nuts. If a British man says he's wearing a jumper, it doesn't mean he's cross-dressing,
Yes, in Japan anime means everything animated. But it doesn't here in the West. Or pretty much anywhere outside of Japan. I have never heard of anyone referring to non-Japanese animation as "anime" on this side of the Pacific.
Oh, and Googling "Disney anime" with the filters turned up gets either references to Disney licensing Miyazaki, or Disney stealing from anime (such as Atlantis vs. Nadia).

I have absolutely no idea what the hell you're talking about. It just all seems to me like completely made-up faux-intellectual conjecture that has no real grounding. Your tangets about FMA and Lain are completely and utterly baffling...I just... I don't get it. Maybe I'm too thick for your revolutionary ideas, but I really doubt that. You being totally wrong is a much more comforting and enjoyable thought process.
I replied to clear a few missconceptions and even in the event that thier are more, I will not continue this, seeing as its spam.
But they're NOT misconceptions! They're your own opinions and thoughts! What you said isn't fact! And you provided no evidence either, just answers.com!
And it's not spam, either. Believe it or not, threads are allowed to go off on tangents at AA.
These are the cold, hard facts in today's Western world which this forum and a lot of fandom adhere to: Japanese cartoons are known as anime. Anything else is known as cartoons. No one calls 'em "Japanimation" or "Japanese anime" anymore. This website isn't called Japanese Anime Academy, Anime News Network isn't called Japanese Anime News Network.
You know what? I'll stick with my "anime = Japanese animation" definition. Yeah, I like that. Much easier.

I was also hhoping people would understand the word and be able to better use it. By knowing how to catigorize anime through better terms, it will then eb able to find simular anime easier. FMA is a Action/Comedy with some deepier meaning. This is alot of Action/Comedy, and we can theoretically begin to create sub catigories to better discribe anime with just a simple title. Such as saying FMA is a Action/Commedy/Drama which is shorter than saying a funny yet thought provoking action series. We can not simply list all anime that has meaning like FMA with the same title though simply because the level varies allot. Both SE Lain and FMA are thought provoking, but SE Lain is on a much higher level than FMA, not to say FMA doesn't raise great meaningfull issues. What I'm saying is, it would allow us to make single words that give specific meaning on what the anime has, and the approximate level of the specific contents.
Here I presume you're talking about classfying anime into genres and sub genres. While this system would make it easier to sift through anime (i.e. to find anime which match your favourite genres).
It has problems though, there are differing opinions on how a specific anime is classifyed as. For example, person A thinks anime X is a action/comedy, but person B may think that there's so little comedy in it, that it doesn't deserve its comedy label.
I was hoping that I could state a simple fact and back it with evidence, and end it with something relivant to the thread, but my attempts to do such things always draw the atttention of forum trolls who only wish to dissagree. I replied to clear a few missconceptions and even in the event that thier are more, I will not continue this, seeing as its spam.
Sorry I have to disagree, the people who responded to your argument were not forum trolls. They just feel strongly about anime
So you will all stop whinning, the first anime I saw was Tenchi Muyo and Dragon Ball Z, around teh same time on Toonamie. Zoids I think i seen before that, but just say Tenchi and DBZ so no one will say "thats not 'anime'".

Maybe it will be good karma to write my first post ever on these forums in a thread about the first anime I ever watched. :)
The first animes I can remember watching any of, were Robotech and Star Blazers on TV when I was young. I didn't watch the whole series at the time and barely rememer anything of watching them. I just remember that I watched them when they were on and thought that the art style was very neat, but I was a little kid and didn't know anime came from Japan or the like. Cartoons were cartoons!
The first animes I watched that I knew were anime, were Bubblegum Crisis OAV 1-3 (the originals, not 2040) and Akira, in that order. I watched them over a weekend at a friend's house in highschool. Bubblegum Crisis was the first subtitled anime I watched, and I've been a sub-snob ever since. Maybe thanks in part to seeing the Akira dub that same weekend...

Starzinger, Balatac and Sandybell. I remember these movies with such fondness i had to buy at least starzinger. (And sandybell but dont tell anyone).
Also I have a question. I remember an old anime which i cant remember the name of. All i remember is a symbol. Its a circle and in it is some sort of really cool cat. Maybe a panther. I feel it really important to remember this anime but im clueless.

I actually remember this. When I was very young, before I even had the term "anime" in my vocabulary, I watched my very first on tv without even realizing it. The cartoon was then called "Vampire Savior", but the US release on DVD calls it "Darkstalkers". It had the same characters for the most part from the Capcom video game series of the name, and might have been why the Night Warriors series was released. I really liked it, but that was my last anime for a long time.
My first actual venture into anime knowingly, was at Hollywood Video-a video rental store. While browsing, I came across the anime section and ended up intruiged by a VHS of Ranma 1/2. I instantly fell in love and rented just about everything in the anime section.^^;

As a child, I of course watched Transformers and the like, without the knowledge that what I was seeing was actually anime. So I don't really count that to be my first anime...my first TRUE anime, and the one that got me into anime, was Iria: Zeiram the Animation, way back when I was just 10 years old, and when SciFi Channel was still good and they had their wonderful Saturday Anime block every Saturday morning.
I became interested after seeing advertisments for the "anime club" where they sent you anime VHS tapes monthly. I was a big fan of animation, but I was getting to an age where I wanted to see some more mature stuff; needless to say, seeing previews for anime like Akira on these advertisments got me pretty interested. Then, my friend tipped me off that they showed anime every Saturday on SciFi Channel. Me and both my sisters gave it a watch, and Iria was what was on. We were absolutely enthralled by it, and began watching anime every Saturday on SciFi; which soon lead to the purchasing of videos, etc; and well, here I am now; a bigger fan than ever, and hooked for life!

My first anime was Voltron and Voltron the Vehicle force. I know that they defeated King Zarkon, but what happened to Prince Lotor and Witch Haggar? What happened to the Druel Empire after Zarkon's fall? I also liked Thundercats and Silver Hawks, both of which went off the air premateurely because there wasn't any closure to Mumm Ra(Thundercats) and Mon Starr(SilverHawks). In Thundercats, did the war with the Mutants end, or is it still going? Well never know of the outcomes since they took them off the air! Also, what happened on Transformers Generation One after the origional Optimous Prime was brought back to life to control the space virus that was making people and Transformers alike become uncontrolably violent!
