Collateral and Hero.
Easy answer to that:
Ju-on: The Grudge, best Japanese horror movie ever.

Hero.
I had fun with the new resident evil movie thats because I didnt expect anything from it, I wanted to see a somewhat funny zombie movie and some minor ties to the game. I got some minor ties alright.

The movie was way off from the video game story line, so it was kinda corny.
As for best movie, Scarface and City of god for honoruable mention
hero wasnt that great, it was my second time watching it though, so maybe thats why it wasnt as great as when i last saw it.
but the best movie i saw since last month? easy, collateral

Hero = WAY overrated.
You should all go watch The Omega Man :D.
American Beauty. I've already seen it a number of times, but I had a passion to revisit it, so I did, and great as usual.

Ah, you have made a wise choice there. :D
The only movie I've seen lately was Hero. The overall message didn't agree too much with me, but otherwise, a good film.

Fahrenheit 9/11....
ok movie.....another way to hyped film.
It basically showed me what i already knew ( well most of it)
i didn't see what the big deal was
not to be rude or anything, but it was sorta boring.
GOOD movie- haven't seen one lately....

I've seen a few good movies lately. "Unlucky Hero" by Sabu has to be the most memorable experience from the past month, as I saw it in an open air movie theater with people drinking wine and beer and having a laugh at it. Some other good films I've seen more recently include a quirky canadian semi-musical, "Saddest Music In The World", "Smoke", "Tokyo Story", "In The Mood For Love" and of course, my fav hang over movie, "Chung King Express".
Grave of the Fireflies, got it for my birthday.

watch farenHYPE 9/11 and you'll see how much crap Mr. Moore has made up or twisted. go to http://www.fahrenhype911.com/
Here's some of the OBVIOUS bullshit that Moore throws.
First, Farenhype had 3 or 4 folks on there that said Moores interviews were either staged (ie: he never interviewed them, just spliced tape to make it look like he did) or completely lied about the interview topic and edited it for change. This isn't someone else claiming it. These are the very people Moore used as the basis of many of his facts.
Second, Farenhype took many of the clips that Moore used and put them back into context. For example, that clip of Bush in his tux saying "We are the haves and have mores. Some call you the elite, I call you my base." It's intent is to show how detached Bush is from the common man. How he is part of the "secret society". Well, Farenhype opens up the shop and guess what? There's Al Gore! They're sitting at a Catholic Charities fundraiser for children's hospitals! The context was they were the haves and have mores and it's time to give back.
now back to the question...... hmmmmmm.... the best movie is a tie between Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction

Amen to that.
I have a lot of favorites. Basically it's about every movie I've seen recently. :p And I still love Disney movies. I grew up with them, I can't help but still love them. :D
Donnie Darko = overrated. By all means, it's not bad, but not as good as most would tell you.

Actually, I've heard FarenHYPE 9/11 was just about a bunch of people all upset and sad about what Micheal Moore had said. My friends had seen the trailer and said that none of the people even had valid points. Couldnt it also be that the people in this movie, had just twisted the truth back around to what they wanted it to be? I mean, in Farenheit 9/11, Bush just sat there like a moron reading "My Pet Goat" to little children as the World Trade Centre was being blown up. How would that be explained in better terms? I'm just thinking that too many people took Farenheit 9/11 too harshly. I mean, the killing of innocent people in other countries, the ignoring Osama's threat, Bush's 40% vacation time, and all of that other crap can't really be good things. If Farenheit 9/11 was twisting the truth so much, wouldnt it be illegal to release? Anyway, I'll watch the trailer a bit later when I get back from school to see what it's really like. I just think that many people were insulted at Micheal Moore's truth, and made a movie saying that they didnt like them, and "How dare he puts down our country. Were the best. We can't look bad". And I'm not anti-american. But I've heard lots of comments like that.

Farenhype 9/11....
people just are pissed because Moore explained the news like it was
instead of what normal media does.

Or maybe it's because of editting, clever usage of statistics, and playing on the emotions of people it makes him have a more compelling argument than he really has.

Farenhype actually addresses all of the issues u were talking about like Moore counting time Bush was NOT in the white house as vacation time and that it's not like Bush should've scared the kids by jumping up and running out the door, besides, it's not like if he would've left he could've saved anyone or done anything.

Well, I saw Sky Captain recently which was good fun, but most recently saw Man on Fire which is pretty damn fine as well I thought. Though if a film features a fat man with a bomb up his back passage it gets my vote.
On a side point would Ju-On : The Grudge be worth it on DVD? I missed it in the cinema so that's the only option. And no, I don't consider going to see 'The Grudge' an option. Alo, we hear they are doing The Ring 2, Dark Water, Infernal Affairs and Chaos as well. Joy.

Seen a fair few lately, mainly thanks to ebay, but also a couple at the cinema
Wong Kar Wai- Days of Being Wild
Wong Kar Wai- Fallen Angels
Michael Mann- Collateral
Also bought WKW's Ashes of Time, mainly as a part of completing my WKW collection, but it was very poor indeed. Not that anyone's gonna watch it, but if you do ever feel tempted to see it, find something else instead.

I'd say no, just hire at your local Blockbuster, it's not particularly scary really. I do agree about the crappy American remakes though, I can just see how poor the Infernal Affairs remake is gonna be. For those of you who don't know, Leonardo di Caprio is playing Tony Leung's character, it's a disaster waiting to happen.
