I read this artilcle a while back and have been meaning to post it for a while now. It's about a group of Iraqi guys who get together and try to play some metal, however hard that may be to do.

It gives an insight into the life of some Iraqis you otherwise wouldn't see, it's very interesting, really frightening and morbidly funny. Anyways, I'll let the article speak for itself:

Discression is advised though, this magazine isn't exactly PG-13, swear words, adult themes etc.

Pretty long article, but its good to see they have something. Better to be putting negative energy into metal than.. ya know, picking people off with an AK47. Life will return to some state of normality in Iraq and music is a good start.

Wow, what an awesome article you found. I've never felt like I've taken my metal for granted until now. Using T.V.'s as pre-amps? That's badass. And the stuff they sing about, that's true metal material. I'll never be able to write lyrics again. I mean, what can I bitch about? People roaming the streets with guns at night? Not here.

That's a moving article. Those guys are devoted.

I know this is a major necro bump, but this article never really left my memory, and in my wanderings of the internet, I actually found a follow-up story on Youtube:

It gives us a short but non-bias look at life in Iraq and, my God, it's tense. My respect for Vice journalism just sky-rocketed.
