I wanted to know how many episodes there were and what people thought about it since it isn't in the library. And if it is worth buying

112 episodes.
I never finished it. Of what I've seen, it was decent.

It's a fun show, nothing revolutionary or amazing in any way, but it was definitely entertaining and I felt it was worth a watch.

I enjoy it. Ghost fighter is good er I mean YuYuhakusho. And I think its made by the same creator as hunterxhunter. Which makes it evan better! The names Eugene, Dennis, Vincent, and Alfred always come to mind when ever I watch YuYuHakusho.
There are better anime out there but you should get it if your a big fan.

I personaly thought this anime was rather good except for the first so many episodes but once you get past those the rest is pretty much all good. Be sure to watch this anime all the way to the end thou or you will miss out on the best female character in this series Mukuro.

That's funny, because I thought the exact opposite. The beginning episodes were good because they were entertaining. The characters were likeable and the plot was both comedic and action-oriented.
Then it fell into the old Tournament deathtrap, and I lost all interest in it. I've got better things to do than watch an anime whose sole purpose is to hold fighting tournament after fighting tournament. "Fighting Tournament" is the antithesis of "plot."

I actually agree that to many fight scenes does tend to destroy a great deal of animes. However the first episodes in yuu yuu hakusho just don't blend well with the rest of the series (they don't fit). They don't contribute to the plot on a whole with the rest of the series. It kinda reminded me of Full Metal Paninc and the fumuffu sequal but reversed. The first episodes r like just filler that only gives you a base to show were the main character came from. Which isn't a bad thing but it just is outa place with the rest of the series (at least in my opinion).

What I'm saying is that those "filler" episodes were the best IMO in terms of plot, situation, dialogue, and character development. "Too many fight scenes" aren't what ruin an anime. It's the anime in which the only plot is to beat "bad" guys, power up, and beat more "bad" guys in an endless Tournament style show... Hmm. I just can't stand those. From the early episodes, I had higher hopes that were quickly disappointed.
Yu Yu Hakusho is probably a great series for people who like tournament-style anime. I may even be wrong and it might have some fantastic plot underlying the fighting that I just couldn't see or stopped the series too early to see.
But it seems to me that most of the character development is in the earlier episodes, so if someone is looking for a show high on that, they'd do better to stick to a different series.

112 with 3 movies rumored a 4th but doubt it. I have seen all of the Japanese episodes of Yu yu Hakusho and still watching the English versiion for any changes. Yu Yu Hakusho is on one of my top list of Anime's it's allway's and allway's be.....

Actually I don't think the first few eps of YYH are filler, they do happen in the manga. And I also disagree about them out of place. Because in my opinion, they were there for a reason and weren't exactly out of place. I mean they were kind of there to lay the foundation for the rest of the series in my opinion.
The first few eps were(slight spoiler):
Yusuke dies>Yusuke comes back to life>Yusuke now has to work for Koenma because he was kind of responsible for getting him back=many of the things that happen in the series, thus, it wasn't all out of place in my opinion.
In my opinion, I've only seen a large amount of episodes, but not all, but from what I've seen it's good.
I've seen all the episodes( 112 ) and never read the manga :)
Anyway, I personally love the series. It’s not the best, and the begging kind of bored me ( probably because CN replayed them too much -.-; ), but I love the action :). Also, another thing I like about it :) the fights don't last forever ^^ like a certain anime I know of.
And, This anime is what got me into hunter X hunter! ( same creator ^^ )

The anime is good. It could have been great if it was about 22 episodes shorter. (I don't mean cut off the last part, but rather condense all the fillers and flashbacks in the middle.) It also could have been better if it was slightly more gory when Sensui came around.. the manga counterpart nailed Sensui's point with gore......

YYH is better in Japanese because for some reason, FUNi changed the dialogue in certain places.
For example, read the quote in my sig. That quote is not in the English version and I think it is pretty funny.
Otherwise, YYH is a great fighting series. Fights aren't 15 episodes long, and you actually care about the characters alot more than a certain other anime in this category...

YYH is my favorite anime series. One of the best qualities about it are the fact it has NO filler episodes, and just improves on some of the manga's unfinished thoughts. All anime adaptations should be that.
I don't know, for some reason my favorite characters in this series are far different than the usual.
Beautiful Suzuki
Toguro Ani
Yomi
Seriously, every single one of those guys are PWNAGE. @_@ But if I chose a main character Hiei all the way, followed by Kuwabara. You should definately watch this series if you haven't. Read the manga too. The manga is great, but the anime is even better. How often do you get THAT?

I use to be a big fan of Yu Yu Hakusho, but I realized it was nothing special. It's definitly worth watching if your a action anime fan, It starts getting stupid after the dark tournament tho.

I have seen a massive eight episodes of the series....yeah, go me. No network around here carries and while I did enjoy those eight episodes it wasn't enough to inspire me to buy it or anything...So its one of the few really popular shows I haven't seen.
All I know is that there is alot of shows. But, like with all animes, they get better drawn with time so I would guess about a hundred and thirty shows...I dont know to be honest and I dont want to look it up.

112 actually. I enjoyed the animation at the beginning more, first 40 or so episodes. Around episode 50 or so in a few episodes the animation was HORRIBLE. But it slowly got better. However the animation in the last fight was incredibly awesome.

Anyways, the main thing this show proves is that an anime should be made after the end of the manga.

I really like Yu Yu Hakusho and it is one of the only long series that I collected one DVD at a time. Even though I enjoyed the series throughout I will say I think the first arc was the best storywise, after that it was the characters not the plot that kept me watching. Even now I still love Yusuke, Kurama, Hiei and Kuwabara. Though I liked Yusuke a little less as the story went on and he got super strong. The other 3 remained great characters.
So a very fun show, nothing groundbreaking. But one thing I can say for Yu Yu Hakusho that I can't say for most other long-running action series is the anime basically has no filler.

I am quite enjoying it too, though I hope they introduce some new anime since Spiral, Fruits Basket, and Galaxy Railways are only about 25 or so episodes long each. I think Yu Yu and Kodocha will be sticking around for awhile, being 100 episodes each. It would be nice if other channels could have an anime block as well. I know the Action channel has some anime, but I don't get that one so I miss out.
