DC has the best hero: Green Lantern. Whatupwiththat?

I dont really have a favorite Marvel hero, I just like a whole bunch.

DC also has the best villain: Joker.

But Marvel has a lot of cool ones too. Magneto just rules. Omega Red is cool. Doc Oc is pretty nifty.

But they're all second place to THE CRIMSON CHIN!

Favorite heroes:

#1: Spiderman. I've been a big fan for as far back as I can remember.

#2: Gambit. He's a Cajun guy in a trenchcoat who blows up things with cards. If that isn't cool, then nothing is.

#3: Captain America. Anyone who does not like this man is a communist.

Villian:

Venom. Needs no explaining.

The Punisher is a very cool super hero.

I hate to say what every one else has said but I also have to say that Venom is, hands down, the coolest villain ever.

P.S. I hope he is one of the villains in the Live action spiderman movies.

Favorite Villian: Dr. Doom.

As far as villains go, Venom > all.

For heroes, Spiderman and Storm are my favorites.

Fav Heroes: Spiderman, The Punisher, Gambit, Woverine, Nightcrawler and Captain America.

Fav Villians: The Scorpion Guy (from Spiderman), Venom, and the Juggernaut.

But the best superhero of all time is Batman. What I like about him is that he's so much more realistic and believable than most of the other heroes. He wasnt born with super powers. He's just a man. A genius. And he invented all this cool weaponry to fight crime with, and save lives. The best part is he really puts his life at risk to save a lot of people, even though he has no powers. A lot of other superheroes put their lives on the line, but since they have powers, it's not as risky.

in the long term, Venom has always been my favorite hero AND villain.

But as far as clear-cut heros/villains go:

Spider-Man
Wolverine

Green Goblin / Hobgoblin / Demogoblin
Onslaught
Carnage

Red Skull and Magneto have also had some awesome moments. Red Skull made me shiver with flavor in Captain America vol3, i was almost tearing up from the evil.

From the Marvel series my favorite hero would have to be out of Spiderman and Wolverine. Villains I would have to say Venom and Magneto heh im a Spiderman and X-men fan.

As for DC comics I would have to say Green Lantern for the hero and for the villain, Joker. I really do not like Superman I mean he is too powerful.

Jay

both alien symbiotes yes, but not the same. carnage was born on earth and became somewhat mutated because of this, thus has more abilities than thevenom symbiote. also carange is a crazy serial killer and venom's just a failed reporter with a grudge against spider-man. you'll never see venom drilling a hole into anybody head with his finger, i tell ya. that was so cool

Heroes
Spiderman- Some really cool powers and a really cool character.
Wolverine- Total badass with claws. What's not to like?
Gambit- Gambit's always held a special place in my heart. I don't know why. I think his cool powers and accent might have something to do with it.

Villains
Dr. Doom- First and foremost on of the best villains ever created. He just seems so classic. He's the villain to end all villains.
Venom- He's got some really amazing powers that rival spiderman's. I always kinda felt Carniage was just a cheap knock off.
Juggernaut- The unstoppable juggernaut. He's like a semi truck with a helmet.

That's also my favorite "anti-hero". He, everyone here likes Venom, but nobody likes Spawn, mmm :3huh: ...maybe because they dont know that Todd MacFarlane co-created Venom in the time he worked for Marvel?

My favorite Marvel hero is Captain America... I don't know why, but he just has that patriotic appeal... same reason why I like Superman a lot.

Runner-Up: Iron Man, for the sole fact that he looks really really cool.

My favorite Marvel villain would have to be Dr. Doom... mainly because he looks cool...

Runner-Up: Carnage, mainly because he kills cool...

In end... Marvel sucks, DC is better, but Marvel does sometimes strike gold and even when they don't, their characters look cooler.

Hmm, since it's Marvel, I'll go with Spiderman for hero (no sh*t, right?) and Venom for villain.

I suppose I should note that I listed Spiderman because of the live action movies, I've never seen the cartoon. Oh, and I listed Venom because he looks cool...man, I really need to be schooled in the comics area.

Well, I generally hate Marvel, so the only cool heros I can think of are Gambit and Blade. Villians, only Venom jumps to mind (not really a villian though).

Now, if we're talking real comics, best heros are Jesse Custer, Morpheus (not from Matrix), and John Constantine (although, he's both villain and hero). Best bad guys, probably The First Of The Fallen.

LoL, you should check out IGN.com's new comics section... they have this wierd thing where they put Batman up against crazy enemies and let people send in emails telling "How Batman Beat Them".... the first one was Galactus.... it was quite interesting.

Ah, they call it, "Use Your Delusion", here's a link.

That's a tough question......I've dug everyone that's been mentioned so far.

Dr. Strange.... he deserves some props for taking on such psychedelic villians as Dormammu, Nightmare, Zom and the personifications of various universal abstracts, including Eternity.

And kudos to The Mighty Thor for taking on such heavy-weights as Mangog (who had the power of a billion-billion beings, as he never tired of reminding everyone), The Destroyer, and an entire host of The Celestials.

Are there any No-prizes being awarded for this?

Remember not to park your car in the Negative Zone.

On another note I remember that Larry Walker appeared in a spiderman comic as a Montreal Expo back in '94 before the strike (possibly only released in Canada) and he beat up the Green Goblin with a bat. That was cool.

Ick, Marvel.

The only Marvel I read is Captain America's current run and the Ultimate universe stuff because it's much better than the shit they're churning out at the moment.

But that aside, Spider-Man. He's the only Marvel hero I actually have genuinely fondness for. Daredevil's OK, but he's kind of a rip-off Batman....I do need to check out the Miller run and his current run, though. It looks awesome.

Favourite villian? I'm going to be crushingly unoriginal and go for Venom. Red Skull is cool, too. And Carnage.

DC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Marvel, though. Always.

Marvel, eh? Why not...

Best Superheroes:
Wolverine (X-MEN): Yeah, very synonymous with Marvel and the X-MEN. Seriously, with rapid healing abilities and claws that can pretty much cut through anything, this beast is unstoppable. Always been a favorite with me ever since I was acquainted with the X-MEN.

Archangel (X-MEN): I hate the normal counterpart Angel, because he practically can't do anything else except to soar like a bird. Looks cool, plus I love the metallic wings. Too bad there isn't much emphasis on this dude on anywhere else except for in the comics.

Punisher (The Punisher): One dude that gives a sh*t about the baddies he'll be gunning down. Unforgiving, relentless and full of unsurpressed rage and he'll let the guns do the talking. 'Nuff said.

Blade (Blade): One narly half-vampire that knows how to vaporize the bloodsuckers in fashionable style. Very unconventional and pulls no punches with his gruff and no-nonsense demeanor. Kind of like the comical mirror of Alucard Nosferatu of Hellsing.

Best Supervillains:
Venom (Spider-man): His vicious looks really makes Spider-man look gay. He really gives Spidey a run for his money with his lunacy and crazed demeanor. Probably the only villain in the Spider-man comics that clicked with me.

Red Skull (Captain America): I don't know, but something about him just stir some interest in me. Maybe he's of German descent (correct me if you will) or he can match up with Captain America one-on-one. I wish there's more exposure given to him on the big screen.

Apocalypse (X-MEN): Damn, he can grow up and make Shaq look like a midget. Being almost invulnerable, he really push the X-MEN up to the limit.

Hahaha... it seems you didn't read DC during the 60s, 70s and quite the stint in the late 90s. Their comics SUCKED ass.

Yeah, we've been over this before and I still prefer DC, mainly because I simply wasn't alive at the time - it's completely and utterly irrelevant to me. >_> I like the characters more, the classic stories more, the mythos more, the general DC universe has much more appeal to me. The villains are generally better, I like the idea of there being more lower-tier superheroes, unlike the Marvel comics where seemingly everyone is super-powerful. And of course, DC spawned Vertigo.

I'm well aware DC weren't so hot at one point in the past, but that's not going to make me stop liking them far more than Marvel. It was decades ago now, all comic companies have their low points.

And really, most comics were bad during the late 90's.

soundchazer
08-28-2006, 05:04 AM
BY the same token, I could talk for days about some classic Marvel storylines and how Marvel created the concept that Vertigo would later use with its Epic line.

I prefer Marvel to DC because their super heroes are flawed individuals and therefore can have more interesting storylines. DC for the most part likes iconic characters (and I don't include Vertigo there, since Vertigo in reality is mostly NOT about super heroes to begin with). The problem with iconic characters (like Superman) is that they can get boring real fast because in reality they are just too perfect and powerful.

Wolverine vs Sabertooth clashes were always my favorite, Since Wolverine's past was mostly unknown until recently (Orgins), there was a mystery to him that appealed to me. Since Sabertooth is very close to his past and went through the same ordeals as Wolverine (being a mutant, working as an intelligence agent) he appealed to me as well. Wolverine's tortured past bit and red rage got old from time to time but sometimes it was gold, and him killing his fiance Mariko had me teary eyed.

My favorite hero? Probably The Punisher. I like anti-heroes.

Favorite villain? Magneto. He just rules, man. He isn't some idiot who is criminally insane, a hired muscle for someone else, a greedy person who ruthlessly searches for money or power, or just one of those "I R EVAL" characters. No... Magneto is something else. He is a man whose motives I can truly believe. Having his entirely family assassinated by machinegun fire, which he survived, raised in a concentration camp, condemned to extermination because of what he was... and then, he sees that the same thing is about to happen again, and tries desperately to prevent it. He has experienced first hand the cruelty of humanity and believes the same fate is in store for mutants... and is determined to stop it at any cost.

"When I was a child my people talked while others prepared for war. They used reason while others used tanks and they were destroyed for their trouble! I won't stand by and watch it happen again! I won't!" - Magneto
