Your Top Ten List?

I don't see how people can rate animes of different genres better then each other like either Neon Genesis:Evangelion or Fooly Cooly is the best anime I have ever seen, but I can't rate one over the other cause they are nothing alike. I was just wondering how other people make tough decisions like that???

i don't like rating anime because of how various it is. what do you judge on? characters? art? there's so much you could judge on and how can anyone pick a fave when you learn something from each anime (even pokemon but i won't go there)

I don't think I have a top 10 since no matter who you are, you can't have seen ALL the anime out there, so how would you really know if it's the best or not? If I was forced to, I probably would do the same thing as Ninja Velmor.

All GOOD anime are special in there own way, so no top 10 list for me. By the way, there's too many good anime for me to keep track of, so I can't really make a top 10 list.

It's just the anime I can watch again and again or that just put me in a state of shock that I've never quite recovered from that I claim are my favorites. It's purely different strokes for different folks when it comes to anime, that's why there is no absolute number one anime(no matter what Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop fans claim). Anime's a medium which allows fans of various genres to come together and explore other genres, but the anime that stay with us no matter what genre we love are the greatest above all others.

I do not see why people have a hard time rating anime. If you like one series or movie more then another it does not mean you are saying one is better, it just means that you have a preference and there is nothing wrong with that.

why not? generally a given person's coveted "top ten anime list" is based on which series he enjoyed most and so on. I rate FLCL higher than EVA b/c i enjoyed watching it more, genre nonewithstanding.

I truly agree that a top 10 is quite hard to decide upon. But I also beieve that it should be UPDATED as you continue to watch more Anime. That is how it is for me. It's easy FLCL is better because it's short, sweet, simple, but at the same time confusing, immature, and unreallistic. Hey nothing is perfect, in fact flaws are what make it great. Not to mention, it's replay value is priceless....Besides, Canti is the best character ever.

For me it's all about how an anime affects me on an emotional level. If it makes me connect with the characters and the story. Stirs me somehow. That's how I pick my fave. So what genre it is doesn't really make much of a difference.

In order to rate anime I rate it as a whole. Its overall greatness is what matters to me. Now, to the top 10 list:

1. Saber Marionette J: Beutiful... simply beutiful.
2. Inuyasha: Altough I haven't finished seeing it, I love it.
3. Evangelion: May have freaked me out at times, but its great neverthless.
4. The End Of Evangelion: This movie was a way better conclusion to Evangelion than the crappy ending of the TV series.
5. Cowboy Bebop: Almost all of the episodes was like a miniplot in itself. The only thing I hated was Julia. Her character was like "Ohh, I love Spike!" I swear Edd had a better character than her.
6. Trigun: The vast comedy and drama centered around Vash The Stampede ensure this series a spot on my list.
7.Those Who Hunt Elves: A great comedy that had me rolling on the floor with laugther.
8. Detective Conan: I love this series! It had drama, comedy, and it even chalenged my intellect!
9. Sakura Card Captor: Another one I never finished, neverthless managed to capture my mind. I liked it a lot.
10. Ah my goddess!(OVA): The love, the comedy, they were excellent. But I still don't undestand people who think Belldandy is hot. To me, she is as cold as ice.

The first thing I look for in an anime is whether or not I can be entertained on a surface level, if not I don't care about the "technical quality" of an anime. The second thing is how deep the anime digs into life, itself, and its characters. If an anime leaves me with everything in a neat little package I tend to lose interest, what really keeps me hooked is if I find myself thinking about an anime long after its over. Oh and Lupin rocks.

For me it's enjoyment and how much impact the anime had on me. The more I enjoy an anime, the higher quality it is to me. If that makes any sense.

I just did it based on my own enjoyment. We've got plenty of other threads debating the technical merits and demerits of everyone's favorite anime. I figured this one would be purely anime that we just enjoyed, regardless of quality.

Besides, quality is overrated when it comes to enjoyment. :p

That's nothing compared to "Agent Paranoia" - undoubtedly the funniest eff-up of it I've seen yet. Then there's the legendary (on AA) "Wich Hunter D (http://www.animeacademy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16676)" which can't be beaten. "Scythed" still never fails to amuse me either. :XD:

Oh man my list is forever changing but at the minute I am massively into Studio ghibli. I am just flabbergasted by the fact that in my opinion they have never turned out a bad anime. So for my top 10 you can just put any ghibli stuff in at all. The only thing I can say is that Nausicaa is definitely at number 1 that is just an amazing anime.

1) Samurai Champloo- I adore this series right now. I like how it mixes traditional Japanese history with urban hip hop. Must. Watch. It. Now...

2) Gravitation- Yes, it's a fangirl favorite, but I love it too. Shuichi is just too hilarious for words.

3) Gundam Wing- Another fangirl favorite... I like it for the mechas, though. Yeah... The Mechas... XD

4) Serial Experiments Lain- When I watched the first episode of this series, I was completely hooked on it. Since I love all things dealing with technology, this anime became an instant favorite.

5) Peacemaker Kurogane- Blood. Action. Comedy. Love it.

6) GetBackers- This show is the hierarchy of cool. I love the art and the action is very good. I haven't seen the entire series yet but I plan to...

7) Cowboy Bebop- I can never get enough of this series, no matter how many times I watch it.

8) Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu- Random comedy= awesome favorite.

9) GANTZ- I've seen only two episodes of this anime, but it was so good, I HAVE to include it on my top ten.

10) Chrno Crusade- I love religious anime, so I simply have to love this series. The plot is really good and the character designs are top notch. There is a need for more fans of this series...
