I'm not really partial to Mecha animes, but since RahXephon was the latest one I seen, I'd say RahXephon. I would say Big-O but I didn't get to finish that :(

Eva mechas make the difference in the anime. I mean isn't just the pilot and the mecha (Mazinger Z or even Gundam) it is a deeper relationship...

I say RahXephon. Not because of the mecha themselves, or the mecha fighting, but since I believe it's the best anime out of the ones listed. Evangelion would be a close second, for the same reasons as RahXephon.

My favourite mecha series, this time based entirely on mecha action, is Full Metal Panic.

that was a tough one, i voted gundam, even though i like eva and a bunch not listed more than most of the gundam series', i have to admit, gundam 08th ms team, and gundam seed, are two of the best anime of any kind ive ever seen, let alone mecha anime.

Eva, but I don't consider it traditional mecha. Gundam scores high on my list, but I only seem to like some of the series and not others, so it's a mixed bag there.

To tell the truth though, my real favorite is not really anime at all. It's Transformers.

I vote other. It would have been Gundam, but I noticed it said all, when I truly hate Gundam Wing, SD, and G. I love Gundam, don't get me wrong, but I like the ORIGNAL! Gundam universe and the epic battle between Zeon (Hail ZEON!) and the Earth Federation (Oppressive Feddies! BAH!). The characters and Mech design was much more realisitc, it had excellent, EXCELLENT, military action, the characters were actually relatable and realistc, and I loved every second of it. So thats my vote.

I voted for Evangelion. I loved it right up to the end, then I got confused, and I 'm still not really sure how it ended. Even so the show was great. Awesome battle scenes. And all the characters were so loveable in their own twisted way. Except Gendo. We don't like him. :evil
Rahxephon sounds interesting, I just haven't had a chance to see it yet.

Though there is Transformers Armada... It's anime right?

Both are Japanese, but for some reason the original Transformers went undetected in Japan and made it big in the U.S., as far as I know.

All the original Transformers Episodes were animated in Japan, with the exception of a few episodes made in Korea. Transformers does have quite a significant following in japan, otherwise they wouldn't produced their Japanese exclusive TF shows that continued even after the original series stopped in the US. The fanbase in Japamn is big enough for Takara to churn out so much exclusive stuff for them this year, durin g the 20th anniversary

This one is easy. GUNDAM ALL THE WAY!! Without Gundam, mecha anime wouldn't be what it is today.

I'm hesitant to call Eva a mecha anime. It's just about so much more than giant robots and space battles (well, Gundam is too, but you know what I mean). I'd have to call it more of just a general Sci-Fi series.

And I can't believe Getter Robo is even a choice. While I don't know about the old series, Getter Robo Armageddon is just plain awful.

Only one Patlabour fan? That's to bad, I think it's one of the best mecha anime's out there (with the exception of WXIII, don't get me wrong, it's an excellent film, but it's not got much to do with Patlabours....)

My favorite is by far Evangelion. I thought the characters were imaginative, the songs were great, the storyline was rooted in Christianity, and I just enjoyed it in general.

I'm going to have to throw out three titles on this one... a beloved classic, one with a retro feel, and a "new kid on the block".

The blast from the past is Super Dimension Fortress Macross... a series many of us older fans remember from childhood, but which has also attracted a younger group of devotees. My second pick is Giant Robo because it's reminiscent of the classic boy/ giant mech combos seen in Johnny Sokko (live-action) and Gigantor, which I still love. Finally.. I just started watching RahXephon and from what I've seen so far, I have to go with this as my third choice.

As for the mecha designs, concepts, action and fighting... Evangelion, in my opinion, would be the best...

Technically, I'd count Robotech as macross since it merely uses it as a base for it. Anyway, it's purely a classic: Nice mecha designs, exciting dog fights, love triangles, proof that music can wage war as well as wage peace between humans and aliens :GD

First and foremost..Mazinger Z. others are UC Gundam, Z.O.E, Eureka 7 and Full Metal panic. the latter two with minimal emphasis of mechs themselves, which is why the rare fightscenes were badass.

I would have to go with Full Metal Panic (then entire series thus far, yes even Fumoffu, too damn funny to not love) for my favorite mecha anime, it's one of my favorites anime overall in the first place. I love the designs of the mechs themselves, the characters, and the plot. It's well paced and well written in my opinion. Even though I'm quite fond of mecha anime in general. FMP just seems to do it for me.

Well I would say Evangelion but since didn't see it (yeah blame me) I vote vor RahXephon. I've also seen some of the Gundam things but I prefer RahXephon. But there's another Mecha anime I like and has been already mentioned, Full Metal Panic!

Rahxephon was my favorite because of the character complexity despite the heavy plot holes. The early gundam shows were all solid as well and interested me quite a bit. Macross, Macross II and Macross+ all had my favorite dogfights though. So it was a tough decision for me. Rahxephon edges the competition out slightly

Even though I haven't seen the whole series, Full Metal Panic is the most intriguing. It's got great action scenes and a pretty good story. I want to finish the first series so I can watch the second raid and the OVA.
