On Your Mark - 9.5/10: Great song, great animation, great characters...only Miyazaki, with the music from Chage & Aska, could make such a brilliant masterpiece without any spoken dialogue. Only bad thing is that it got a little confusing here and there.

I agree with your score good anime

One Piece (up to eps. 174) - 9.0
I just love this show! Its funny, creative, enjoyable, with great characters! The show is long but manages to be fresh and exciting without becoming painfully repetitive (I know the overall adventures are repetitive, but the show hides that well).

Full Metal Panic! - [8.0]

Highs: Excellent balance of comedy, action, and drama. The main protagonist's military-minded, socially-naive personality is good for laughs. Characters are mostly interesting. Mech action is a mix of your standard Gundam fights with a touch of Eva (AT fields). High quality art and animation.

Lows: Plot is scattered and disfunctional. Weak romantic development. Character's histories are hinted at, but never fully elaborated on.

Chrno Crusade - [4.5]

Highs: Series gets more interesting near the end. Characters are nicely developed. Pretty animation.

Lows: Plot is stupid. Action is bland. Annoying side grate on your nerves.

Only Yesterday- 7.5 I had taped on TCM a while ago. It's not a Miyazaki movie, but it's produced by him and amde by Issao Takahata. It's no masterpiece, but a light touchy film nonetheless. Nothing really happens of any significance, but It's a girl's story about growing up and and living life to the fullest in general.

Niea_7 8/10- I love Abe Yoshitoshi I think all his series have a certain quality to them that draws me to them. I also really love his Character Designs.

Honey and Clover 9/10- I simple and beautiful story. I reminded me so much of what is was like while I was in college trying to figure things out.

Monster 10/10- This is the most amazing anime I have ever seen. I am sure a lot of other people will not agree but I loved straight to the top of my List of favorites.

Paradise Kiss: 9 Wow. This is one mighty fine series. Manga fans can rejoice, as it stays very true to the original work, and people who have never read the manga need not worry, as no prior knowledge is needed.

It's filled with lush visuals, and bar a couple bits here and there the animation is smooth as silk caressed by George himself. The soundtrack, whilst not entirely to my taste, is very appropriate and utilised well. Each of our characters have depth to them, and it's refreshing to see such a great character driven series, with some very sweet moments chucked in for good measure.

Now there are a few downsides. For the first few episodes, the super deformity feels forced and somewhat disjointed, but that gets better as teh series goes along. Although they didn't bother me, the eyecatch....scene change thingies...the daisies and such may annoy some people. And there is the final episode, which is rushed. I started that episode with a WTF? before catching up halfway through it. It really should have had an extra episode.

Overall, highly recommened.

Twelve Kingdoms: 9.3. One of the richest fantasy dramas I've ever seen. The third arc alone could rate as one of the best series ever, with possibly the best ending of all time.

Infinite Ryvius: 8.5. I loved most of this anime, especially the youths on the Ryvius. I was less impressed with the scenes involving adults who weren't on the Ryvius.

s-CRY-ed: 6.0.

Samurai Champloo (TV dub, thru #22): 7.0. This one is slipping badly, even in style points.

Maison Ikkoku (thru #13): 8.2. No complaints or weaknesses, but it just hasn't caught my interest. I can do this one an episode at a time.

Gankutsuou (thru #8): 9.0. There are very few anime that make me interested in the original source material. There was Hikaru No Go and Fullmetal Alchemist, and now there's Gankutsuou.

Read or Die (OVA), ROD TV - 8.5
Both get the same score for different reasons. The OVA's have an original concept along with some sweet moments between characters and of course the action scenes are creative and worth watching all on their own. Unfortunately as a stand alone series there wasn't much explained in the way of the plot, and also some character development was obviously foregone as well.

The tv series is better in terms of the two low points of the OVA's and tries to patch up some of the plot holes, but sometimes the pacing feels a little off. It also has a somewhat tepid ending too.

Gravion - 5.0
It's not bad as such, as the delivery is ok, but it uses perhaps one of the most generic concepts around (it even has it's own cheesy voltron formation song!), and never really tries to scale any great heights anyway. Average.

Azumanga Daioh: The Very Short Movie - 9/10: Wow. Everything you love about Azumanga Daioh in 6 minutes of insanity. I approve!

Azumanga Web Daioh - 7/10: It's a fun, entertaining little movie with an amazing ending. However, I was disappointed with the lack of Osaka-ness.

Puchi Puri Yuushi: 8.5/10 Overall I really did enjoy this series from beginning to end. The first episode really began with some light fluff and introduction to the characters, which was nice, but with the american name being Petite Princess Yucie, I wasn't completely pulled in, but it no doubtedly caught my interest. The beginning episodes were full of light fun, with new characters introduced and a 'Job of the Week' theme throughout the first half of the series. In the later half it began picking up it's pace, bringing in necessary information on each of the girls in the story, the eternal tiara, and some relationships between old characters in the past. Once episodes 14-26 came around, I just couldn't down the series. It went from it's light joyful fun, to some drama a bit of action here and there in the later episodes and an overall good story. Overall this series was a pleasure to watch all the way through, it was slow in the early episodes, but the final episodes were worth the wait.

Azumanga Daioh: The Very Short Movie: 7/10: It was a quick 7-9 minute clip about the girls in high school, showing each character with what personality they had, the little Osaka ordeal at the end with her story on Chiyo-chan was quite amusing, but the movie wasn't anything special, just the same old stuff that was pretty predictable throughout the few minutes.

The Place Promised in Our Early Days: 8 This is a solid movie, a good follow up from the director of Hoshi no Koe. The film uses and interesting Science Fiction element, and a good deal of political thriller thrown in for good measure.

However, like 2-20, I felt that the relationship between the three was not expanded upon enough, and it ended up feeling like a jack of all trades, master of none. It didn't have a solid direction, it didn't quite know what it wanted to be, a romance, sci-fi, or a politcal thriller.

Overall, despite the downsides, it was still and enjoyable film, and it made sense. Recommended.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam 9.5/10

Possibly one of the best Gundam series ever made and I can certainly see why. Zeta Gundam is a direct sequel to the orginal classic Mobile Suit Gundam. Unlike many sequels, Zeta Gundam manages to create an original, yet similar, story that involves the main characters from the previous show, without allowing them to overwhelm the new ones. However much like its predecessor Zeta Gundam is a Greek tragedy disguised as an anime.

Zeta Gundam's plot, both in the beginning of the series and in general, is the same as its predecessor's. Boy finds Gundam, pilots Gundam, and then battles in big war and discovers new powers and friends. However Zeta Gundam isn't that simple. While much of the background politics are very much open to the viewer, a fair amount of the series depends not on the outcome of a battle or who has the most powerful weapon, but which side a certain character happens to be on. Zeta Gundam isn't for those who like flashy mobile suits and one-sided battles. It'll make you think even if only a little.

Unfortunatly Zeta Gundam does require some knowledge of the orginal. Even though many characters from the original are reintroduced, the information you need to know about them is feed to you through other characters, who have either heard of their war-exploits or happen to know them personally. The viewer doesn't need to know all the little details and the stuff that isn't told or is hinted at is either left up to the viewer to figure out or is simply told later on.

The animation that is used in Zeta Gundam is nowhere near as crisp or smooth as the animation used today. Zeta Gundam's animation is all hand drawn and surprisingly detailed. The animation noticibly improves from the beginning of the story where it's closer to Mobile Suit Gundam's animation, to the end of the story where there is far less distortion in peoples movements and the mobile suits.

The music used in Zeta Gundam is really nothing spetacular and rather bland and cheesey. Almost as if it was taken directly from a cheesey 80's soapopera. With that being said the music isn't one of the reasons you're going to be liking Zeta Gundam. The charatcers are.

Often in Zeta Gundam we have static, unchanging and flat-out boring characters who never seem to learn a lesson or two, never change, and are exactly the same way they were at the beginning and end of a battle. With the exception of a few characters who aren't meant to last no more than a few episodes or have minor roles, all leading characters in Zeta Gundam change, and change dramtically. While they don't always change for the best, the changes do lend an edge to their personalities. Anyone can make a cardboard cutouts, but Zeta Gundam manages to make dynamic people.

Finally, Zeta Gundam is not a show for the faint of heart, emotions run high and people you've come to love or hate will die. They die often enough to keep you perpetually anxious over who's going to die next, but they die infrequently enough to allow the viewer to come to know the character and to prevent them from becoming desensitized to their deaths, a good example of this is the character Jerid. While there are mobile suits that make minor appearences yet look really cool, Zeta Gundam's focus is not on Mobile Suits but on the personal conflicts between characters.

With all the praise that I've given to Zeta Gundam there is still one thing that urked me besides the music, which is its conclusion. Zeta Gundam builds up all this steam to create what seems like a grand finale fitting for any space opera, but uses up all its steam on the final space battle leaving no time for reflection and a bitter viewer.

All in all, Zeta Gundam is a good series. It contains a great plot, good animation, great characters and some funky MS to boot, but just doesn't feel as conclusive as it should. I highly recommend this to anyone who has seen Gundam and hasn't seen Zeta yet or to anyone who isn't into Gundam but is looking for a deep series, then give Zeta Gundam a shot.

Space Pirate Captain Herlock: Outside Legend - The Endless Odyssey 9/10

Space Pirate Captain Herlock: Outside Legend - The Endless Odyssey is a timeless adventure that expands across the reaches of the galaxy, along with its memorable characters, beautiful art work, and a nice jazzy sound track, which make the Herlock experience all the more thrilling.

The only thing that kept this grand adventure from sailing as smoothly as it could of is its plot. It just never clicked with me.

Fortunatly Zeta Gundam does require some knowledge of the orginal.

Is that supposed to be unfortunatly Zeta Gundam does require some knowledge of the orginal, or is it supposed to be fortunatly Zeta Gundam does [b]not require some knowledge of the original?

The statement as it is doesn't make sense.

Street Fighter Alpha/Zero/Whatever: 6/10

Seeing all my favourite Street Fighter characters in animated form in animated fight screnes rocked hard!!1! Chun-Li is bada$$!

* coughs

Erm, 'scuse me.

Game-to-anime movies make notoriously bad anime, so I really wasn't expecting much going in, however the first half hour had me thinking I'd stumbled across a hidden gem. The initial story set-up was admirable and had a cool balance of comedy and action, the fight scenes were coreographed very well, and the pacing was perfect. Then from about one third of the way through it stalled, stopped and outwright broke down. The pacing went to a grinding hault, plot holes surfaced and it proceeded to ram itself up it's own arse with the "dark hadou" plot device. I grew up playing Street Fighter so I really wanted to like this movie, and I really wanted it not to be completely average, but the bottom line is, it was. Although the closing credits did save face a little by having Chun-Li beat the holy hell out of some criminals which I proclaim to be made out of win and own!!!1!

Ghost in the Shell: 7.1/10

So, how many years have I been an anime fan and yet I've only just watched it's most famous title now? Yeesh! One of the reasons why I put it off for so long was because it just looked like the kind on anime I would hate. I got the feeling that it would be all eye candy and trite philosophizing from bland characters, and you know what? I was right!

Two-twenty: 1; Anime: 0.

But what saved it from being complete trash is the story was quite intriguing and it must of been pretty innovative for it's time, but it means nothing when the characters get the backseat. If I don't give a rats about them, it's all for nothing, and for a movie based around the existence of soul, they all seemed rather, well, soulless. In the end it feels like this anime's potential was to big to fit into only one movie. I'm looking forward to watching the television series.

Rumbling Hearts

Considered by many as one of the most poignant anime available, Rumbling Hearts (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2570) is a realistic love story filled with a gamut of emotions. Although the premise is relatively unoriginal within soap opera circles, the characters are mundane, and the story is excrutiatingly slow, the anime has its merits because... err... because... other anime sites say it is so!

It had plenty of action with a compeling story and it was amusing seeing some of the old characters from the anime series shown with a different style to them, but i can't help feeling a bit dissapointed by how some of the characters ended up, it just seemed so convenient, and specially how thinks ended up between Edward and Winry. Despite its flaws it was still an enjoyable movie but it just feels like it doesnt quite give the FMA anime the satisfying conclusion it should have had.

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu: 8 A pure comedy series, focusing purely on the comedy aspects of the Full Metal Panic! that were cut from the anime series, and it's worth every penny. The first half is a little slow, but the last half is made of win and gold, as the current trend names it.

The comedy does come at a price, though. All sense of character development is frozen in time, but that didn't bother too much as I knew what to expect in that regard. What did bother me is that a certain situation was continued from the series, and nothing came of it, which was disappointing. Overall very funny even if you haven't seen the series, but even more so if you have.

Midori no Hibi: 7 Cute is the best I can describe this series. It tries to be an oddball romance, but it didn't quite make it in my eyes. Perhaps due to it's rather episodic nature, it didn't flow as well as it could have. In the end, I couldn't see the real point to the reason she became his right hand.

Still, it was amusing watching the interactions between the characters, and the premise to the show is rather original, so it wins points in that regard. There is some attempt at character development, whilst not great, it's a better effort than some shows.

Rating on the animation alone, I would have given it a 10. But I found some of the character development a little lacking. The plot/story was certainly interesting, and I like watching an anime that really makes you think. But I think there should have been a little more information in some parts.

Gundam SEED - 8/10

In comparison to the other Gundam series I've seen (granted, I've seen very few), I enjoyed this one more than most. I thought the characters were developed fairly well, but I found the ending lacking at the end. Animation was pretty good, certainly not the best I have seen though.

I never thought I'd come to watch this series, but I succumbed and watched it.

Wedding Peach (1st Season --> Episodes 1-27) 8.3/10: First off, it was not as bad as I expected it to be, it was quite better than I ever thought from a shojo series made shortly after the sailor moon series. One of the three main characters, Momoko, Yuri, or Hinagiku is able to relate in a sense to a girl's personality. One being a regular down to earth girl, who has her ditzy, a girl who's a complete proper lady and loves clothes, make-up, boys, etc. and a tomboy who's into sports and has that deep something about her that she hides from others. There are plenty of re-used cels in this series, but what anime made back in the middle 90's doesn't have that? The characters are enjoyable and the show as a whole is light fun, with it's romantic and deep moments here and there. Definitely a series that is overlooked and should be looked into more than pushed aside. I'm looking forward to seeing the second season of the series.

Naruto: Epsisodes 20-51 (Chunin preliminaries)- 7.9/10

I found this anime is kind of comparable to His and Her Circumstances in a way. Obviously not with content, but in how the anime can have some of the best moments (in this case, fight scenes) but alot of frustration in the middle. I loved some of the fight scenes and the character development that went with them, but it was dragged out so much that at one point it damn near had me yelling "GET ON WITH IT" at the screen. But when it did, my God did it deliver. My favourite fights were:

Gaara vs. Rock Lee
Neiji vs. Hinata
That sand chick vs. Tenten

Some of the opening and ending thems were great two. I'll proabably scope out a full version of the second OP.

But it has a few really annoying faults:

Most of the expository dialogue is far too hammy and unnatural. Any good writer will tell you that it's better to "show" and not "tell" and Naruto does far too much telling.

Sakura is freaking useless. She better get alot stronger soon because all of this "Chakra control " stuff doesn't mean shit when she doesn't have Naruto or Sasuke backing her up.

Sasuke. He is a terrible character. I don't like him, I don't like to hate him and when he was taken out of the plot for a while I found I liked the show alot more. He's a jerk, his unentertaining angsting dominates too much and it is completely lost on me why Naruto would have respect for him or why Sakura would like him for any reason below shallow good-look swooning.

Mermaid Forest - 7.5

It's a good show, but it's to repetitive... It seemed unrealistic too, how they kept running into mermaid like encounters. What I really wanted from this show (and didn’t get) was some romance between the two main characters! Hell, I’d have settle for some more character development for either character too.

Kare Kano - 9/10 ... didnt like the way it ends...
Chobits - 8/10 ... maybe if the first few episodes where just as exciting as the its end... it would be very good...
Full Metal Panic(all 3 series) - 9.2/10 ...some how i like selected episodes of fumuffo... and there is still a room for another series...
Shuffle! 10/10 ... i recommend this one (WATCH IT!)

Gunslinger Girl - 7.0
It has some nice interactions and introspections, given the girls situation. It doesn't really have an ending as such, and thus doesn't really feel completely satisfying. I'm sure if I was more of a gun freak I'd give it more too.

XXXHolic Manatsu no Yoru no Yume/A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1-hour movie, for direct TV broadcast)

*News Flash* Tim Burton meets Studio 4C's experimental short films!

Or something like that. Eye-candy lovers rejoice! This movie looks INCREDIBLE, and it will remind some from the use of patterns ala Gankutsuou, only here they are used in the scenary, such as roofs, walls, floors, everything except the characters. Production I.G. did not waste their budget on this one, even after seeing this about a day ago I'm still drooling overit's visuals.

And it has a plot. Sort of. And the characters are interesting, but only if you have read at least the first volume of the manga. Otherwise they are just card-board thick ones and their antics will have little impact on the viewer.

Let's try an make this look more coherent:

This movie is a one-hour trailer for the soon-to-come xxxHolic TV series, and for the manga. A beautiful one-hour trailer. With a fun story, though a bit too farfetched at times, this was one-hour of solid entertainment value; just not expect much from the characters, or the music for that matter (almost non-existant with the exception of the ending credits song). The character designs are taken straight from the manga (this includes the man-hands, the stick-like bodies, the unproportioned heads, and anime's longest cleveage line ever). In other words, watch this is you liked/are following the manga, or if you want an extended preview of what the TV series could offer in April.

To me this was a solid 8/10, but I knew the characters from the manga, so lower 2 points from it if you haven't read any of it.

Princess Arete - 7/10

A nice movie, which was made to look and feel like a Studio Ghibli film. I believe some of the same people at Ghibli did actually work on this film. An interesting story, however it drags a lot throughout the whole story and becomes very uniteresting. The animation is done very well and the story is kind of interesting, but you begin to lose interest after a while. Considering it is kind of long for an anime movie maybe it would have been better if it was a little shorter.

Osamu Tezuka's Experiments- the creator of such films as Metropolis and the Astro Boy series and many more These short films were all made when he was first starting out in 1962.
Male - 6.5/10 very short only two minutes and doesn't make any sense. Just an experimental.
Mermiad - 7.0/10 another very short film only about 8 minutes, but it does show some interesting things about it. A little story about a boy who dreams about a fish being a mermaid and there being consequences of his actions. You begin to sympathize with him as the story moves along, so it somewhat pulls you in.
Tales of a Streetcorner - 7.5/10 the longest of these three and probably the best. It is silent like all the other ones except for male I believe. However the music plays a very big role in bringing this short film to life. An interesting story and it turns out to be not what you think. I don't want to give too much away, but it's worth watching. One of the themes pplayed is very repititious so it can get a little annoying.

can't rember if i gave ratings for witch hunter robin or noir...hmmmm anyways..i may be doing this prematuraley considering ive only seen the first eppy but ELFEN LIED 1O OUT 10...ohhhhhh the bloodshed...i dont know other then the first ten minutes being the most gory bloodiest thing i ve ever seen and making the horror fan in me sing for joy..i am very intriqued by this show...i am sensing that their is more to the story thing just the blood shed so yes i may come back and change my rating but for now this show is bloody amazing..

okay witch hunter robin 7.5/10 i am intriqued i like the pace of the stories and the charcters are cool but i am assuming that the love plot that they are going here with this is well so obvious and well drawn with conflict that even though i find myself drawn to it and wanting to watch more i am also complelty annoyed cus well its soo darn obivious..

NOIR like ELFEN LIED ive only watched a little bit of this but i am very excited bout this it is soooooo cool....i think the two women kick serious butt...and the charcter and art desighns are really beautiuful i am also very intriqued by the story... 9/10 AWSOME..

mermaid forest... 7/10 well i ve watched the first two volumes and i got say i liked this one too but one constant question keeps comming up...what is wrong with these ppl do they not realise (at least in this series) that mermaids are living breathing beautiful (kind of) creatures...STOP trying to eat them..jesh...but i like the conflict of the main chacters and the stories are intresting...but i like i said before stop trying to eat the poor mermaids..

Finished the King of Fighters: Another Day little OVA or whatever you call that. I mean I don't know how I would rate something thats barely 10 mins long, but I guess I would give it a 7.5. It has great visuals and fight scenes, but nothing goes on thats all its for someone said promotional purposes for the new game coming out and I agree. Also saw two OVA's by Studio 4C, Comedy which was very good. Dark, but good. I'd give it an 8. And the other is Digital Juice . Six shorts compiled into one. It's very weird and the shorts are too short. Some are interesting and well drawn and some are just plain bizzare. I'd give it a 7 because of the weirdness, but interesting choices of animation are done.

Violinist of Hamelin 9/10 forgiving the overuse of still shots this is one of the best fanasty anime that I have seen, much better than Ecaflowne IMO
Violinist of Hamelin movie 8.5- This is the total opposite of the series, that is why I liked it so much, too bad it was only half an hour. I could have gone for a 13 episode run set in an alternate universe.
AIR movie 8.5 there were things that I felt were done right in the movie that weren't done in the series although the series was better

Monster

10/10

Easily the best anime I've ever seen, and bumping off my long-time favorite, Rurouni Kenshin Tsuiokuhen. I went into this not expecting anything, because I knew nothing of it; I was going entirely by the recommendation of someone I met online. The show started a bit slowly, but it quickly picked up the pace, with a great atmosphere, believable characters, a stunningly good plot, and my favorite villain.

Gungrave

5/10

It wasn't bad, but I couldn't enjoy it, either. I was on the verge of actually liking Brandon multiple times, but I never really reached that point. The ending felt depressing and made everything that happened seem so senseless. In a sense, it was, but I wasn't able to enjoy it.

Harry felt terrible as a villain. I couldn't sympathize with him, and his motives felt a bit thin. I suppose I simply haven't felt greed great enough. But at least he had understandable motives; Balladbird Lee and Bob Poundmax were just... terrible.

The whole story in the second half, actually, wasn't enjoyable. The only character I liked to a certain degree was Brandon in the first half.

That said, I can still see how people might enjoy it... Just not my cup of tea.

Yakitate Japan: Episodes 1-27 (Entrance Exam & Rookie Tournament arcs)- 9/10

Move over Azumanga Daioh, we have a new champion of comedy. Move over Excel Saga, we have a new champion of parodies. Move over Fist of the North Star, we have a new champion of cheezy battles!

This show really has an amzing ability to shamelessly and ruthlessly take the piss, yet (unlike some other parody shows) still retain credibility at the character/story levels. Not only that, the creators must've done their research because the depth of knowledge in food sciences the writers seem to have is nothing short of astonishing. It takes alot for me to like an anime comedy, and this one delivers in spades.

I. Love. This. Show.

Wolf's Rain: 8/10 - Even though the ending was horrible (for the main series), as well as there being four recap episodes and the ending for the four OVAs being extremely depressing, I still really enjoyed the series. I also admit, the story was pretty confusing at times, but a few things really made the anime special to me. The characters were very well done (except for Kiba and Cheza, who weren't that interesting). The art and animation were very high quality, as well as the soundtrack. This had one of the best soundtracks I've heard in ages. Finally, the concept was original to me. I liked how they implemented animals as main characters, and seeing how they could change forms in the eyes of humans was interesting.

Samurai 7: 9/10 - I found this anime to be more rewarding. There were an assortment of interesting characters, and there was honestly not one samurai of the seven that I didnt like. It also had good art and animation, and it's soundtrack was memorable. Plus, it had a great story and great ending (despite being very depressing). The only flaw it contained was that the story could move along very slow at a few points.

Samurai Deeper Kyo: 5/10 - Barely satisfying at all. The characters, plot, art, animation and music were all substandard. The whole thing just made me think "meh...". The only satisying things were a few slightly interesting characters, and finding out the secret between Kyo and Kyoshiro. Otherwise, it's a good idea to pass on this anime. There are much better samurai animes than this (ex. Kenshin, Samurai 7, Samurai Champloo).

Monster- 9.3 The strongest element in this series is the story. To have so many complicated characters that are not boring and have everything to do with the plot. This anime is a true master piece. I would have to say the down side is that there are too many characters and that many episodes don't even have Dr. Tenma in it. even though I enjoyed those episodes almost as much as the other ones.

Naruto: Episdoes 51-80, Chunin exam finals and the invasion of Konoha- 9/10

Now it's getting into the swing of things! The invasion of Konoha really had a tense 'shit-hits-the-fan' feel to it, and the monologuing that plauged earlier episdoes wasn't nearly as blatent (bar Neiji in the chunin exams). I really liked the theme of this arc too; fighting for others and your heritage instead of yourself. It was done brilliantly without ever being over the top. On that note, it's good to see reference to the Wave Country arc as well. It's always been a pet peeve of mine when longer running shows completely forget about the effect situations from arcs past have had on the main characters, but showing that words Haku said to Naruto still had an influence on him after so much time really made the first arc seem that much more important.

What'll probably end up being one of the bigger flaws of Naruto is how irritating the initial main character set-up was (Naruto=annoying, Sasuke= angsty & selfish, Sakura=useless). While it seems now that it was imperative for character growth, if it wasn't for Gaara/Rock-Lee I would've given up on the series ages ago. It's taken it's damn time, but after 80 episodes Naruto, Sakura and even Sasuke have grown on me.

Now, only 55 more episdoes until the filler. Hooray.

Definately one of my favorite shows yet. The end wasn't the best but it still followed through with the show. the show really teaches you about life, more than I thought it would and friendship. Great Teacher Onizuka: 9.3/10

This has been one of the best animes I've completed in a long time. I'm normally a fan of shonen anime, so I don't really take the chance to dive into anime that doesn't rely on action as it's main characteristic. GTO is moreso a drama/comedy, and is the most humourous anime I've ever come by. Onizuka is just filled with life and energy, and the situations (big or small) that he gets himself into, are just so entertaining, that I had to find as many episodes as quickly as I could, just so I could see what happens next, and what kinds of crazy crap Onizuka will get into. It also does a great job at developing the characters (teachers and students), has a great first opening theme, and delivers some good messages. Overall, Onizuka is literally the kind of teacher that just about any student wishes they had.

I'd review Kenshin right now, since I just got to the filler arc, but I think I'll just watch the rest anyways, for the heck of it.

Kimagure Orange Road-9.4 I wasn't expecting this show to be that good. With each episode making the love triangle stronger. Episode 43 where they start their band was an interesting digression. For me this series was good but after 25 the plot takes off and becomes excellent.
Kimagure Orange Road I want to Return to That Day- 10 If there was ever a heart wrenching romance that ended better than this series please let me know. I knew Hikaru was going to get the short end of the stick here but severing all contact with her was just so cruel, but I understood that if Kyosuke didn't do it then more misinterpretations of love will come up complicating his relationship with Madoka. I thought it was strange though that in the tv series Kyosuke confessed his love to Madoka at episode 48 which will put them in their last year of junior high school, but the movie takes place 2-3 years after the tv series. So my question is what happened in those 2-3 years, did Madoka go to America then her relationship with Kyosuke was put on hold?

Naruto (Movie 1): A Rank Mission! Protect the Snow Princess!- 7/10

Meh, while it's great to see Naruto with movie-like animation, I can't help but feel a little let down. My main gripe is that it still has the same old 'telling' rather then 'showing' Naruto brand of monologuing and I'm just getting tired of it. If you're already into Naruto then the themes of this movie will come off hackneyed as they've already been portrayed with alot more depth in the TV series. If you aren't already into Naruto, my guess is you will be lost as to exactly who these people are, where are they pulling these powers from, and why Sasuke just turned into a wood heater. I'm disappointed that it used pretty much the same soundtrack as the TV series too.

But, I'm doing far too much bitching. The story was okay, the fight scens were as cool as one would expect, the comedy moments were great, and I've been itching to see Sakura kick some arse ever since I started watching Naruto.

Howls Moving Castle: 8 Another decent movie from Studio Ghibli. Well worth the watch. I loved the setting, and the animation and background still were absolutely amazing. There was quite a bit of witty humour sprinkled, something that I haven't noticed in......any of Miyazaki's movies that I can remember, and that was a pleasent surprise.

Still, I couldn't help but notice that Sophie's character design is awfully similar to Nausicaa, Mononoke, Laputa etc. and old Sophie looks very much like Yubaba from Spirited away.

There was something lacking in the character's relationships, particularly between Howl and Sophie, it didn't seem all that genuine.

All in all, those were the only real bad points I could find in this film.

Berserk - 10/10

Really a magnificent anime. The artwork took a bit of getting used to, but after that it was smooth sailing. All three main characters were likable, my favorite being Griffith. :D

The ending was perfect; I loved the turn of events that took place in the last couple of episodes. I won't spoil it for anyone, so all I'll say is that most people see it as a love it or hate it ending... but if you hate it I'll hunt you down and murder you. >:(

It's a great anime to watch. Unfortunately, I get rid of the nagging feeling that the entertainment value of this show was not as the creators intended but derived from my enjoyment of camp. It's great to see the collection of cheap animation ploys used in this show, such as substituting sound effects and line stills for almost every fight scene; showing the back of a character's head or just his eyes to avoid having to animate the mouth; or, even better, just not animating the mouth at all. The shots dedicated to showing a character's shock at a epiphany are generously spread throughout the show, always accompanied by melodramatic reflections that accentuates the humor.

On Your Mark- 8.9/10

A day when I see another Ghibli film is always a good day. Even though it was only 6 minutes long it retained all the magic one comes to expect from earlier Ghibli films. Music videos with stories are easy to stuff up given the amount of time and lack of dialouge, but On Your Mark never seems rushed or underdeveloped. In this way I actually think, as a whole, it was better then Howl's Moving Castle. Even though the song wasn't really my cup of tea, it was nice enough, but it still seemed like it was better suited to just being background music. At the end of the day though, Ghibli = happiness for Two-twenty. Hooray! :D

Infinite Ryvius- 9.3 this would have been higher if there wasn't so much techno babble if they even explained why they needed to makes solids I would be happy, I can only guess that it would be similar to computer programming but I don't know **** about that.
Le Portrait de Petit Cossette-8.5 more style over substance good thing there was only 3 episodes to watch but not a bad anime, and buckets of blood remnds me of B horror movies.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - 7.5/10

I have never seen the original OVA/Movie whatever you want to call it. This movie was very well done. However considering it was made in the past few years, the quality sometimes looks outdated. Good action, not too great of a story, but there is one. I guess overall it's worth watching once.

Stellvia of the Universe - 8.5/10. This is a very flawed anime in some regards, but it has a mysteriously high likeability factor to me. For some reason I find myself excusing and ignoring many of its shortcomings because I just want to. Definitely a substance-over-style show; if a few characters were handled better I'd be rating it over a 9.

Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conquerer of Shambala - 7/10. This is hard for me to grade. I'm a fan of the FMA franchise and I can't fault the movie on storytelling grounds, but I don't like the overall direction being taken at this point in the franchise. It's a continuation of the FMA TV series and as such, if you haven't seen that (and especially not the ending), odds are you won't get everything in the movie. Technically, it's excellent - art, animation, and sound were what I'd expect from an FMA movie.

Serial Experiments: Lain - 5/10. I came to Lain knowing that it was flawed and having lowered expectations, but I was still disappointed by it. The animation is bargain basement, the characters aren't big enough for their roles, and the beginning third may be a workable cure for insomnia.

I feel the same way Berserk-10 however the ending had me reading the manga from volume 13. As of right now it is up to volume 29, so there is more than enough to make a sequel. I loved the ending but I cannot fathom anyone that liked the anime not wanting to find out what happens next.

Ghost in the Shell: Innocence: 7

Not a bad film by all accounts, indeed it has sweet, sweet visuals. But I think it suffered very much the same thing that plagued it's predecessor: The dribbling psycho-babble. There are numerous quotes from literary texts, and at times followed on one after another, in such a fashion that at times I was thinking 'didn't they have time to finish the script?'

The story itself was interesting, but I think it wasn't put together to well, 2/3 of the way in I was going 'WTF is going on here?'. Still, overall it's an interesting watch.

I have noticed that I tend to rant on about the bad points in a film, no matter how much I liked it. I've not been quite sure as to why, but I think it goes like this: The more I bag a film, the more I liked it, or saw great potential in it. Of course there is the possibility that it's just a bad film, but I'll usually saw so it if that's the case.

Naruto-[B]8- I have barely started whatching it. I didn't watch it before because of all the Narutards and everyone always talking about it. Just kinda made me not want to watch it. I have seen a couple of episodes so far and it has not failed to entertain me.

[B]Ai Yori Aoshi-7- I read the manga and so I wanted to watch the anime, the anime is still funny but not as great as the manga I suppose. Then again that tends to happen a lot. Still enjoyable though, with all the boob grabbing and peeping Tom thing going on.

Bleach-9- This is another anime that I have recently started. I find it action packed, and packed with laughs. I can only hope that it gets better.

Honey and Clover: 8.5

I have to say I really, really like this show. The scenario was so....different from most other shows, the closest I can compare it to is a more mature Azumanga Daioh. The character designs were pretty darn good (Hagu is adorable!), though the mouths can look a bit weird at times.

The music was spot on, although using a real piano instead of a synth one would have made it even better (synth pianos drive me up the wall, they just don't have that real piano rawness), and both the OP and ED themes were interesting and catchy.

The story progressed, perhaps a little too slowly at times, but otherwise at a nice pace, and it was a rather believable story at that. I found the comedy to be funny and appropriate.

While the story itself progresses nicely, the actual depiction of the passage of time doesn't come across so well. There were some times where I went 'whoa, this epsiode 6 months later? When did that happen?', so it can get a little confusing at times. Also, the situation between Hagu and Takemoto isn't resolved (it progresses, but not resolved), and that is one of the things that is introduced at the start. But the way the show ended felt very much like 'sequel!', and I do believe the Good Doctor Soundchazer has mentioned that a second season is in the works, so that doesn't hurt it so much.

Overall, and awesome show, but for those who don't like slow paced drama, perhaps give it a miss.

Title: RahXephon
Rated: 9.7/10.00
Rant: I decided to watch this series because it's been compared to Evangelion countless times and has recieved many positive reviews. Frankly, I was generally very happy with it, but the end looked a little...clustered. The character design was wonderful, and I thought the BGM music fit perfectly. The dynamics of the plot and the character development were fantastic too.

As for in comparison to Evangelion, I have only seen about 6 or 7 scattered episodes of it and I must say they are VERY similar. I think the only main difference is that whereas Evangelion gets very psycho, RahXephon stays a little more...sane. Oh, and Ayato is not nearly as annoying as Shinji.

From the little Evangelion I have seen, and the RahXephon I have finished, RahXephon is currently my favorite. But I highly recommend both and in fact, encourage you to watch them as a pair.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: 8.9/10

I thought the universe created in the original Ghost in the Shell was far too large in scope for only a movie. Stand Alone Complex gives it some much needed extrapolation. Character's personalities were fleshed out much better (albeit, not as many/much as I had hoped) as was the world in which they operate. The main story along with all the stand alone (huuurr!) episodes are all engrossing in their maturity and written very well with plenty of twists and turns. The movie-level visuals are jaw dropping with the Yokko Kano soundtrack adding that much more punch.

The first few episodes were a little dull though, as at that point they consisted of a story and nothing else, with no reason to really care what happens. It's best to just power through it. I also though the very last episode was far too boring given the tone of the few before it.

Naruto: Return of Itachi/Tsunade's decision/Unmask Kakashi/Tea Country Race/Sasuke Retreival Episodes 81-135: 9/10

I really love that this series has time enough to give depth to more than what is absolutly neccesary. It's what makes a series like Naruto great. So when things climax (shit hitting the fan, just like the Invasion of Konoha arc) it's much more riverting. The progression of these arcs, even the filler (bar that one unmasking Kakashi episode), really build the tension but not so much so it's blantent. The flashbacks and lulls in animation can be forgiven when it delivers a finale fight like Naruto vs. Sasuke, which is one of the best I've seen in anime.

The characters in this anime are it's ultimate strong point. Naruto's combination of iron will and extreme emotions make for great entertainment no matter what tone an episode may take on. New and background characters were given much needed development. I've also come full circle with Sasuke. At first I absolutly hated him, I didn't even like to hate him, but now I know why. It's because I never felt he was friendly enough to be friends with Naruto or an arse-hole enough to be a good antagonist. The Susuke retreival arc turns both of these on their heads and he's now one of my favourite characters in the series. Now, if only I could say the same for Sakura, who's still just as useless as ever. -_-

Another strong point about this series is it's music. It doesn't have a very large range of songs for it's length but they're used effectivly at just the right time.

Good show! But now onto the filler. Oh god. The filler.

Finally, completed a few series I had been collecting for a while.

Area 88: 7 An interesting series. The attention to detail paid to all the aircraft is superb (bar some interior shots, they can be a bit bland at times), and a rather interesting story.

It did contain a couple filler episodes that in a 13 episode series, is certainly unnecessary, and the conclusion was far too open ended for me. I would at least would have liked to see the ramifications the info Shinjou gave to Ryoko has on Kanzaki.

Still, overall an interesting way to spend a few hours.

Samurai Champloo: 6.5 Certainly a very stylish series. Very well choreographed fights, and quite interesting character designs (I still love Fuu).

Again, it had an interesting story, filled with political intrigue and personal revenge, but in this case, it was too little, too late. Everything comes to a head inthe last 3 episodes. There was certainly too much filler, which did hurt the story.

The filler did range from excellent to terrible, so it's a rather mixed bag in that respect.

overall, it is a fun and really slick samurai romp, but don't go in expecting much in ways of story.

Even though the fansubbers are not finished with this and a new line up is in its second week on the Noitamina line up Ayakashi gets a 9 for me. Some might find the art crude with different arcs its the story that is really enthralling, but when it comes to the last arc Baka Neko is when this series truly shines. The animation and story are truly outstanding. CG is used in one of the most flawless ways. Everything with the last arc is top notch. I just hope they come out before Honey & Clover second season comes out.

edit the fansubbers finished and did a great job at that!

I'm going to cheat because Hajime no Ippo is really long.

Episodes 1-40: ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. It's so addictive and funny, and just a joy to watch.

9.5, if only for a couple of slow/medium episodes.

Capeta: Episode 1-14 (All that is available translated): Just like Ippo except it's meant to appeal to a younger age group. The father-son story that's been developed in these episode is really touching, and I very rarely finish an episode without crying.

8.5 There are some slow bits. And some repititive bits as well. But the feel good overpowers these moments, and the end of 14 is AWESOME.

Also based on a game I believe. Also really short, like 23 mins. This one is from 2004, so I did expect something decent, but it really has no story or flashy graphics or anything. It tries to be funny, but its not, so just stay away from this one.

Peace Maker Kurogane - 8.0/10 (80%)

Now, the first thing you may ask, is why I gave an anime a rating of 80%, when it got a 68% in the library? Am I nuts? Well, to some I may be. However, I found this particular anime to have excellent characters, character development (and a realistic sense of character development at that), some truly tense moments, and overall, I just found it to be quite entertaining.

The only flaws that I have to give in this series, is that it starts off pretty slow (but after watching the anime, I find it necessary that it started off like that), and the side villains were pretty useless (I'm talking about the magic users and the clone from the clone episode). Still, I think Madoka had overrated the aspect of magic making the anime unrealistic. Yes, the magic and demons did make it unrealistic, but they only took up 2 or 3 episodes out of the whole batch of 24 episodes.

Personally, I found the character development to be surprisingly good. Tetsu, for example, appears to just be a boy who wants to join a clan to avenge his parents death. Usually, the stereotypical outcome for a situation like this, is for the main character to pick up a sword, get unusually strong, win tons of fights (or just about every fight), and either kill the one who murdered his parents, or gets him sent to jail, for the sake of justice. However, you hardly see Tetsu pick up a sword throughout the series, but it's actually a good thing. It strengthens his character, and shows that good characters (especially main ones) in action series, don't always have to be badass and all powerful.

I also found characters like Okita, Tatsu, Suzu, Susumu (or whatever the ninja's name is), Susumu's sister, Saya, and a few others to have fairly deep characters, and good reasons to do what they need to do. Many of them have significant impacts on each other, to strengten each others' characters.

The art and animation were fairly good, but the colours were pretty bland at some points. The music was average, and the humour was great at times. Despite any shortcomings, the anime left a larger impact on me than I thought. Even if the series doesn't deserve an 8 out of 10, at the absolute least, I believe it deserves a 7 out of 10.

Irresponsible Captain Tylor-8.8 If there was a word for this anime it would be fun. fun characters, there interactions and story. Basically my gripe is the same as Ender's in that there was potential for more, but all in all a good watch.

Mezzo DSA - 6.7/10. I'll admit up front I'm giving this title a couple bonus tenths-of-a-point because I am a big fan of cyberpunk, and I really like the extremely distopian "not that far in the future" world of Mezzo. However, overall the show doesn't deliver enough on the character end, each member of the cast is just playing a role that's required by the setting, like characters in an RPG. And the roles tend to be heavily cliched, too.

In many ways it also reminds me of Ghost in the Shell SAC with much lower production values, inferior action sequences, less talking, and a grittier setting.

I will recommend Mezzo DSA to fans of cyberpunk, but only if they are running low on other options. Mezzo DSA's plot and characters are extremely formulaic cyberpunk, to their detriment, but the world they inhabit is one of the better CP settings I've encountered.

Kasimasi ~Girl Meets Girl~ - 7/10. This show starts out with a lot of potential in the comedy and drama departments, then proceeds to waste most of it. The comedy's mindless, repetitive, and unfunny; and the drama happens to characters that it's hard to care about... except one. One character totally saves this show as a drama and makes it worth watching. It's a weak show, but still entertaining.

Eureka Seven: 9/10. (I've given up on that .X shit, just one number will do.)

A nice solid anime that delivers in all its expected areas. You got your comedies, your dramas, you get a couple of your actions. It was just good fun. And it never got too deep. I mean, at certain times it felt like it was trying, but the feeling never lasted too long. Also a good series in that the ending didn't absolutely blow.

And the character development was amazing.

All the characters have good rational reasons for the changes in their personalities. I think the best example of this would be Holland. By the end of the series, and with good reason, it's like he's a completely different person.

Perfect Blue - 4
Really, really disappointing. Boring, overwraught, and ultimately just plain stupid. Why this is rated so high in general absolutely baffles me. Even the animation wasn't particularly pretty.

I'm really glad that I didn't buy it. >.>

Naruto Movie 2 - 7.5/10

I knowe theres already a thread about this, but what the heck. I watched it the other day. I did like the first movie better. The animation was good and it was an alright story, but not a great plot. Still fun to watch though. Very actiony.

Rurouni Kenshin + Samurai X: Trust, Betrayal & Reflections, plus the Samurai X Movie - 8.5/10.

This was definately an enjoyable series. Especially when I watched it in order. It kicks off into high gear when you watch Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal. A very well crafted story that gets you emotionally attatched, with beautiful animation, art, and music. The only problem is that the characters are a little dull, which is where the TV show excels. At first, I didn't care for the characters as much in the first 15 or so episodes. Mainly because I found everyone other than Kenshin (espcially Kaoru and Yahiko) pretty annoying. However, as the series went on, I became to generally care about the characters. The whole cast just bursts with personality until the end of the Kyoto arc. I also enjoyed the art style even more, since I was attracted to the more vibrant colours and simpler style. Anyways, once the kyoto arc ended, the series started to slow down. Still, the characters kept me hooked, even though the stories werent as good. Finally, Samurai X: Reflections was the worst one out of the bunch, but did provide some great bits of story, as well as some horrible ones. I did like that Kaoru and Kenshin got together (trust me, I'm not spoiling much, since the first episode, you figured that they would someday), as well as seeing all the characters age, and seeing Kenshin find his form of happiness at the very end. However, the ending dissapointed me at the same time, as well as some of the elements that lead to it's progression, such as Kenshin being such a weaker minded and bodied person than his former self.

All in all, I would really recommend this anime to anyone who likes a good action series, with healthy doses of character development, and a great plot in the middle.

Oh, and the library made a bit of a typo. The Rurouni Kenshin TV series is really 95 episodes, for anyone who would really like to know. Not 94 episodes.

Silent Mobius Movie 1 - 2/10. Confusing flashback-heavy storytelling, characters are all either empty suits or unlikeable, badly written dialogue that's overacted by the seiyuu, off-putting character design, mediocre animation, forgettable music, no background on the setting, meaningless ending... I can't think of anything particularly good about this, to be frank.

Silent Mobius Movie 2 - 1/10. Everything that's wrong with the first one, and more. The ending's even worse, the story is still mostly-flashback, the characters are still unlikeable with badly written dialogue that's still being over-acted. And the villains are just mailing it in.

The Twelve Kingdoms- 9, I wish this series could have gone on for another 45 episodes because there was enough story for it. A wonderful world with excellent characters and their arcs. The beginning was slow because of Youko's character change, but it was needed for the realism in this series. The ending was open ended, and I can see why they did it. This story is about a different world with its own myths, history and language. Youko is just a small part of it.
Rec- 7.9 if you really care what I think about this show just read the Rec thread

Eureka 7: 9
That was well worth it. Solid mechs, solid plot, verrrrrry good characters and just so damn original (in a sense).

The Prince of Tennis: The National Championship: 5
Seriously. The first episode was so rushed, it wasn't even freakin funny.

The Prince of Tennis: The Two Samurai, the First Game (Movie): 3
HORRRRRRIBLE. What kind of freaky-ass tennis what THAT?! Seriously, the original series DID get a little out of hand at the end with the special moves, but this is freakin ridiculous.

Finished up quite a few series at about the same time.
Maison Ikkoku 10/10
Perhaps the most honest, most mature, and most heartfelt romance anime I've seen. The only others that come close are Honey & Clover and Kimagure Orange Road.
Kimagure Orange Road 9/10
See above. I think KOR is a little less heartfelt than Maison Ikkoku, but KOR makes up for that by being a little funnier in some spots.
Crest of the Stars 9/10
I am a big fan of classic Science Fiction, and Crest of the Stars and Banner of the Stars really do the genre well. The characters are presented maturley and the battles and fight scenes were top notch. The only problem was that some of the on planet action scenes were a bit unrealistic (IE two teenagers managing to outrun and not get shot by a whole squadren of trained marines.)
Banner of the Stars 9/10
See above
Midori no Hibi 7/10
Typical shounen romance, the novelty of the main characters right hand being his love interest wore thin with me after a few episodes.

Martian Successor Nadesico: 8.8/10
A very enjoyable anime! Great comedy and parodies of animes past along with likeable characters. A fun ride for just about anyone!

Bobobo-bo Bobobo (or however the hell it's spelled):4.4/10
Well...at least the opening theme is catchy. It's a shame that just about nothing else about this anime is (at least to me).

Divergence Eve and Misaki Chronicles:2.3/10
Oh my...these two anime give Gravion a run for its money on the mediocrity scale for Sci-Fi anime. Incomprehendable tech jargon+poor animation+uber fan service=horrible anime and sequel.

GitS 2nd GIG 9.2- IMO I honestly liked this more than SAC. Not that I don't love SAC, but 2nd GIG has less episodes that are standalones and even more background info on most of the characters at Section 9. This series also takes on bold themes that I find very insightful.

I really loved the ending with the Tachikomas singing a childrens song before their AI is destroyed
She and Her Cat: Their Standing Points-8
DaiconIII,DaiconIV-8 before there was Interstella 5555 there was Daicon, I thought the OP for Densha Otoko did this piece justice and a good redux too.

3 Tezuka shorts that I found pleasing and very short to watch
Male-8 the only way I can describe this is if you gave the cat from She and Her Cat: Their Standing Points and gave him acid you would get this.
Memory-8.5 reminds me of the best of cartoons Chuck Avery did.
Mermaid-9 is simply breath taking. If you can get past the animation style there is a lot of heart to this short piece. First love and childhood intuitive insight vs adult practicality.

You should watch Tales of a Streetcorner its also a Osamu short, but its actually like 30 mins or 40 mins, its good and well done for a 60s film. Also I recently watched Drop, which is an Osamu short, but it was pretty silly.

Read or Die - 9/10

Wonderful anime. The character designes were very unique. The 3 OAVs were perfect lenght for the story to be told. Very high production values and excellent music. I can't really say more about it right now, I need to give it another viewing or two. Highly recommended, but I'm sure most of you guys have seen it already :hyper:

Gunsmith Cats: 8.4
For such a short OVA, this anime packs a nice punch. The addition of the Shelby Cobra doesn't hurt either ^_^

Darkness Blues: 4.9
Darkness tries, but fails miserably. The story has premise; it's just too bad that everything else couldn't follow up on it.

Yuu Yuu Hakusho: 8
Everything DBZ wished it could be and then some, and only half as long too!

IGPX Season 1: 9
This one threw me for a loop. I wasn't expecting to be drawn into this anime as much as I am now. Although a tad on the formuatic side, I'm really into this anime. Now that Season 2 is underway, it's time for Team Satomi to put its newfound reputation to the test!

Black Cat - 5/10
Mediocre series through and through. A few entertaining episodes here and there, but generally predictable and corny. Action scenes were interesting, but animation wasn't always that great. Plot was littered with holes. Comedy was attempted, but most often fell short.

Shakugan no Shana - 7/10
Fun series that gets better as it goes along. Characters become less annoying and eventually develop into the meat of the show. Action was fun to watch, and animation were pretty solid and consistent throughout. I'd recommend this to those who are looking for an action filled adventure with a love triangle on the side. Shana + melonpan = too cute.

Now and Then, Here and There - 9/10
After the first episode, I had a few misgivings, but luckily I stuck around for this home run series. The characters are completely relatable. There are the good guys who are really likable, there are the bad guys that are really detestable, and then there are the guys in the grey area who you can't help but root for. They don't always make the right decisions, but you still sympathize for them nevertheless. Definetly recommended for anyone looking for a compelling story filled with interesting characters and a fair share of action.

I had so much fun marathoning this series untill the last 3 episodes. It's was kinda a "WTF?!?!" moment. There should have been at least 10-15 more episodes. They just ended where they should pick back up from the beginning. That was almost as bad as the Candidate for Goddess ending.

Just finished marathoning it. Love this series. I expected it to be a mindless fighting thing, like Naruto, but it was so much more. Animation and characters perfect. Music, excellent. Points lost for the strange earth connection at the end, which I felt was a little out of place.

Howls Moving Castle: 8.5/10 This movie was definitely a pleasant watch, the main character Sophie is very likeable, Ghibli does outstanding work once again on the designs and landscapes, and the storyline pretty much flows nicely in the beginning. The storyline, however, seemed to go everywhere at one time, trying to do too much in a small amount of time by throwing all these plot twists together right at the end. I would've liked some more closure, something else besides a hello and a goodbye or a quick glimpse at a happy ending. The music as well was not very memorable, the ending song was just 'eh' at best, though some of the light instrumental music was pleasant listening to that. Overall it is a good movie, and Howl is just plain adorable, something to at least watch once.

Scrapped Princess - 6.8/10. The first half is quite good as a dark fantasy story, but the second half nose-dives due to the introduction of advanced technologies and mecha. The mecha in particular annoyed me, their designs were pedestrian and the action sequences involving them were equally unexciting. Lack of character backgrounds for Shannon and Raquel, and even Pacifica, do a lot to hurt the series as well... but IMO, the fatal flaw is the mecha.

I know I already made one, but my opinions are in a constant state of flux.

Bebop-9-Just great. Makes a 9 on soundtrack alone.

FMA-9 only because of the kickass second half.

Haibane Renmei-8.5 impressive, but a few quibbles drop it a notch. Great music.

Gunslinger Girl-8 I really still have no idea what to think of this show (which somehow led to my buying it on DVD), but I guess it deserves an 8 just for being different.

Hellsing-5 a mediocre show

Elfen Lied-4 a terrible show

Serial Experiments Lain-7 good. Nice creepy different psycho show that nevertheless doesn't accomplish anything really profound.

Azumanga-7 Excellent characters, but too inconsistent to be great.

Trigun-6.5 a good show. Too inconsistent.

FLCL-7 because of soundtrack and animation alone. Any longer and it would have dropped quickly.
