Okay, four of these aren't recent, but I love them and think they deserve really high grades so... I put them down anyways!

Aishiteruze Baby (Ep 1-7) - 8.5/10
This is SO CUTE!! I love the characters so much and it looks like the plot will get even better, so the grade will probably go up
Pretear - 8/10
I really don't have much to say. I have mixed feeling about this anime. I really love it, but I.. um.. don't? I'm not into the whole magical girl thing, but I love Pretear
Mai-HiME (Ep 1-11) - 9.5/10
This has to be somewhere in my top 5 anime of all time. I can't get enough of Mai-HiME. And.. I think its gonna get even better!
Bleach (Ep 1-6) - 8.8/10
I haven't really gotten into it yet, but within the past episode I'm starting to REALLY like it. I think I'm just in love with Kon, heh. He's hilarious! I really hope he doesn't get killed like all the characters except Ichigo want him too
Gravitation - 9.9/10
I cannot express my love for this anime enough. Its only a 9.9 because of.. well, the next anime
Fruits Basket - 10/10
My personal favorite anime. EVER. A second season better be made!
Kare Kano - 9.5/10
Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Not like Fruits Basket, but just, ah! I love it! Another second season anime I'm praying for.
X TV (Ep 1-4) - 8.5/10
So far its really good. I've seen the movie.. not exactly a light-hearted comedy is it? I just hope the ending to the series is even a TAD different then the movie.
Soukyuu no Fafner (Ep 1-3) - 7.5/10
Well, keeping in mind that I'm not really a mecha kinda girl... I'm not crazy about this anime. I like it when I watch it, but its not like I'm jumping up and down on the edge of my seat to see more like I presently am with Bleach, Aishiteruze Baby and Mai-HiME
Sailor Stars (Ep 1-4) - 7/10
This whole plot of this series is getting repetitive and predictable. Its still... okay, but once again, not jumping up and down on the edge of my seat to see more.
Weiss Kreuz OVA - 8/10
Didn't enjoy it as much as the series, but I was seriously freaking out when they were all killing each other. Now for Gluhen! ^_^!!

I'll probably be updating Sailor Stars, Fafner, X TV, Bleach, Mai-HiME, and Aishiteruze Baby in a few days. Plus I'll be downloading Digimon 02 (uncut and subbed), Saiyuki Movie Requiem, To Heart, W-Wish, and Melody of Obilivion

Have we had an influx of guests, or something? I haven't been able to log on for about 3 hours, something about too many connections......

In anycase, despite my wanting to watch lots, I have only had time to watch this:

Gungrave (eps. 1-4): 8.5 Overall, this has been a good experience. If you discount the fact that this has one of the most, well, cliche? maybe, first episodes ever......unimpressive at the least, but the next 3 made up for it.

I have started watching Astroboy (old skool), but I do not feel that it is fair for me to comment on it, there is a lot of nostalgia and emotion tied up in that one....so I love it to bits and find it difficult to cast a critical eye over it......

Hazah for two new anime started over Christmas.

Wolf's Rain: 8/10. I heard some pretty bad things about it ( I was never able to see it myself on tv) but I decided to buy it anyway and came out quite pleased. Good art, interesting story and with just the right amount of angst.

Peacemaker: 9/10. FUN. Studio Gonzo rocks my socks. Colourful, yet dark...if that makes any sense.

I can get kinda Charlie Brown (wishy washy) with my opinions and feelings with a series while I'm watching it, so I'll spare the ones I'm currently watching and just rate the ones I've recently finished.

Dead Leaves Vulgar and immature but very funky, fun and innovative. 8.5/10
Najica Blitz Tactics Fa-hooey! Even if I was into little white panties this would be beyond overkill, and it can't save a weak plot and paperdoll characters. Some neat action scenes though! 3/10
Tsukikage Ran Has charm to spare, so funny and so clever. It's a damn shame this series is only 13 episodes long. 9.5/10
Haibane-Renmei I love slowly paced, introspective series like this one is. So beautiful too, I only wish there was a bit more character development with a bit more of the characters. 9/10

Tsukuyomi Moon Phase 9/10 More people really should be watching this anime. If I hadn't stumbled upon this, i'm not sure if I would have even heard about it.

This anime is a vampire/comedy/romance. I suggest others watch this immediatly, its on par with bleach in my opinion

As everyone else seems to be rating anime they've only seen some of, I might as well join in.

Beck (Episodes 1-10) - 9/10
I think the review on Anime Fringe was a little harsh about the animation and character design. Despite its relatively slow pace, this is an anime far more concerned with plot and character development then big cliff-hanger moments. With its highly likeable characters and engrossing atmopshere, not to mention top-notch music this is an absolute must-see.

Bleach (Episodes 1-12) - 7/10
Despite starting off well, the anime of the sensational manga hasn't quite lived up to my expectations. The character designs somehow lack the uniqueness of the manga counterparts, and changing a few plot elements has managed to screw up the pacing somewhat. I also feel Pierrot are moving far too fast through it, giving me horrible visions of them catching up to the manga before we know where we are. Either way, I'm pretty neutral about it. I don't love it and I don't hate it either.

Yakitate!! Japan (Episodes 1-8) - 8.5/10
Absolutely hilarious. If you're not watching this because it's about bread then you're a fool. One of the funniest anime series I've ever seen, this heart-warming and hugely entertaining show is an absolute must.

school rumble 1-11 - 8.7 this series is freakin hillarious (horrible love web spanning all characters ex. bob likes jill, but jill like tom, and so on. reminds me of highschool, hopefully someone will be happy in the end) aslo this story has great character development of all characters almost.

I have no problems with people doing a running review, just as long as they tell us that they have not finished the series, so this may not be taken as a definitve view on the anime, just their thoughts on hows it's progressing. That's what I like to think that I'm doing......

Back to topic:

Tekken: The Motion Picture: 2 Worst film ever. Starting with sub par animation, and going to 5 plot lines (at last count, there are probably more) to fit in and attempt to finish in (approximately) 60 minutes, (watched old skool style, on VHS), makes for one terrible movie. And thus, I enjoyed it in its crappy crappiness. Do not see this film unless you are a) a nut like me who gets perverse pleasure out of terrible films or b) a rabid Tekken fan.

SaiKano- 9/10: The ending left me in tears. I found the story quite compelling and the pacing was suitable to the content. The relationship seemed so true, excluding the extrordinary set of circumstances. The only downside was the character desgins. I would recommend it to all who want to feel a candidly real drama of young love.

A couple of completed ones, and some more running reviews

She, The Ultimate Weapon: 6.5 This really took a dive in the final 2 episodes. Take a WTF? kind of ending, and a WTBF is going on? around everything else in the series but the teen angst, and there you go.

Last Exile: 8.5 A very good end to a very good series. However, it was let down by a couple of unanswered questions about the Guild and Exile. Not aboslutely necessary, but would have helped greatly. NEEDS A PREQUEL.

Azumanga Daioh (Eps. 15-19): 9 I cried with laughter, Nuff said.

Twelve Kingdoms (Eps. 23-26): 8.5 Things are starting to tie together. I'm still loving it.

R.O.D. the TV (Eps. 5-8): 7 Still enjoying it, but I'm having questions about the Dokusensha(sp?) that I think really need to be answered.

I know it's awful to even try to form an opinion of an anime after just one episode, but that's all I've had time for recently, so here goes...

Mahou Sensei Negima -7.5. It shows promise, even with the rather large cast. From the voice acting I've heard, it sounds pretty good, but I'd rather wait another episode or twenty before I decide to pass judgement on it.

Melody of Oblivion - 8.5. Another take on the whole rebel-without-a-cause-who-finds-he-has-magic-powers shtick. From the first ep, it looks fairly standard, and I can almost predict what happens next. But I usually enjoy that sort of thing, so I'm optimistic.

Ah! My Goddess - 9. From the moment Belldandy popped out of the wall and uttered her first "Ara ra...?" I was hooked. Gods, I love Kikuko Inoue. ^__^

Gundam Seed Destiny - 6. Could be better. Throwing a few new characters into the mix, with the tried and true method of '"young boy loses family in war, becomes protagonist for new series focused on him getting justice." I do like the new Voltron-esque Gundam though.

Ultimate Girls - 7. It's rated as high as it is simply because of the "WTF?!" factor. I found myself saying that more than once as I watched the little 12 minute clip. It looks very much like a run-of-the-mill fan service anime, but with the services of Tohru Furuya as UFO-man, it should be good for a laugh.

I also just finished watching Azumanga Daioh for the third time and it was still as hard letting them go the third time around as it was the first. Bloody brilliant series.

newest one ive seen is Beck 1-10 and it gets a stellar 8.8/10 the story is a bit slow at times, but its still pretty damn good. even tho ive only seen 10/26 eps the character development is done really really well. so the animation is not always top notch, but its still pretty good in animating the motions of playing the guitar and such well. the drumming scenes could be better, but its still something i would give a good review for and push all of m friends to see it, cuz theyre all musically inclined.

Slayers- 6.2/10

Not quite as good as I thought it might be, the comedy is alright not really a good job on that part. The character designs are dated and very poor except a few times when Lina does an attack but that's rare also. The only thing I really enjoyed were the attacks and how Gourry is so dense^^ One anime that I wouldn't like to see again.

Sadly not, the movie is a recap of the series and it has a different ending. I personally loved the ending of RahXephon but I can see why it divided opinions so much.

Naruto (Episodes 1-51) - 8/10
Despite the (to coin an icelava phrase) flashback-no-jutsu I'm really enjoying this series, despite the fact I probably wouldn't have touched it with a ten foot bargepole thanks to the more retarded faction of Naruto fandom. Ridiculously addictive and entertaining, this is perfect for someone who wants to sit back and enjoy undemanding storylines, likeable characters and brilliant action.

RahXephon: Pluralitis Concentio = 9

But only as an excellent addendum to the series, as it both clarified some things for me and reafirmed some of my conclusions. Consequently, for a total RahXephon experience I recommend that you see both. But if you only can see one, see the series. Since I saw it after I saw the series I cannot really judge how well the movie stands on its own, but I suspect that it would leave one with many more unanswered questions than the series would, if seen by itself.

Well i just finished watching the last episodes of Hand Maid May, and i give the whole series a 8/10. Mostly because romance/comidys are my fav genre, and im a sucker for all that kind of stuff.

Another anime that I have seen lately is Samurai Champloo or somthing like that. I have only seen the first dvd, but it seems to have some good potential. I give it a 7/10 because I think that they could have done a beter job with the fight scenes.

Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie

Ok I took the advice from anime academy on this movie and it was free on anime selects on the on demand so I decided to watch it. I heard that it's better to take advantage of the film by not knowing about the anime and so I did that I also heard it was confusing and I didn't understand hardly a single thing that was going on. Once one plot was somewhat solved another plot came into the story, unnatural transformations occured which I had no idea what it was about that I think should have been toned down a bit. I can't really say much because it was completely confusing hopefully if I watch the anime it will be much better and I'll be able to understand a little of what's going on. I give it a 7.2/10 the animation was very nice and so were the fights it was very enjoyable on the most part for that at least

Pretty damn good from what I've seen. Formulaic, with that classic monster-of-the-week theme, but it's entertaining and enough not to be stupid. Sayoko's seiyuu, Masumi Asano, is really growing on me, as is Sanae Kobayashi, who plays Toune. The OP and ED themes are frickin' awesome too. Have to find some way to procure the OST...

Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie (first one) B Enjoyable, but I thought it was very light in the plot department. If they put it a little later in the series that would probably have improved it mucho, but it was still very sweet.

Macross Zero - 7.5
Very, very pretty, but pretty average otherwise.

.Hack//Sign (Including the 2 extra episodes on DVD) - 8.0
In some ways this is a rather indistinctive anime in that because it's so dialogue driven, there aren't many memorable scenes or even characters either, but more than makes up for it with an interesting take on multiplayer RPG's.

Patlabor 3- 6.0
Bar one exciting scene with the alien type creature I kind of thought this was kind of dull - sort of makes realize I value entertainment over artform, as this is a pretty well done flick, but I just couldn't seem to care. I liked the minipato extra DVD though.

Boogiepop Phantom - NA
I can't fairly score this one as I put the last couple of episodes on fastforward with the subtitles on, and generally didn't pay attention to the rest of the episodes - apart from an interesting start to the series, it was excruciatingly hard to get through some of them.

Initial D! - 8.0
In a strange way, this is probably my personal favourite anime, in that it's an underdog anime. It has crappy art and animation, the cg cars pasted on top stick out like a sore thumb and the characters are pretty shallow... but it seemed to work - the art style seemed to enhance the type of humour they were aiming for, while the car races themselves all seemed to be a new exhilarating experiences each time.

Grenadier - 6.5
Heh heh, Boobs.

Final Approach - 5.0
It was sometimes quite funny, but otherwise, this one seemed like a generic dud (especially the character designs)

Samurai Champloo - Got this yesterday and watched the first three episodes. I like it a lot so far. The first episode was very creative in it's presentation (this gives nothing away) such as the transitions between scenes that are done visually like scratching on a turntable. Very cool, fun, though mature anime. The characters are interesting and definitely have me wanting more info. At this point, it has me wanting more. So, early grade is an 8 with definite expectations that it will go up if the story progresses well.

Speaking of His & Her Circumstances which I just finished watching, I can easily give this a 10, as it is the most enjoyable anime I've seen in a long time. As someone stated just above me, it doesn't necessarily end "well" because it's not really the end of the story. The different styles in the show (throughout) were very interesting/entertaining. And, I think the story really struck a chord with me, as I was probably a mixture of personalities between Arima and Yukino at that point, and remember a lot of the growing paths they traveled. But, no other anime has "forced" me to go pick up the manga before, and I definitely want to see how all this turns out. I've gotten through a couple of books so far, and they are very easy to enjoy, as they are similar in style to the anime. The last show is basically part of book 8. This show didn't come off as "shoujo-ish" as most of this type to me. But, I can't pinpoint why in less than 6,842 words.

Witch Hunter Robin - I enjoyed this, but there were a lot of things I thought they could do or that I still wanted to know. It was good enough, but still, only a 6/7.

R.O.D. the TV - This show is great! The action is awesome, and it's just fun to watch. The good-bad or bad-good guys... whatever they are, are confusing too, which makes it even more fun. As long as this doesn't end up taking a flying header into the toilet story-wise after Volume 4, it'll be a 9. The extra commentary on Vol. 4 was also so ridiculously all over the place that it was hilarious to me.

just a few for now

Full Moon 10/10 great music, love story, and Kawaiiness

Samurai Champloo 10/10 for uniqueness alone. only beat boxing, rap, samurai anime i've ever seen. I have no idea how they're gonna end it in 8 eps, but fun to watch none the less

Bleach 9.5/10 It's good, asrbing plot, great characters, but I have to say the manga is better and more clear Orihime is my hero XD

Naruto 8.5/10 it's long, and getting a bit annoying, but I love the characters and the new season (of the manga atleast) looks like it's going to be great XD

GRAVITATION - 9

Hilarious, totally wonderful. Bright colors when needed and dark colors when needed. It definately has a real approach unlike some other anime I've seen. The humor wasn't dry in any places at all, but it was entertaining to watch. I was hooked on the entire thing; music, art, background music, character profiles- everything. My only regret is that they didn't flesh out a few characters such as Mika, Tohma, Tatsuha and the band ASK, which I wish they had (character profiles I mean).

Sadly, I watched the fansub T-T But, I'm going to be getting the eng/jap DVD sometime this month.

I saw Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket a short while ago and I must say that it's immediately below the original Mobile Suit Gundam as my favorite Gundam series. The realistic potrayal of war and the horrors that it inflicts upon the innocent and fighters is well done in this series. The original series' intention to show how war affects people is also carried across well in this OVA and despite the OVA being only 6 episodes, it carries a more profound message about the nature of conflicts than what something like Gundam Wing could've ever hoped for. Development of Al as a person and how he views war is well illustrated, and the unknown conflict between Chris and Bernie is nothing short of a true tragedy. Overall, a top-notch OVA with some slight issues over the animation, but with the story being the main focus of it, it's perfectly forgivable that some of the mobile suits are a little fuzzy around the edges.

9.3/10 (Highly recommended)

You mean it is mercifully only 12 episodes, right?

I loved Steel Angel Kurumi, the first series. But I about hanged myself for watching the second. I dont know what bum**** retard decided to flipflop the entire show like that, but I owe someone a Stinger missile up the wazoo.

Anime Ive seen recently:

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu! Genius. 9.2 out of 10. The onsen episode alone made watching that show worth it.

Kakyusei 2 ~The Girls in our Eyes~ What started out as a very interesting show ended up sucking fat donkey balls. Too bad. I was intrigued for a long time. Bah. 6.7 out of 10.

Vision of Escaflowne (Episodes 1-13) - 8/10
Halfway through the series and I thought it'd be a good time to discuss my thoughts so far. I like it a lot, but it's yet to really take off. A lot of episodes seem to be "something happens then Allen and Van fight Dilandau yet again", which is ok but it's starting to get old. I hear it really picks up in the second half, so I look forward to seeing where it goes. Anyway, the production values are top notch - wonderful music, animation and an involving storyline.

Last Exile - 8.5
Well...a very enjoyable series, with a bizarre but nonetheless satisfying ending. Whilst not a classic, this is definitely one to watch for its animation alone. The story, whilst marginally interesting really picked up in the last quarter and the last episode was pure sex for the eyes. Despite a few quibbles and unexplained plot and character elements, I really enjoyed Last Exile and recommend it highly.

The animation is great so far with the picture nice and clear and everything, the action so far is alright but not the best I have to say. It is one of those cute anime's that's full of comedy and is more of a kid show than anything but the characters are easily likeable. The artwork has bright colors and is a Gainax series which to me at first was surprising. I really like it so far not the best anime I've seen but quite an enjoyment to watch. It's recommended highly I say and I soon plan to get more episodes of this series.

Genshiken - 7.5/10. Thoughtful, funny and cozy when it's at its best. Doesn't go the distance, sadly; it's way too short. Its appeal is limited right off the bat (if you're not a geek or married to one, this one is boring as paint on the wall), some episodes are weak and the ending is one big rush, as if they tried to fit in all the character development they failed to include in the first eleven episodes. Good for what it is, but I can't help thinking that it could have been much, much more.

Slayers Next! - 9.0
Instead of slowly introducing the characters, the whole gang are together straight away to show what brilliant chemistry they have together, along with 2 new great characters in Martina and particularly Xellos.

Sakura Wars (movie) - 5.5
Kind of a fruity-toot show, which may need viewing experience of the tv series to fully appreciate... really fat, ugly mecha designs.

Genshiken - 8.0
An amusing take on the world of otakudom, but just doesn't aspire to be anything more. Saki-chan and Madarame are great characters and provide a great contrast to each other showing the differences in 2 sterotypes.

Blackjack (movie) - 6.5
A fairly interesting story, but I'm assuming a lot of these movies require some sort of knowledge on the series beforehand, as there wasn't much clue as to Blackjack's character or motivation.

Astroboy (1981 tv series, dubbed) - 5.0
Firstly the show's aimed at kids, so this may be why the voice acting is rather terrible. The animation is below average mostly, but at times considering the age it seemed quite good. What I think saves the show is that it is at least fairly entertaining in it's humour and the action scenes as well. Ironically, the highlight of the 51 series show is probably the cameo of Dr Rouge AKA Blackjack. (Eh, I'll just post a review on this)

Saiyuki; Requiem- 6.5

This franchise is like crack, you know it's bad for you, but you just can't stop. The movie was basically an hour and a half long filler episode but with high quality animation. However since fluctuating animation has always been one of Saiyuki's curses it was a marked improvement. The characters looked wonderful in this movie. Dogan, the official antagonist, was an interesting character but he really needed a more sympathetic main cast for his backstory and motivation to make any real impact, it seemed wasted on the Sanzo party. Characters from the tv version made brief and somewhat pointless cameos for what seemed to be the sheer sake of saying they were in the movie. Some of the fight scenes were awkward, carrying over more flaws from the anime version and the music was fairly uninspired.

However I refuse to fail it because it's SAIYUKI. IT HAS HOT GUYS.

This is a series that I've had a strange relationship with. After buying the first volume back in 2003 and soon learning about the extreme shoddiness of the UK release (missing subtitles in the final episode, that sort of thing) I put it on hold. Almost two years later I've finally finished it and it was certainly worth the wait. Beautiful animation and music are the main two reasons to see this - it's most likely Yoko Kanno's best score. Whilst I couldn't form a particularly strong bond with the characters, I still felt somewhat frustrated by Hitomi's bizarre choice in the final episode. Also, I felt some of the middle episodes specifically 10-15 were somewhat lacking and fell into a somewhat formulaic rut. Despite that though, this really is a great series and one of the best anime of the 90's.

Sure there we're disposable characters. Sure there we're filler episodes (though I really did enjoy the ones about Isumi; my favorite secondary chracter). I am simply amazed for watching this series and felt my heart was heavy when it was over. Powerful characters, loads of suspenseful moments, golden OST and much more. This was really the best anime ive seen in the past few months. Got me hooked from the very begining until the very end.

Haibane Renmei has a real challenger for the "my favourite anime" spot. It's sincere and gorgeous both artisticly and emotionaly (which is hard to come across in romance in general, not just anime). That once scene where Shizuku/Seiji/Seiji's grandfather + friends do the impromptue rendition of "Country Roads" damn near had me applauding right there in the cinema. The only point of contention is with its "quick-fix" ending, but if anything, it may just be there to remind us of exactly how old these kids are.

Anyways, A five star film. 9.3/10

Infinite Ryvius
(All comparisons to Lord of the Flies aside) this anime proves to be an unsettling example of society and politics. They large cast was handled well and even though it didn't show all that much gore and violence it stands as one of the most brutal anime I've seen. If it didn't have so much technobabble (that I just zoned out of), piss-poor music and Hirai Hisashi's horrid character designs it would've rated much higher in my books.

Eh. It looks absolutely beautiful, and sounds pretty great as well. The cinematography is gorgeous, the action sequences extremely fluid and well-choreographed and I quite like the new character designs. However, this film completely lacks character development. Hitomi and Van only just meet until the next scene where Hitomi is proclaiming her love for him...wtf?! It just felt like there were some important character development scenes sorely missing and that bugged me a lot. I was also annoyed by how Folken - the big bad villain of the film - does absolutely nothing, just stands around in a room for the entire duration. Oh, and all the supporting characters are pretty much ignored. Ho hum. It's not bad or anything, but it could've been so much better.

Spirited Away - 7.5
Fanciful and creative, but there's absolutely no explanations as to what's going on and even a few jumps in the logic and thought processes of the characters as well. A little overrated I feel.

Macross - 9.0
A story that manages to stand the test of time, with great interactions between the Macross crew and amusing ones with the aliens as well - Actually they're damn funny. Heck, I even think Kain might have underrated it in his review because it was his first anime and might have been a bit on the conservative side, (regardless of the, at times bad animation).

Beyond the Clouds - 8.0
Compared directly with Voices of a Distant Star (for obvious reasons), you could almost say that all other things equal, Beyond the Clouds simply has beefed up art and animation, but VOADS kicks its arse in its concept - the cellphone plot device is just inherently cooler than whatever vague scientific theories Beyond the clouds was trying to get at.

Twelve Kingdoms (first 3 dvds) - 9.2 Really great in the beginning, the second chapter isn't as good as the first. Great action, great story, great character development, great art. Just great!

EDIT:
Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi - 8.7 This series was short and funny. Great spoofs of american movies and other anime cliche. I loved the mech spoof!

Urusei Yatsura (first 4 dvds) - 8.2 I just can't get into this series, I just finished Ranma and that was awesome, so I'm kinda let down by this. I love romance but I can't seem to like the characters in the show.

Hikaru no go - 9.0 A great series that makes me want to read the manga. The ending was somewhat satisfying and the main character really grew throughout the series. The music is excellent.

Ranma 1/2 (to about #100ish): 8. A true classic. Even though the quality dives around the second or third season, there are still some original and hilarious episodes to be found. Gourmet Foie Gras!

Kare Kano (eps.1-16): 8.5 This is an interesting conundrum. Overall, I am enjoying it greatly, having Gainax and Anno involved introduces some new and interesting things into the genre, yet by the same coin, there are some things that suggest that Gainax was not the best choice of studio for this......

Howl's Moving Castle: 9.2/10

If Miyazaki does retire after this film, I will be depressed for the rest of my life. The scenes with the lake and the snowy mountains just blew me away with its sheer beauty. However, there is sort of a feeling that I've seen this before. Getting Takuya Kimura to voice Howl was a pretty uncharacteristic move for Ghibli. I think he did a decent job, but I can think of other VAs who can do better.

My HiME: 8.5/10

The animation was very well done, the story on the other hand is good, but sorta drags for a long time. Music is very good. But the fight scenes are good, tho somewhat short, given the number of fights and number of eps. but its still a good anime, and i would recommend it to my underage, lesbian undertoned, anime lovers.

Porco Rosso: 9.5/10

Stunning. The animation is just stunning, well it is Hayao so its a given. Very good, love the old fashioned planes, no transforming, laser blasting, missile shooting crap, just good ole dogfights =D my favourite =D and the music I think this is my favourite Hayao work

Noir: 8/10

Good animation, but there are way, wayyyyyy too many flashbacks that are 2 mins long each. its boring for me, i mean they use guns and kill so many people and yet no one seems to bleed. I mean if you're going to kill 500 people per episode then dont worry about gore, really dont. My favourite part of the whole anime is the music, its just superb, it flows with the action sequences insanely well, it easily sets the mood, and its really bloody addictive =P On a whole I like it, tho i have to see past episode 20

Big weekend of anime watching...

R.O.D the TV (eps. 9-12): 7.5 This batch seemed a little hastily put together, and the lack of info on the Dokusensha is both annoying and intriguing me.

Juuni Kokki (eps. 27-30): 8.5 Still epic and still good.

Samurai Champloo (eps. 1-4): 9 Wow. Nice fights, interesting characters, not a fan of hip hop though. And Fuu is cute.

I also can across a sampler disc with some episode 1's on them. I'll just put my thoughts on what I thought of the first episode, and not not give them a score.

Gundam SEED Not overly impressed. I felt if I was dunked into the middle of something. Perhaps I need to have watched earlier Gundams.

InuYasha Interesting, but I didn't think it overly original. Not something I'd want to buy at 100+ eps.

Peacemaker Kurogane Ehh.....not impressed. 'I'm so strong, and I know everything, now watch me get the 5h!7 beat out of me.' It didn't help that the best character was a badarse pig that has 3 scenes and only grunts.

Mezzo DSA Hmmm.....cardboard characters, convoluted plot....but hell I was thoroughly amused. and at 13 episodes, I think I can chalk this up to 'guilty pleasure'. Expect to hear about how crap yet how amusing this is in the near future.

Despite a very small but rabid fanbase this series has yet to gain any sort of real recognition, which is a shame. Whilst not overwhelmingly brilliant it's a very nice, highly entertaining series with absolutely gorgeous animation. Whilst some secondary characters don't get much development, I felt the mixture of sci-fi and fantasy was very well done and there were some moments I certainly didn't see coming. This review rating is just to spit in the face of all the bad reviews I read online about this new anime.

Sousei no Aquarion (episodes 1-2) - 88%

This anime is another one that kinda reminds you of NGE but is also vastly different.

This show may take ideas from multiple other shows but how can you berate a show for just that? This anime has a very solid plot, even if it has many cliche parts to it. The characters are all ready begining to flesh out, as this anime does an outstanding job of developing characters, without using words might I add. The most revealing and inspirational scenes portrays of how a charcter feels without using words to express it. If you actually look at the hardwork, artwork, and dialogue you have an exceptional anime.

Superb Animation and Music, should get a 9.5-10 rating in this area for sure!

Only a few plot holes seem to tarnish what is a great anime, with some of the best plot twists you'll see.

Beck - 7.5
Story intermittently strays away from the best part about this show - the music.

A decent story, which was rather heartfelt towards the end as the characters were developed quite well through the episodes.

Castle of Cagliostro - 8.5
A pretty fun movie, with great set pieces.

This movie is almost too good to be true. The amalgamation of romance, comedy and adventure all set to the backdrop of the charm and swank of the 1920's-1930's era has me convinced that I had to have been ingrained into this culture in a previous life. Interstella 5555- 9.3/10
Definetly one of the coolest anime out there and another title to breach my top ten favourites. It's funky and innovative and in an industry dominated by large eyes and huge tits, Matsumoto's character designs are like a breath of retro-fresh air. Clearly I'm someone who for most of the time hates dance/techno with a passion, so when I say "Daft Punk is genius" you know I sure as hell mean it.

Akira- 5/10
I've finally seen the most famous anime movie and it was predictably average. Great music and animation but it was simply too much in too little time, blah, blah, blah. The later half of the movie was just spent trying to figure out what would be scarier to watch while stoned, Akira or The Omen. Probably Akira.

The Dagger of Kamui- 7/10
The pacing was all over the shop, the plot shifted and twisted a ridiculous amount of times, there were a plethora of disposable charaters, the art and character designs haven't aged well, yet inspite of all of this the story was enough to keep me interested for the whole two and a bit hours. That, and the fight scenes are trippy and well worth the wait.

Ranma 1/2 (all 161 episodes, a new personal record for longest series finished!): 7.8. Single episodes ranged from 9 down to about 5. Only a genius like Rumiko Takahashi can keep an anime fresh for 80 episodes with virtually no character development. The first 3 seasons are classic.

But by the second half, everything starts getting a little sloppier, a little more repetitive, a little more mundane. By the last season, every single joke is tired and used, the animation department is obviously underfunded, and every story is boring and predictable. But I crawled through that last painful season, so Ranma 1/2 would be my new personal record for longest series finished! Yee hah!

MAR - Marchen Awakens Romance (5 eps): It's a kid's show. And yet, stupidly, they throw something dramatic in there with episode 5. Make up your mind people.
5 / 10.

Futakoi Alternative (3 eps): Went from a dull as shit harem romance show based on a shoujou dating game sim (Futakoi, 13 episodes) to a completely wacked out, ****ed up, laugh out loud hilarious parody of itself! And yet, they still add some drama to remind you that they can do it. If the director pulls this off, I'll herald him as the greatest king of modern anime. Go watch this!
9 / 10.

Tsubasa Cronicle (5 eps): After a break-neck start, it's slowed down perhaps a bit too much. Hopefully the next episode will get this thing moving again and in a smooth way. Animation, story, and music are still enough to empower this popular title.
8 / 10.

Speed Grapher (4 eps): Great story, intriguing characters, and embarassingly spotty animation from GONZO. Duran Druan song for intro = Big plus.
8 / 10.

Mahou Sensei Negima (17 eps): Relative mess of a show had a makeover once by bringing in new animators. It helped, but not much. Animation can only go so far, the story is the thing. Show needs a plot, bad.
5 / 10.

Bleach (30 eps): Through episode 30 and although the thing has fallen into the shounen trap of fight sequences lasting over several episodes, the characters and the odd situation of good guys vs. good guys? makes for some intriguing storytelling.
7.5 / 10.

Ah My Goddess TV (17 eps): Anime has followed the manga. Unfortunately this means that the early goings are boring as shit. Fortunately, it gets better as time goes on. Currently in the "good parts".
8 / 10.

Ichigo 100% (5 eps): Fanservicy and flimsy in the animation department and the story is about as cliche' as it gets. And yet, for some stupid reason, I really enjoy it. The girls are the best reason to watch this show, and I dont necessarily mean for the service.
7 / 10.

Emma (4 eps): Victorian romances are, unfortunately, a taste thing. You either like it or not. Great characters, entertaining story, and a peek into (mostly) authentic Victorian England makes Emma this season's Underdog.
8 / 10.

Eureka 7 (2 eps): BONES makes very pretty shows with great character interaction. But what's with the surfing mecha?
7.5 / 10.

Honey & Clover (2 eps): Completely random bullshit show about artists and the weird crap that eccentric artists can do. Morita is a hoot! Needs some substance tho.
7.5 / 10.

Aim for the Top! 2: Die Buster (2 eps): The parody that GAINAX wanted with the first Aim for the Top!. Wont have to worry about this one becoming a fan favorite space opera epic; because it isn't. About as much a farce as FLCL. They could have at least gone halfway like with Re: Cutey Honey. Sheesh.
6 / 10.

Ultimate Girls and Trinity Blood are two others I'm watching, but only 1 episode each so far. I gave up on Loveless. I can't deal with it, no matter how ****ing gorgeous the animation is.

Really loved this. Apart from all the well animated action scenes, the design of the guns are intricate and complex, like the girls. Battle Angel Alita - 7.5
Not quite so good as I thought it would be, but nonetheless and entertaining way to spend an hour. I'm just surprised that there wasn't anymore of it as it hit on one hell of a good storyline and concept. Whilst reminding me of Blade Runner a bit, I felt it was just too short and moved far too fast to make us feel much for the characters, although the end of the final episode was very well done indeed.

Steam Boy: 9 Wow. Being so hyped up and all, and me being the kind of person who thinks that hype usually indicates something wrong, I really wanted to find something wrong with this film. I couldn't, except that I still find Otomo's chararcter designs to be a little on the ugly side, apart from that, wow, just wow. And seeing it on the big screen (my first anime in a cinema!) made the experience even better.

Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie- 7.5/10
Ooooooookaaaay. Well. The trailer for this movie tells me to "forget everything you know about Utena", well that's pretty easy to do as I've never seen an episode of the television series in my life, that being said, WTF?

No, seriously. What. The. F*ck.

Firstly, the sweeping pans, vivid colour pallet and crisp, dazzling animation are truely something to behold (especially on the big screen, as I did) but it seems like the story was taken right out of the history books of bizzare-o land. Just when I thought I had things semi-figured out, I'm suddenly watching a cow being urinated on by some monkey... thing, then when I think I'm back on track again, suddenly everyone's in a car race. To call Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie "surreal" is like calling Adolf Hitler "a bit rude".

Even though it was still oddly entertaining, "WTF" just about rounds it up. I think I'll invest some time into that director's commentary I've heard about.

Bakuretsu Tenshi - 4.0
Starts out promising, in like the first episode, but then peters out terribly, with each episode starting to follow a stupid formula with the characters being just as stupidly formulaic. A few decent fight scenes barely redeems it.

Vision of Escaflowne - 9.5
It's pretty hard to fault this anime. I mean, it has a great story, characters and pretty good animation, and a pretty good soundtrack as well, although it does sound a little old school now. Wasn't quite the ending I was looking for, but it was hardly terrible.

Haibane Renmei - 8.5
After watching it, I was initially disappointed as it doesn't actually answer a couple of questions it asks fairly early on, but then I realized it's not that type of anime - I guess you have to provide your own answers.

School Rumble - 8.0
Relied too much on Tenma and Harima early on, and so the side characters seemed to suffer as a result. It was at times hilarious, and strangely enough the whole thing with Karasama in the last episide the made complete sense.

BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad - 9/10
Despite lacking in the animation department in places (not that it really matters so much), this is an excellent series with a wonderful cast of characters who you just can't help but root for. The all-important musical element is perfect, with a fantastic selection of songs that never get old - the guitars look just how they should, which helps in contributing to very naturalistic slice-of-life feel to the showa and the performance sequences are also very fluidly animated. The character designs also contribute, with them looking more "real" than simply anime characters. Whilst the slow-pacing and heavy use of Engrish may put off some, I felt this added beautifully to the overall experience. Ultimately this is an anime that celebrates the underdog and the outcast, and in a compltely un-cheesy way, shows that anyone can achieve their dream if they put their mind to it. With its clever and optimistic ending, BECK is a very uplifting experience that will appeal to anyone with a love of rock music and deep characters.

Chrno Crusade 7/10 and only because it's a Gonzo production, was slightly disappointed with the English dub on the show ^^;
Elfen Lied 9/10 seriously only meant for adults who don't giggle whenever someone says 'boobie' and can be rather open minded
Gundam SEED 9/10 one of the few Gundam series that I love enough to want to buy the whole series

Azumanga Daioh: 9 Finally all done. This is my second favourite anime series to date (first being Haibane Renmei). Strangely enough, the final episode didn't make me cry, but it did bring back the bitterseeet memories of graduating high school. Only downer is that some of the jokes don't quite make the mark, mainly the ones with pregnant pauses....some then leave the pause for too long. Other that that, REQUIRED VIEWING.

Azumanga Daioh: The Very Short Movie: 7.5 It's Azumanga Daioh, in movie quality production! What's not to like? Well, it is very short, so it's not entirely cohesive, and some knowledge of the series is required to get it entirely. That's the only real downer on this. Other than that, very entertaining, the variations on the pigtails joke was hilarious!

Panyo Panyo Di GI Charat (eps. 1-12): 8 Oh, my, God. That was my first reaction watching this. This thing has a sugary-sweet level so high it'll cause diabetes. And I love it. It's funny, but I don't know why.

Mobile Suit Gundam Movie I: Awesome! My new favorite Gundam series! I see how jaded I was by the "cooler" looking gundam of Gundam Wing. This movie was awesome and even though I started getting a little bored towards the end, I found that it was a very good watch and I couldn't wait to pop in Mobile Suit Gundam Movie II...

So I did... and this one was a bit heavier on plot... I missed the fights, but not so much to complain... the ending was good, kinda of ended just like the first one, but what was really good about the ending was that Char was back!! WOO HOO! Char is the man....

Either way, I was very impressed by both movies after some mediocre reviews I've read, but now I can't wait to finish up the series.

Samurai Champloo (eps. 5-8): 8 Still good, still stylish, but these were mainly inconsiquential epsiodes, really. Ep. 7(?) was the only one that really advanced the story any.

R.O.D the TV(eps. 13-16): 7.5: Finally, some stuff about Dokusensha! Some very nice tie ins with the OVA, but there are still some how's and why's before I can find the whole scenario.....completely believable. But in the end, I'm looking forward to the next disc.

The 12 Kingdoms (eps. 36-40): 8.5 Wow. It could end right there and all would be good, but we still have some loose ends to tie up. I doubt my score will change come the final disc....anyway, a fitting climax, although I think the political scheming was skimmed over for the action, and a couple of rather jarring animation sequences in the charging scenes. But overall, very good.

Actually you could prolly stop at Atonement - atleast theres an ending to that arc. Reverie, while still being very good, is a painful reminder that it's not an end, and that there will be more... eventually. -.-

Anywho...
Mar - (up to eps 2): 4 And that's being kind. The manga preview I had for this one looked interesting. Maybe a fun simple fantasy romp... yeah well it reeks of "Gotta catch em' all!" only with accessories... :eyebrow: It also feels like a bad knock off of Naruto. Ginta, in a way, looks like Naruto and sounds the same too (voiced by the same guy?). I dunno, it may get better - it's so early in the series - but Babbo is really fsking annoying!

Ai Yori Aoshi - 6.0
Well, the romance between Aoi and Kaoru was sweet at least. It may give you a chuckle here and there with its amusing but shallow side characters, but this ain't the best show around.

Rahxephon - 9.5
At this stage I haven't pieced together all the bits of the story, but on 1st viewing, I'm pretty sure all the parts of the puzzle are there. Because of this I think the complexity of the story works for rather than against it, even though it'll leave you a little off balance throughout. This is one trippy experience that is helped by the excellent characters with each showing many different parts of their personality. I feel compelled to mention Kunugi's character as a perfect example of this. He's a military commander that at times seems cold and sticks to protocol, but then you get to see another more human side later on.

Saikano (She, the Ultimate Weapon) - 6.0
The plot probably could have been enhanced if they decided to give you some background info on the war, especially if you consider the last episode. The characters are at least believable and Chise is cute and all, but damn, she just cries too much!

So I've got far enough into this series to get to the second ending sequence, and, taking its strange reputation in anime fandom into consideration, I have to say there's no way in hell I'd be twenty-one episodes down if it wasn't good. Compelling characters, check. Very nice animation (especially for a long-running series), check. A story that adds intrigue and revelations aplenty with each episode, check. In for the long haul? Check.
