I'm amazed that no one has started a topic for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Appreciation despite being 12 episodes in. Oh well... better late than never.

For lack of better words, this show is pure awesomeness. :cool: It is closer to the manga than the anime was. However, a few things have been updated or changed. Such as Luna is now a cute plushie, the girls now use cellphones to communicate with each other, and Minako is already an idol pop star.
It may be cheesy, but it's a good kind of cheese.
And Ami-chan is beyond cute.
In a sense, Minako was already an idol in the form of Sailor V, back in the manga and the original Sailor Moon anime.
You want some real Sailor Moon cheese? Found yourself a copy of the Sailor Moon live-action musicals that ripped through Japan like Godzilla during the mid-'90s. I haven't seen one in years, but man they had some good moments, like when the Sailor Senshi broke into a dance rendition of La Soldier. Guaranteed to get the audience pumped. :)

Consider me a fan. I like the live-action series WAY more than I ever liked the anime.

I've seen most of the episodes of this series to date, and I would argue that the animated version is better. The girls are new to acting and it shows; although that adds some charm, it adds more akwardness than anything else. But the familiar story with some new twists to it is still entertaining, even if it is terribly cheesy. ;)
It's been a long time since I've seen any of the musicals, but those do score higher on the cheese scale.

Even though they're acting amateurs, it's still a great way to show your face, don't you think? Quite a way to add more to the Sailor Moon sccomplishments.
I'd say, "If someone was crazy enough to make a live act out of it, then it, my friend, has made an impact..."

You don't really have to ask if I'm a fan, as I've been given a certain nickname (which is a combination of inside jokes). My fanaticism is a bit exaggerated, but I guess I play up to it slightly.
Anyways.....cheesy, Yes. Completely hilliarious and entertaining at the same time, also a Yes. Although I could do with out the ballet style jumping. After some jumping around consider me a fan of Sailor V (and damn is that song catchy :D ).
i appreciate it VERY much! I totally loooove all the Sailor Senshi! Especially Sailor Venus a.k.a. Mina/Minako Aino! You Certainly tell since whenever i publish my poetry, I go by the alias of Kana Aino, a mixture of My love of the name Kana and Mina! ^-^

Uh... of all the Sailor Senshi in the PGSM series, I actually liked Minako the least. Her acting was sub-par, even in comparison to the rest of the cast, and it was pretty obvious that she was chosen for the role because she could sing and had decent looks, not because she could portray emotions realistically. All the other senshi actresses visibly improved during the run of the series (with Hino Rei's nervous breakdown near the end one of the most impressive scenes ever), but Minako never really reached me.

I've seen to episode 10 so... No Minako for me yet :(
I really like it. It's corny and stupid but so was the actual Sailor Moon (Not including the manga. It's been out of print for so lonmg I had to make do with Japanese copies...)
I think the transformations and attacks are absolutely hilarious!
I've only watched a parody sub of the first episode, but it was damn amusing. PGSM was one of those things I always meant to pick up, but never did. Ah well, it saves Roark some pain; I'm only dragging him through the anime, not everything else.
Though, I have always wanted to watch the Sera Myun musicals >>;
