What I look for in anime: If it's a drama or even an action series, plot and some sort of character development are a must. Comedy, on the other hand, doesn't necessarily need either... but it's got to be seriously hilarious to jump past that hurdle. Decent art and animation are a must, as well, as it's hard to enjoy something that is constantly stabbing you in the eyes with bad artwork or animation. Basically, I need an anime with a decent amount of substance or at least needs to be entertaining in some fashion.
